  1. Been waiting on this all day... This thing has a kick & I'm extremely pleased with it, the stocks a bit wobbly but planning on replacing it anyway (along with the grip). This was on pre-order (from the day I posted my weakness) & arrived by DPD today.

    Field Gear

My loadouts (if I wore them all), but is really part of my collection. I tend to use the MTP webbing & DPM chest rig but have used the Osprey mk4 and the DPM PLCE but the rest is kit I can wear, but haven't yet (it's all adjusted to fit my fat arse). The Osprey mk4 has different panels set up for P90, 5.56, 7.62 & 9mm mags. The full Osprey mk4 is really just for display & has TOO MANY attachments. Will buy an Osprey mk4 belt at some point which will even up the mag distribution. The Bundeswehr field gear is currently set up for G3 mags but I have pouches for G36 mags too. The DDPM vest has G36 pouches. The UCP FLC fits well but the carry handle digs into the middle of my neck so uncomfy to wear(could remove it but want to keep it stock). The UCP TAP is ok but very front heavy. The Pattern 58 is the first set I got because it was my webbing from my time in the TA & responsible for my collections. I also collect the Bergens & field packs to go with most of these sets, & some helmets.

Might do my own version of this except it’s just a 10 minute video of me in a storm drain bashing pots together and viscerally screaming “It’s not a license, stop saying it’s a license” Over and over again.

  7. I have been involved in airsoft for a little over 30 years, between that and my day job, my body is old and broken and I have expanded in girth. But I have no intention of stopping, merely adjusting. I am of the opinion now that I need to be slower and further from the action, so sniping is on the cards (maybe DMR in a ghillie) I am looking at the Novvi SSX303 (a Mk23 carbine) as a primary and maybe a Mk23 as a secondary for mag.compatability. My issue is previous Novvi experiences have been bad. The SSQ22 (KC02 copy) was awful and I don't fancy the disappointment again. Does anybody have firsthand experience with the SSX303? Will it work as a DMR / sniper platform? Are there comparable alternatives i should be considering for a stealthy option?

  11. With my Sixmm order arriving, the m14 scope mount looks great; will put that away with the TNT hop unit for when I do the WE m14 project... However, to nobody's surprise, they sent me the wrong bloody springs, so now I need to source some G&G m700 gas router springs for my 6 short magazines that I'm upgrading to (hopefully) be usable. The stock KJW m700 short magazines are awful out of the box, but with the upgraded gas router spring and the upgraded strikers and internals they're supposed to be really good. Got the internals sorted, now just need those springs!

  16. In terms of the terminals on the mini-Tamiya connector, the circle would be the red cable and the square would be the black cable so if you were converting it to Deans, the cable from the circle terminal of the mini-Tamiya would be soldered on to the horizontal part of the Deans "T" whereas your square terminal cable from the mini-Tamiya would be soldered on to the vertical part of the Deans "T".

  18. Thanks all for the suggestions. I am anti-HPA so that option is out for me, I'm afraid. (In engineering terms, it is a fantastic method to sling plastic balls down a brass tube, i just don't like additional stuff and the evolutionary step backwards) I've had the DMR powered AEGs out this evening, testing various set ups for noise. Also found my old MK1 Ruger Carbine. Made a custom suppressor for it with 3d printed baffles and foam. The trigger click is louder than the muzzle noise. With 5x 17rnd mags, I'm gonna give that a go (because I already own it) Tried my son's Ares boltie. I could get used to that i suppose. I note the weight issue with the mags for the Novvi. I'll put that on hold for now. I used to have a Cyma M14 SOCOM, all tricked out by the previous owner. I loved it. Range, accuracy, quietness (still at 340fps) but to use an optic on it i needed a neck like a giraffe! Just took a look at the Tac41... I'll do some more research into that as it could be a winner. Thanks again.

  20. Resorting to fists over a game of toy soldiers and toy guns is very sad, every time I see it happen it makes me cringe (thankfully I don’t see it often), usually it’s the player banged to rights in the wrong that wants to roll around in the grass

  21. Hand held cordless, I've snapped a pic of the bits I used too. It's not perfect as the chamfer tool is too steep angled to perfectly smooth it all out but it's a bloody good job for 10 mins work and worked really well on the Sunday. With a 4uantum bucking and nub I was getting 60-70m range on .3

Lets take a run of the mill AEG, give it a shit paint job, chuck some shite mags in and a cheap Chinese red dot, get it signed by an ex special forces soldier who was never issued the real version of the weapon (If you squint it looks like an HK416) and slap a huge price on it Aware these had a high RRP but still baffles me Tempting, but think I'll pass on this one

    After rough prices

Really sorry to hear about your loss. Depending on your location, Stack Up Airsoft may be worth speaking to as they often buy bundles. All of your kit may be more than they have room for at the moment but I'd imagine they'll take a decent chunk of it off your hands. Austeyr's advice on the percentage of retail is sound but you should bear in mind that Stack Up Airsoft will likely offer you less than 60-70% of retail because they want to turn a profit themselves. I hadn't been lowballed by anything I'd sold to them.

