  1. Not so much a 'this is overpriced' as it is a 'it might be overpriced'... given how descriptive 'Fully upgraded internals done by a proper technician' but with no actual detail that means it's hard to tell. As is customary a word of advice for the seller, try listing what 'fully upgraded' actually means. Because as it stands you're looking to charge £80 more than one could be picked up brand new and entirely unfucked with, and there isn't much detail to justify why someone might do that.
  2. Someone asked pretty much the exact same question less than a week ago... and arguably better, because at least they gave additional information as to their wants/needs. Link to that thread here. Don't. Be. Lazy.
  3. Off to Redcon-2 with a group of friends I played with a decade or so ago on Sunday. Excited to try out a new site, and see some old pals for the first time in forever.

This'll be the first time I've gone to a game with folks in forever, suffice to say I doubt I'll be seeing much of them once we're out if the safe zone!

Seemed like a decent site, if I'm going for outdoors I tend to prefer what I'd call 'proper woods' but I can't hold that against the site at all.

Managed to annihilate my left quad within half an hour of starting to play which put a bit of a dampner on the day, but I was still able to enjoy myself. Thoroughly enjoying a reinvigorated enjoyment of the game at the moment. I've been very close to packing it in multiple times throughout 'the COVID times', I'm glad I didn't.

Redcon-2 is fun but far from perfect. I think they are still trying to work out how to balance it. Echo base the cqb bit comes to mind. Around there it becomes a bit of a stalemate where there is the fence. Also the site is much much bigger than you realise whilst also being a bit of a death trap on your feet. I definitely prefer comms site 3 to redcon but it's alright for a fairly good day of gameplay

The friends I met up with all seem to prefer Comm Site 3 so I’m hoping to join them there at some point. I ended up hanging around what I believe was called the ‘tank graveyard’ or something along those lines for a decent portion of the afternoon. Of the parts of the site I saw that seemed to best match the type of gameplay I enjoy.

  4. Aye, the main things the videos don't tell you how much of a massive prick it is stripping things back down and putting them back together over and over until it's all working right. As you get a feel for it you start to know what isn't quite right once it's all back together, so know immediately where to go to correct it but before that it'll be a lot of trial and error. I remember effing and blinding all over the place when I couldn't stop one of my first G-Specs slam firing (firing once cocked without me touching the trigger) because the process for taking it all apart and stripping the cylinder out is a real process when compared to how easy it is on the SRS. Just food for thought, the videos tend to assume you'll nail it first try and aren't great for teaching the problem solving elements. The VSR is an easy platform to work on in as much as it's mechanically very simple but it definitely shows it's age in how accessible it can be to get to specific parts. Changing out a hop bucking, or stripping the front end down for a proper barrel clean is a right faff.
  5. Getting that BASR itch once again, can't figure out if it's because there are two shiny new ones about or boredom. The opportunity to relive the Scouts and Knives glory days, or simply try out a Silverback RIF in a more conventional form are both extremely tempting though. The KC-02 also keeps catching my eye.

But every time I come close to making a purchase I remember how bullshit MEDs are, and fuck running any of them at a low enough power to not have to play with one.

