The new UK import rules from the 1st of January are (as I understand them) :-

Up to £135 - vendor charges UK VAT and pays the VAT to UK govt. - Many vendors are saying it's too much trouble (they have to become UK VAT registered) and won't touch consignments under £135 both EU and worldwide. I think it's duty free under £135 but I'm not sure about that. I'll have to check.

    Confirmed

Hong Kong companies already have an agreement to pay UK VAT so may still handle consignments under the £135 limit. Hold-ups from there are due to Covid and flight availability. I've read that e-Express services to the UK resumed this week.

Over £135 - No VAT charged by vendor. VAT and Duty paid by the carrier in the UK (Post Office, etc) who sends you a bill + handling charge. When you've paid them then they'll deliver.

Over £900 - VAT registration, import licences etc.

    Details are here:-

I wouldn't worry about it too much Ron, just sit back, relax and wait for it to drop.  You'll forget all about it and then it will arrive and will be a nice little surprise haha.  In all honestly Aliexpress on the whole is pretty good for refunds and disputes.  Disputes do take a while till you can active.  I've got one on the go at the moment, small item ordered on the 29th Oct, no show, tomorrow I can dispute, so 10 weeks in total...

Aye, I guess I'm too used to Western Customer Service. I'll tear open this 1kg bag of jerky and sit back.

haha yep, every single Chinese supplier I deal with sends me messages over Xmas saying if you want anything now you best make order otherwise could be end of Feb till they ship anything out.

I've asked them to cancel it but apparently its already shipped which I seriously doubt - (no evidence of this)

No, Wipson are fine. The trouble is Covid and Brexit at the moment. Expect to wait at least another two weeks for tracking, then two more months for delivery.

Huge backlogs in Chinese outgoing customs/shipping due to Covid, don’t expect good updates unless you speak mandarin (not just a translation page). Lots of vendors have decided not to ship yet as so much is going missing, but not telling customers that's what they are doing.

On the plus side, Ali is a massive business, and it’s very rare for both goods AND cash to go missing.

And then, it will take an extra two weeks to get through US customs

Urgh. I don't mind the waiting at all. It's the lack of communication that gets me. Even if it is in mandarin it'd be nice, instead someone who doesn't even represent the seller has had to explain for them and "fight" their corner.

Theres a lot of almost societal demand for someone to have a facebook prescence, as if somehow not being on facebook means your not a real person.

Twitter too, i work in a uni and not having a twitter account basically makes you a ghost.

It's scary the power and influence that social media has over us. I remember when smart phones first came out, at the time I used to take the train to work. I remember getting on the packed carriage and noticing that everyone had their heads down in complete silence and it was so surreal to see then however sadly now its just the norm. You've made a valid point of people feeling that they need a presence, a voice and to show others what / how their doing and its quite un-nerving as to how Orwellian everything seems to be going.

On top of that, the riots in America (a whole other thread I'm sure) how many in that footage brandishing smart phones and checking what's on their screen more than their actual eyes. Truly frightening and something to keep an eye on.

I have a real MP5 sling on mine , because the rear mount on the sling is a sort of tube buckle it holds nicely with no distortion of the sling point .👍

How does it fit pal? Mines the collapseable stock mate

  7. Hi all,

Just wondering any MP5 owners out there have an alternative to hanging the sling on the rear sling point as its extremely weak and I don't trust it at all as it's already starting to bend and disform the polymer rear. I was thinking paracord through the holes where the sling mount maybe? I know you can get buttstraps with a mount on but I don't want to ruin the aesthetics too much as I adore it.

    Thanks in advance

The problem with Airsoft Facebook groups is that they get swamped with "show us your M4 pictures" "is Taiwangun any good" and the perennial classic of asking for opinions on guns after they have bought them instead of before, or how to upgrade them when they have never even skirmished them.

I would however miss the pictures of loadouts in slippers because mum doesn't allow boots in the house, and the bad selfies in the bathroom mirror with pants drying on the radiator in the background.

There’s nothing like a whopping hairy toe in a picture.

    Stock motor? Not had that.

Granted you get a fair bit of free precocking but not enough to fire a second round.

Stock motor mate.. After wiring it to deans the 11.1 was the first thing I tried.. You can get away with one or two but after the 3rd - 4th round you get the overspin. My CYMA MP5 however loves the 11.1.
