    I find the dynatex bfg a better option after all the issues people had dealing with SWAT. But prefer a pouch over a kydex holder due to the risk of the pin getting snagged and pulling from the grenade. Yes thats the voice of experience and i have the scar to show from having a grenade go off on my waist and torch my ubacs.

      I got one second hand in a like-new condition from the classified section on here. Only skirmished it the once so far. Its my first ever aeg so am only comparing it to diabolically bad rentals, to me it feels like a dream obviously. Externals are pretty nice. I've heard reliability is iffy but can't really speak on that as I've not had the thing long enough. Trigger response seems snappy, shoots accurately and has a couple of nice bits like a maple rubber as standard. For what I paid it feels like a killer piece of kit.

      But then you go and look at someone who knows their shit, e.g Negative Airsoft on youtube, and he fucking hates them from what I've seen 🤷‍♂️

       

      Edit: The one I have is a VFC Avalon Saber Carbine - it comes out of the box with a maple leaf rubber, tightbore barrel, basic mosfet and some nice externals. Its definitely not the best gun in town but I got it for like 270 quid or something so I really can't complain, especially with combat machines going for 200+ these days

      It depends on which model you fancy. Some of them are shit and some of them are decent. Avalon series isn't bad at all. And then they made Sig AIR MPX/MCX which is a disgrace...

       

      VFC defo stepped up their game regarding GBBR though. Almost everyone praises their HK 416A5 or the new SIG MPX.

       

      I think the biggest problem with VFC is that it had very bad reputation regarding reliability and QC years ago and it difficult to change on that view especially when it's not popular in the UK compared to the States or Asia and your sample is gonna be always small because most of the people not gonna choose a VFC over a Marui/Cyma/G&G. So people keep parroting each other instead of trying one and see it for themselves. Other issue is that VFC is so freaking expensive compared to the rest.

      My personal view is that it's very difficult to fuck up AEG's nowadays. Internally 99% of them is the gonna be the same....

    well i can say that the essatec (sp) 9mm kydex inserts are great for everything except mags like the mk23's. I get a feeling that its going to be make do and mend with the crappy viper double mag pouch until i can source (for less that a small mortgage) the Blackhawk bts ones with talon flex.

    For the most part I have the gear squared away to a 'satisfactory' level. Don't really know what I will do regarding the holster as a mk23 is easier to draw from a dtd one especially with a suppressor attached. Also have to decided where to stick with the silver back suppressor or original Socom one. The main things to sort out are is the rif. The pics give a rough idea of where its at but i do also need to get some black boots at some point.

    The mundoairsofter page is the guide I have been going off of for bits of kit. Trying where best to get the original items and where its not so easy trying to find either good alternatives or if needs be something to work more for play style.

    Sorry for necroing my own post. But with the success of reviving my asg mk23 and with also being bored witless of running about in mtp/multicam. The time has come to start reviving this loadout. Some small updates. I ordered some kydex inserts for my sdouble pistol mag pouch to give it the retention like talonflex (talon flex seemed fairly difficult to find. For airsoft purposes running the mk23 sith the supressor removed seemed fairly pointless as it takes a while to draw the pistol, screw the supressor on etc. So a temporary trade off to run a belt mounted dtd holster has been made. I might reverse that decision for a more genuine look. I dont really know yet. I am also running an additional alice mag pouch on the left. It gives me room to run 6 magazines and also to use the right sided pouch to hold a bfg, reloads and resetting tool. As mentioned elsewhere im now in the process of saving up for a post london marathon treat of a new rif. So it seems inspiration and timing are coming together and settling my mind to try and build Walters Gun from the film, minus the reversed optics! But i'm not gun nut or in truth literate with all the gear etc. So can anyone tell me is there a decent rif that comes with M4a1 with older style Car 15 stock and Knights armaments RAS rail. A few other thoughts regarding the dbal. Most sites I play at are a bit funny about using lasers etc which i understand. Is there a decent dbal replica that swaps the laser for a decent light function? Again sorry for necroing my own post but i figure its far better than a spanking new thread.

