Been playing about with the GPMG barrel, trying to give it a warn look.
Still think a should take a little bit more off the chamber area.
Any opinions on the barrel would be gratefully received.

More to the point, 'you haven't played a game' then what valid defence did you use to procure said RIF?

Nope, no import taxes as they're in the EU. Just the cost stated on the website. I've used them loads before, never really had any issues.

imo, CYMA cm.045 (aks74u VFC clone). Got rid of all my other AEGs and using it for pretty much everything.
-Compact enough for cqb
-Big enough for assault role and with proper pistolgrip/stock/handguard/optional VG
-Robust enough for most anything and uses V3 gearbox (woop wooop!!)
-Once upgraded (and I run a shorter barrel!) I can give the snipers a fair challenge (sure, they are more accurate, but they are slow as well^^). Also shoots pretty far and accurate. Enough so that I could hit a small melon on the other side of our site (gotta measure the distance^^) without problem.
-Spits pretty well (had some comments on it!) on a 7,2v lipo and stock gearbox, and works great as a support role (with hicap/electric).

^^ that's what I would do. Small black tactical screw. Just be sure your local site would be ok with it first.

agreed, there's too much 'ooh what if I hurt someone's feelings' bullshit in airsoft, just shoot them, full face is an option for everyone!

two_zero reacted to Happy in VSR Or L96
Proffrink pretty much said what I would have: the VSR is a lot more practical and easier to upgrade than the L96.
I've owned both types of rifle and had more issues with the L96 due to the feeding ramp. My vsr (clone) however has never missed a beat.

Damn it - read the title and thought it was a post about ovens....
Gas is what pro's use
Electric - some of the newer ones have fan assist
as for airsoft - aeg rifle for most people
gas pistol (blowback nigh on most use/have)

Fair enough - you should try Smart Gas or Pro Tech Gas though as it's really cheap (well at least compared to the prices over here).

^this one
I think running airsoft gas rather than propane seems quite pricey :/ But I didn't have propane and this is what the site was selling^^

Short term... No. Nada. Nope. Run for the hills.
Before you dismiss me, let me explain.
Out of the box, most Airsoft guns shoot about the same. My G&G combat raider shoots about as well as my VFC XCR, despite the latter being a much better gun overall. Snipers (and let's be politically correct - any rifle used by the 'sniper' role is technically a sniper rifle... - let's call them what they are, bolt actions) are no better out of the box than any AEG. Bolt action rifles are often one of the most expensive projects you can attempt (let's leave HPA out of this for now...), and they need a lot of money and parts thrown at them to get them to that precise status we have come to enjoy with bolts. Heck. My only bolt I've had I probably spent 8-10 times as long zeroing it and testing it in different conditions than I've played overall - and I did very little to it. If you actually want to not have a disadvantage in the field, then don't go for a bolt.
If you want a project that you will empty your wallet, max your cards out, and force you to both sell your kidney and your 2nd child, and have a ton of free time on your hands, then go for it. I am going to be starting my first actual build here soon, and I'm already rationing food for the long journey ahead.
That said, if you are going to be running around in the garden shooting your mates, then sure, go for it.