  6. Not worth it in my opinion, once you've got used to using them they can certainly speed you up but if you decide to go ahead with it you'll likely need to pick up a lightweight bolt stop plate/ZET plate (I've seen them called different things) to keep your bolt stop working reliably. The downside of that being the lightweight replacement may not last as long as the stock one. So yeah, not worth it imo but at least you have the information now. In terms of 'putting my money where my mouth is' I actually own a BAD lever and a few lightweight plates and am yet to install either, purely on a case of 'if it ain't broke'. And just to get ahead of any messages I may get, no, I don't want to sell them.
  7. Only advice to throw on the pile is to get the internals as you want them before spunking cash up the wall on externals. It doesn't matter how nice it looks, if you can't hit a barn door with a banjo you're not going to want to use it for very long. It's worth doing some hunting on YouTube as to what's involved with upgrading and fettling, you can figure out from there if it's something you'd want to do yourself. If it turns out to not be something you want to do something like the TAC/SRS/T11/SSG would probably be a wiser choice than a VSR. Having used or owned most of them, it's much of muchness in my opinion. Spend hours and hours (and a small fortune) so you can take the nuts off a fly at 70m to spend most of your time shooting things within 50-60m (or as is frequently my experience, within MED having to use your sidearm). I will say I personally think teching your own bolties should be something you invest some time into learning how to do it, gradually building knowledge of what things do and don't mess with your air seal/consistency/accuracy/smoothness of bolt pull etc etc. But I get that it isn't for everyone. Granted this comes with a degree of hypocrisy, I do all my own tech work on HPA, GBB(R) and springers but wouldn't touch the insides of an AEG with a barge pole. We all have our comfort zones 🤷‍♂️.
  8. Folds all the way round but takes a bit of force to get it to clip in and I'm not wanting to put anymore strain on that joint as is. Not a big deal for me because I don't ever fold it anyway, but if I was severely lacking space foldng it but not 'locking it in' is an option as is. Blisters on fingers from cinching it down aside, one day I'll remember to put some gloves on... but that wasn't today, I thoroughly enjoy paracording so I wouldn't be shocked if I do a fancier one at some point in the future. I'm off to spontaneous game down South (or at least down South from me) at the weekend and am a bit short on time so just wanted it done for now. Now the race is on to see which comes first, piss about with more paracord or cave and go full 'dragged through ZenitCo catalogue' and slap a PT of some sort on there. Time will tell I guess 🤷‍♂️.
  9. Got the B18 to fit and finally got around to sorting the paracord on the stock. It could certainly be better, but it could equally certainly be worse. Have a B19N and RK-6 on their way from the Motherland, and a PBS-1 replica to throw a tracer in. Loving the build, but my wallet is very much looking forward to it being done.
  10. I genuinely think it might have everything bar formerly being two-tone. Granted the only 'sin' in it formerly being two-tone would be to not mention it in the ad so it may well be a full house. Going into the detail of explaining that you killed the stock mosfet within 4 games and repalced it with the same mosfet is inspired, and we wrap it all up in a nice bunch of 'collection only'. What a specimen, every line is a whole new treat. Being honest the ad is actually extremely honest with plenty of information, it's just that all of that information would generally lead to the RIF being worth less than the RRP rather than twice it.
  11. My absolute favourite part is that the only things that might increase the value slightly are pictured but aren’t included. Superb effort.
  12. Couldn't wrap their head around the 'edit advert' tab to change the price there, had to mark the ad as complete and repost it. Rest assured if you decide to pick this RIF up you're in a safe pair of hands 👀. The price is so wildly high that I'm not sure I can actually fathom the effort to give any actual advice to the seller, I dare say it'd be ignored anyway. But will say it's probably worth parking the sandbagging in the 'questions' section on the ad where it is. Yes everything said in there is valid, but we know the mods aren't a fan of it so you're only making extra work for them. The 3 existing posts should make it clear enough to anyone clicking on it that the asking price is extortionate. In here though? Sandbag away, it's been hard earned by this character.
  13. Chest rig is a Crye AirLite, belt is Ferro Concepts Bison. The chest rig comes entirely naked so has a variety of things on it, those being (from left to right): Crye 6x6x3 GP pouch Tacbelts UK AVS adapter (underneath the placard) Crye AVS Detachable Flap M4 Ferro Concepts Mini-Dangler Esstac KYWI 5.56 Single Mag Pouch (full length) Esstac KYWI Pistol Single Mag Pouch
  14. Obviously don't know exactly what you consider 'good/competitively priced' or the sizes and powers you're after, but Vapex seem to hold a decent stock of most things they carry. They've been my go to for batteries for years.
  15. That's a shame for two reasons. The not selfish one being that you had a crap day, the selfish being this was a site on my list to try out because it's somewhat local-ish to me. Womp womp, good luck in your search bud.
  16. First time I’ve worn my FitBit on a skirmish day, usually take it off for fear of it getting wiped out and just forgot to.