    A pair of 9mm kydex inserts. Almost impossible to find blackhawk bts double mag pouches with talon flex. So trying to create something similar. Also ordered the hadron designs saviour for my asg mk23. Whilst hoping the latest attempt to stop the mags leaking is successful

      I'm just trying to stop one's leaking thatvhad already had everything everyone recommends done in the past. New valves, new routers, even stripped down and out silicon sealant around the oring and sides to prevent the base leaks

      I tried fixing mine too and they were gas tight for a game day before they sprung a leak again, plus one of my gas tight ones also sprung a leak so I just said "screw it" and gave up on them. Fortunately I have a bunch of STTI mags that have been gas tight for years, so I just swapped the feed lips and gas routers over because the STTI feed lips are wank

      I'm hoping it's sorted for now but we shall see. Stripped them, cleaned every oring, re lubed all the ones on valves and then redid the sealant on the base plate and inside of the mag. They have geld gas for 12 hours so far

    I think in my own around about way I have (mostly by writing and reading responses) got my own answer of another aeg. I have most of the required gear already one etc. I get the bolt stop and recoil from the kwa erg. Just feel it lacks a little of the responsiveness I get from my ics mars. So I think I need to find the middle ground of recoil for realism and responsiveness of thr electronics I get out of the ics mars.

    It's a bit of everything really. Hpa just seems to be the way everyone is heading locally and that leads to a lot of getting outgunned. The gbbr is a realism thing mostly. Aeg I know but frankly beyond a hop up bucking and nub I'm at zero on tech ability. As far as what role I want the rif to take. I don't have a defined primary as I swap back and forth between my current ics mars and kwa erg depending on my mood and game style. So a new rif could easily become a defined primary or just slip into the rotation of mood swings.

      What weight @Rogerborg watch and headphones are stupidly lightweight. Everything else is either neccessarybsoni dont get arrested for indecent exposure or tonhel prevent injury (compression calf sleeves as I suffer with constant calf strains, running socks because blisters suck)

      Unless you mean the about 2 stone of saggy baggage around my waist, in which case I really wish that would do one lol

    So i'm in the process of saving for that next big purchase. I ended up down to Just my ICS Mars SBR for a while last year and it freaked me out only having one rif. I have my KWA erg back and working now which is great. But made me realise i probably want another rif either as a primary going forwards or to give me the security of knowing if one of my others dies im not back down to 1 rif. But i cant really figure which way to go. Another aeg as apart from wiring to deans on a new rif i have everything i need. Apart from mags. If i go that way it will probably come down to a decision between another ICS as they are so easy to get fixed, another KWA because experience has shown they are built like tanks or a new venture into the land of Tokyo Marui. Or venture in the Gbbr world and that seems like its mostly a case of 'get a tm mws' if you want year round performance. Price wise that seems to be up there with a high end and probably upgraded aeg or lower end hpa rig. But it offers the realism i sought from my KWA erg. Or do i go billy big balls and save even futher and get the all singing all dancing wolverine mtw hpa rig. If i did i would probably go via airsmiths and have it tuned up. I have a background in running hpa paintball from years back when i used to play sup-air paintball. So have a jist of the pros and cons of lines, dive tanks etc. This takes off the realism aspect but seems to be the direction everyone locally is heading in. I wouldn't want to try and build an hpa set up from scratch in an old aeg as soldering a deans connector is about the limit of my electrical mastery. Its a hard call in my head and i have a few months to mull it over but thought i would through the thoughts your folks way.

    my own 2 pennies on the topic. WE and G&G never had a good experience with either. WE for their pistols and G&G i owned the original Predator. I never experienced so many issues with a rif feeding, accepting anything other than the single mag it was supplied with or generally just working as it should.

    Chelmsford half marathon completed today alongside the Mrs. I managed just under 2 hours she got back in just under 2hrs 45. Another step for us both on the journey to the London Marathon

    Big weekend for us both this weekend as we are running the Chelmsford Half marathon. Distance wise im not worried as i have covered half distance a few times and ran out to 16 miles 2 weeks ago. But under 'race' conditions i know i have to resist the urge to tear off and get burnt out early or repeat my cramping issues from the run Norwich race last year. The mrs on the other hand has this as a massive challenge. Her longest run to date is 11 miles. So shes going to have a physical and mental challenge come sunday. I am just hoping the weather holds up and we don't get a repeat of when she ran her 1st ever 10k at Run Norwich last october where it absolutely bucketed down on us for atleast half the race.

