  1. First off you need to understand what you're asking - it's a rare beast (in a UK shop at least) to find a gun that can be used as a DMR off the shelf. So do you want a DMR style rifle that you can then upgrade the performance on? If so then you could probably spend less on the actual rifle but make up the difference buying the upgrades and getting it working properly. What's your level of ability in terms of gearboxes and fitting internal upgrades?
  2. Shimming. FML.

Not my gun so I didn't spend ages on it to be fair. It's in an old ICS MP5 SD6, new set of ZCI metal bushings and ZCI CNC gears (it had chewed the original bevel) and it seems they needed WAY more shims to be even close to right than I thought possible!

wow - that breaks the norm as bushings normally need a couple of thinest shims per gear

But been robbed blind of shims when doing bearing box builds - ah well is working now

  3. Yeah I'm thinking of going for a Lonex one: 19.63mm - AK Series 20.40mm - MP5-A4/A5/SD5/SD6 Series 20.73mm - P90 Series 20.77mm - M16A1 VN/XM177E2/CAR-15 Series 20.96mm - LMG Series 21.05mm - MP5-K/PDW Series 21.13mm - PSG-1 Series 21.20mm - G3-A3/A4/SG-1/MC51 Series 21.22mm - M16A2/M4A1/SR16 Series 22.26mm - SIG 550/551/552 Series 24.27mm - G36 Series 24.60mm - AUG Series 24.61mm - M14 Series as it seems to be a bit closer.
  4. Nope. You need to look for EN166 ratings. But you're right in as much as EVERYTHING the OP linked to is cheap crap.
  5. You're selling at just about the worst time of year. Nobody has any money left from Xmas and any they got as gifts will have been spent. Plus to be honest you are asking top money for a used item. Usual rule of thumb is that a second hand gun is worth no more than 70% of its retail value IF it's pretty much as new. You've admitted it's got some usage scratches and it's been skirmished so I would say nearer 60% to be honest. £200 is probably a fairer price. Good luck with selling it though, looks like a nice gun.
  6. I got a reply from G&G! Apparently the correct length is 21.1mm.
  7. I have a KAC ris you can have for £10 posted.
  8. There's a definite "them and us" divide between rental players and regulars with their own gear, but don't let it bother you. Get good and enjoy pwning people with better gear than you. I'm always happy to play with noobs IF they're prepared to at least listen to advice.
  9. All the bad reviews of fma I've seen have been American. I've got an fma, my buddy has an Emerson. They both do the job but mine came with all the bits and pieces plus an occ dial strap set. Mine is also stiffer.
  10. http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/301106605979 That's the one I have. Arrived pretty quickly too. Apextac have the same bits listed as both buy it now and auction. Auction is generally slightly cheaper.
  11. If you can stretch to it, an FMA brand helmet would be better. Take a look at apextac on eBay.
  12. Nozzle looks wonky too. Are you sure the nozzle is seated properly on the tappet plate?
  13. Did you see the post right before yours?
  14. His second post clearly states that he rented previously. Let's not all get in a tizzy for a change.
  15. Good package deal from socom tactical if you can stretch to it http://www.socomtactical.net/airsoft-guns-knifes/professional-airsoft-guns/assault-rifles/ghk-g5-gbb-inc-3-mags-starter-kit.html
  16. Yeah good idea might just drop fs a line. Cheers for all that info man, for someone that claims to be a clueless noob you certainly know where to find the details.
  17. The other reason for wanting to know the right size nozzle is to find out if I'm limited to oem parts or if (in the event of an m4 nozzle fitting) I can fit a nice o ring seal nozzle.
  18. Taiwan is part of China. I had thought to measure it but that does require taking the whole thing apart again. The SCAR H definitely takes a longer nozzle and the Classic Army and d Boys one are different again. Hence the question.
  19. I use shs super shooter springs but yeah an m110 should be giving plenty of power.
  20. Indeed he did: http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/20471-new-delta-ring-installation-advice/?hl=%2Bcyma+%2Bm4+%2Bhandguard
  21. Windows doesn't "expire" unless it's XP but obviously you won't be using that.... Linux on a gaming PC would be a waste of time too. If you're going to use an SSD for your OS best get it in from the beginning rather than mess about having to reinstall it all later.
  22. I'd suggest maybe a smallish SSD to run your OS from. Do you have a copy WIndows already?
  23. Right - I recently messed about with my SCAR L (fitted a BTC Spectre which works fine by the way) and while it was apart the nozzle looked like it could possibly do with replacing. Having skirmished it last weekend the FPS was down and sometime I would get BBs just fall out of the barrel or double feed or sometimes not feed at all so I'm thinking there may be an issue with the nozzle/hop rubber. Problem is that there seems to be a bit of conflicting info on t'web about what nozzle it actually takes. The G&G website doesn't even list the SCAR as a model they make (never has done). I've emailed them but...well it seems to take forever for anyone to reply from China so I'm asking here. Does anyone have any DIRECT experience of replacing the nozzle in one of these? I don't really need any more "I've heard it's the same as xxx" unless you can back it up with some form of evidence. I really don't want to end up with completely the wrong nozzle just because someone heard that a mates brothers uncles one uses the same as an SR25.
  24. Yeah...Jez's beard does make him look quite dashing, doesn't it!
  25. ALL that M4 compatible stuff can be swapped to A N Other M4. That's the beauty of it. Regardless, try running it on 144a before you start panicking. You might not need to spend anything else on it.