I’d say I’m a pretty active player, not a fan of playing it safe a sitting behind a tree all day… but suffice to say I wasn’t expecting such high numbers. Pretty wild! (You’ll have to excuse the heart rate, just finished lugging everything in from the car)

  17. The entire thread is full of things folks have just bought, but they post their pictures of the items once they've arrived rather than screenshots from the website. You are the only person doing it, and it's not the first time it's been mentioned. Take a social cue, wait till whatever 'you've literally just bought' arrives and share some photos of it. No one is here to see stock images from websites fella, ease off and don't be so touchy.
  18. I’ll spare the full run down unless someone actually wants it, but I officially think I’m ‘there’ in terms of my ideal kit. Took a lot of trial and error to get there, but extremely happy with where it’s ended up. Swapping between AK and AR is a simple case of changing placard on the chest rig.
  19. Global logistics are entirely fucked and costs are only increasing. That has a knock on effect to the cost of raw materials and components increasing, assuming you're able to source them in the first place. Combine companies not re-upping on items because the margins aren't good enough at current rates with the fact shipping costs are extortionate, if you're lucky enough to be able to find the space you want on a boat, and you have the recipe for where we are currently... and where we'll be for a fair old while.
  20. Sounds like the sort of shite you'd read in an instagram story. '...but couldn’t find motivation. He decided to tend to a single tooth each evening.' So, what would you call the thing that made him floss the single tooth a day? It's doesn't matter what phrase, saying or proverb you wrap it in, the drain you're circling around with this post is entirely attached to motivation. It's just highlighting that motivation doesn't have to focused toward a substantial change, which can make it seem like more effort is required to enact a change than you might think. You still need some sort of motivation to 'just show up', as you put it. I agree that small changes can ultimately lead to larger ones, but you need the motivation to stick to things because the excuses for not doing them come far too easily without it. In terms of my thoughts on the whole 'I'm struggling to find the motivation' thing, my honest opinion is to not bother wasting your time. If you're having to ask others for inspiration about something to get motivated by then whatever it is won't be enough to see a long term change come into effect. And that's not me trying to leave a broadsweeping 'just don't bother', but I've been there. My motivation this time round is entirely based around myself and my partner family planning, and I don't want to be a slob of a Dad. My Dad was amazingly active when I was growing up, and I want to be able to do that for my kids. Before I changed my lifestyle I wasn't going to be able to be the parent I wanted to be. And that's some proper motivation, not this 'I want to look good for an upcoming holiday' bullshit. Not that it's particularly worth anything, but this was the first time I've changed my lifestyle for the better and had aesthetics be nothing to do with it. I just wanted to be fitter, though fortunately looking a bit nicer is a welcomed side effect.
  21. This little puppy is back with me after some extensive work. Will likely swap out the B19 for a B19N at some point simply because I think they look nicer, and likely swap the grip/handstop to an RK-6. Will be adding paracord to the stock and I think it’s about there.
  22. Extremely bittersweet moment for me. Off to my first game in forever on Saturday, got some fancy new RIFs to play around with, making sure all my kit fits... I've lost a few inches off my waist since last attending, my shooters belt won't adjust down small enough and my bottoms (UFPros) fall down.

I guess I'll get those up for sale then, and try and source some replacements ahead of Saturday. Weird mixture of very proud/smug, and gutted because I'd finally got 'the perfect setup' for me.

I'm sure I could, but I'd rather not be messing about doing irreversible changes to a piece of expensive kit that ultimately just stands to harm the resale value down the line should I want to change it. Stuck it up on here, already treated myself to a replacement :)

      Yeah that's true.

And now you have a nice new one so all is good 👍

  23. Not intending to rain on any parades, but given the title of the thread it feels wise to say something. Losing that much weight in 2 weeks is extremely unhealthy. If it's giving you motivation to get healthier then use that, but please fix the balance between eating too much shit and simply not eating enough at all. Generally speaking when you start any sort of weight loss plan you'll be losing more earlier on, but even considering that losing that much in 2 weeks rings alarm bells.
  24. Biggest piece of advice would be to run an AEG with only 35 rounds (or something around that) loaded in the mags for a day to see how you get on with it. Obviously AEG ones will be significantly lighter, but the round count is generally a bigger deal to folks than the weight... though the weight increase is definitely worth considering. That'll also give you a decent gauge of how many mags you think you'd want to run with the MWS, so gives you a more educated point to start from in terms of how much the RIF is going to cost you including the 'right' amount of mags for you.