    Worst is hands down my G&G predator. Never had so many issues with mags, parts etc. Best really comes down to a few things. Out of the box was my Krytac Lvoa. It was also the best looking rif i have ever had. Performance wise was a ICS L85 that had a madbull inner barrel and prommie purple bucking. I dont know why but that thing just shot amazingly both in terms of range and accuracy. For sheer giggles its my beloved Pts/kwa rm4 erg. Looks good, performs pretty well and kicks like a donkey in airsoft terms.

    I never really throw them a great distance (usually just to clear rooms/buildings) The story of the fire. I was pinned down behind a fall tree and some shrubs, wriggling around until, eventually a bb broke through the cover and I got hit. Stood up army raised and bang, ouch and a burn sensation thought I had just taken a stinger to the side of the belly or caught the after shock of a flash bang. I was wrong. Apparently the pin on my bfg had snagged in thrle shrubs and as I stood up it had been pulled just enough to release the spoon on the grenade without completely pulling clear. The bang was a nice 9mm round going off. The sting and burn was the flash of the round exiting the grenade, burning through my Leo kholer atacs ix ubacs which apparently isn't fire resistant, then setting a section of my under armour base layer to thermo nuclear and melting it. The burn which on my side had various bits of said base layer in it and it took a good few weeks to heal up. Ofcourse my mates were sympathetic and decided i had gone full suicide bomber on them. Oh and yes I carried on playing the rest of the day and chick's dig scars right......right?

    Got out to battleastations activities on sunday for the 1st time in nearly a year. Thoughts. ICS mars rocked as usual. KWA erg, new hop rubber and a bit of tlc rocked along (thankfully). I suck with pistols. Dynatex timed bfg's are so darn reliablke even if i have set myself on fire with one before. I can also fog up anything in existence. ESS crossbow supressors, fog stop, Delta Mike face pro and a helmet. Blind as a bat. Marathon training meant i didnt feel as knackered as i usually would. Battlestations site. Maybe it's nostalgia. But i prefer the old site with battletown and modern warfare. But the new site works well enough. Just feels a tad samey between the 2 fields. Could also really use some netting between the 2 gamezones to stop the accidental shooting across zones.

    Cheers Colin. Is there any specific miles from the ones remaining that you would like the names put against. I'm pretty sutra my sanity checked out of the building the minute I sent my payment to confirm the marathon place. But it's all In a good cause even if I never manage to walk properly again afterwards.

    Have had to rest up most of this week as i pulled up with a minor strain on my calf last Sunday. Been it seems to have healed uo ok. Will be tested tomorrow at park run then a long run Monday (should be Sunday but a rare chance to go out and play airsoft has arisen) Got into the deep and expensive world of proper hydration yesterday and I hold the youtuber Mark Lewis responsible as he shares my issues with cramping. Counting down the days to Chelmsford half marathon as a real tester of where I am at.

    Just picked up a set of British aircrew ubacs and combat bottoms in mtp. With my history of setting myself on fire with my own grenade, the subsequent burn hole in my atacs ix ubacs and a tear in my atacs ix trousers. It was time for some new stuff. On the plus side its also flame retardant. Which tbe gut at hoopers surplus was more than happy to point out amongst all our giggling at me explaining the story.

    Made a decision and update today in regards to the memory miles. Instead of just writing the names on the running jersey or having a temporary tattoo. We are going to make some ribbons up with each mile/name on and attach them to the running tops with safety pins. After the marathon we will give/send them to each person who donated to the memory miles.

    Ither larger and more rules accessible games can be found. Mantic ganes and a lot of the stuff from cool mini or not. Mantic probably has the better and cheaper deal of the 2. With models that are decent enough as lo g as your not expecting then to be the high quality that gw pumps out