    Vfc rifle upgrades

The VFC AK, genuinely, does not need any aftermarket internally. A few people have tried different barrels, buckings, etc in it but it doesn't give any benefit. Everything is steel as well. Only things I'd suggest is installing an X-ring in the nozzle, and of course an adjustable valve. First one gives better cycling in the cold, the latter should just be in everything it's that handy. You can get real parts for the AK if you wanna dress it up a bit btw. DandBMilitaria is UK based and has some nice stuff. I got a proper sling for mine, for example. The URGI can need some TLC but honestly don't fuck with it unless you have issues. There's mods to fix hop inconsistency and improve cycling, but it can be fiddly to get them set up.

  31. I've had both mws and vfc rifles among other gbb platforms. I've since sold all my mws rifles and kept buying vfc . I've not had an issue with accuracy and certainly nothing that couldn't be solved by a new hop rubber if I couldn't be bothered to wear in the stock hop

  32. There were two groups from what I gathered. One was great and nobody had issues with them, and one was not-so-great and I heard complaints all through the day about them. I think we got into a firefight with your lot very early on the Saturday and I didn't have any issues with that firefight. People took their hits on both sides (I tagged one and then watched him hoping he'd bait in the medic who never showed up ) and the remnants of our group eventually fell back because there were only like... 3 of us left and we didn't fancy our chances with the Aussies and other US special forces group patrolling around. The guy who full auto'd me in the face did it after I was hit and waving my medic bandage around (so if that was you, for shame! ), and was way after we had fallen back from engaging what I assume to be your group, regrouped with another NVA unit and then got sandwiched between this other group and one of the Aussie teams. I don't want people to think that I was saying that all the NATO guys were awful, that couldn't be further from the truth; every group was great on both sides, apart from one group which was notably awful. And as much as I said the other group sucks, it still doesn't top my first Vietnam game a few years back where some guy squared up to me and wanted to start a fight after I told him that none of our objectives were in our spawn and were all out on people in the field because the US weren't allowed to be in our spawn. That was a... um... interesting encounter. In terms of the complaints I heard from the US side, they were limited (as I was VC and only spoke to a few US guys who were camped near us), but the complaints I heard were basically around bad attitudes. Obviously they're not going to have the same non-hit-taking complaints as we had of them because they weren't shooting at them. At least, I hope they wouldn't be

  37. I was also at this event, on one of the US special forces teams and I must say, what I saw and experienced does not match up with your account. Whether I was in the group you had perceived issues with, I don't know but regardless, I didn't see a single instance of non hit taking. Nor did Josh or any other staff member/marshal mention anyone on the enemy team had made any accusations about non hit taking. We had an excellent medic who was generally ideally located to get people back in the fight. The weight of BBs in one of our LMGs (mine, which was our LMG for Saturday morning) was questioned by a marshal and I confirmed 0.3s. This was perhaps after you got shot in the face at 10m. If it was indeed me that shot you in that instance, I do apologize but I think it needs to be known that the context wasn't that I saw someone out in the open and then just decided to aim at their face and full auto as I certainly wouldn't do that. I would say 90% of engagements happened through vegetation and I'm sure you'll agree, in many instances it was a case of shooting through leaves where you could just about make someone out. And an LMG is decent at that kind of thing. I don't recall shooting at anyone close up in full auto fwiw. What exactly were the complaints coming from the US side? I'm intrigued.

  39. As someone who has been going to Gunman events of all kinds for over 12 years, and one of the aforementioned player marshalls at many of them ( I help run the WARPAC forces in the Cold War games) I feel qualified to say that your general attitude (as evidenced by your posts) is not what we want at Gunman events.

Echoing the above, I would think that studs/cleats a sensible option to play in - transitioning from muddy areas to hard ground, crossing tree roots, heading into buildings, crossing bridges, entering any kind of man made structure, moving over improved path surfaces - in all of these scenarios, having studs/cleats on your boots is downright dangerous. Boots with a deep, self cleaning tread+ a softish flexible sole that allows you some feel through them is the way forward. Big clompy military boots (at least the genuine issue ones) which are mostly made as a compromise to allow the carrying of significant weight will mostly fail the latter criteria.

  42. Seems I struck a nerve 🤣 And yes, I'm calling it as I saw it on the day and with these responses I'm definitely not retracting my statement. There were so many complaints on the Saturday and they were all about your group. If it was just me, I'd have made assumptions that I wasn't hitting, or I was just getting unlucky etc, but since there were numerous complaints, from all different people (on both the NVA and some on the US side), all about the same group, I was far more confident in my assessment. Your response just reinforces it. Funnily enough, the non-hit taking from your group that I observed was not from my rifle, but from my pistol up close. I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt, but with so many anecdotes on the day from so many different people, and now with your reaction, what am I supposed to think? Also, Eversley Alpha is a fantastic site to snipe at if you know where to play. The last Vietnam game I played there I had a field day in that valley, but the way it happened to be set up this time around made getting there significantly more difficult for the NVA side. The bog and the middle parts of the site are awful for sniping, and that is where we happened to be. If I knew how the game would flow, I would've just used my MWS, but funnily enough, you have to play the game to work out how it will flow. And if you'd actually read what I wrote, you'd have seen that I specifically said that "a group of shitty players" was exactly not the reason why I didn't enjoy myself and admitted that it was a mix of other factors without any blame but myself (and a little bit on the guy in my group who dropped out (for no real reason, and at the 11th hour) and left us short-handed for how we usually play)
