The problem is this dickhead is going through Pm's Sure, but if he doesn't have access to classified section he can't see anything wanted or for sale. So he won't know who to pm. If that makes sense..

  2. tl;dr, sounds like a skill issue. Fewer hits, more satisfaction per hit.

On another forum there's a 50 post minimum before you get access to the classifieds section. It's not a bad idea I don't think. It's a pain if you're new and want to buy/sell stuff but it would definitely prevent a few scammers like this guy. Also I can't be the only one who gets a bit nervous when someone with 0 post count who joined 5 mins ago wants to buy something of mine.

    GHK Glock 17 Gen 5

I've received my GHK gen 5 today from a fellow member on here, the cerakote alu version. It's a really nice finish on the slide and really nice to shoot. I've put the patch to good work and it's gone to live with my GHK gen 3 steel The mags are interchangeable, with the the gen 5 mags being easier to release the base plate with a fingernail lever instead of just the press in button on the gen 3 mag

  6. At a game the other day, there was a bloke in a ghillie just standing in the open, or in wooden structures, as if it was an invisibility cloak. Couldn't help but laugh at him really.

  8. I've been playing for 20 years now and I agree. AEGs have certainly come along way in terms of performance in that time. I think alot of the changes have happened as a result of airsoft becoming less of a niche hobby, whether those changes are positive or negative can and will be debated till the cows come home. For example youtubers are loved and despised in equal amounts but there's no denying they've brought new people into the game and I'd even say they're probably part of the reason so many newbies want to but sniper rifles. Combined with the rise in online gaming many get the false impression sniping is just putting the cross hairs on the target and pulling the trigger. It's a similar situation with ghillie suits, people buy them thinking they'll become invisible and forget about fieldcraft. The thing is though, for an average sunday skirmish everyone has paid the same green fees and so are free to play how they want (within site rules obviously). Mind you I'd rather be surrounded by M4 wielding Bush wookies than speed softers with their day glo drum fed hi cappas

Unfortunately there's not much that can be done to make sure the forum is completely free of scammers, just do enough to put them off. I like the idea of having a post count before getting access to the classifieds. Sure this might put off people who only want to buy/sell but if they're not engaging with the rest of the forum are they going to be missed? Imo the most effective way of staying on top of any scammers is to have admin who are quick to deal with any who rear their ugly heads and a community who look out for each other and aren't afraid to call out bullshit. Fortunately this place is pretty good at that, especially compared to other forums or social media platforms

  11. A day with a bolty set to aeg levels is great fun. The first skirmish I played with my K98 included a newly dug 'trench clearance' game. The satisfaction of getting a solitary hit was immense. As Impulse's German friend said, 'it's how you hit them.' The actual overall performance is not a factor in fun per pew.

    Systema

You'll only truly know if you own one. They were the formula 1 racing car of the Airsoft world.....when they worked they were amazing compared to everything else on the market at the time. They sounded amazing, could have great range, very fast trigger response, real steal sized receivers and pistol grip etc. true precision engineering. However, they were susceptible to breaking (especially when they got wet), the techs did (and do) charge a fortune for their time, mags were finicky, parts were expensive and they needed regular servicing. They forged the way on a lot of things. The competition has improved massively, the range, rate of fire and trigger response (MOSFETs weren't common, now are) are all much improved on an off the shelf aeg than they were back then, the performance gap is a lot less, but the price difference and now rarity of parts mags etc is still big. That's without considering genuine upgrades. Gbbrs have also improved, so if those real steel, split receiver functions are important to you, they'll probably scratch that itch better and for at lot less cash. There is also now the gbls das, which looks to try to fill that "milsim" gap but with more functionality at a similar price. In the day, people who owned them swore by them.....but I've seen lots transfer over to upgraded tm recoils and gbbrs. There's still a few die hards out there, but my opinion is and has been that it's a dying platform

  15. The KWA ERG's are very solid reliable guns that need nothing more than a Softer hop rubber to make them good to go. Having said that these are not available in the UK yet for some reason, unless you know something I don't.

Yup, anything that takes effort will possibly discourage them. plus the wait for the post to be “approved” would hopefully encourage them to shuffle off elsewhere

It's not about what they say, it's about making them post in the first place. Scammers won't be inclined to post at all, because they just want access to the classifieds, so any casual scammers will be instantly blocked. This would likely also frustrate any bots or any scammers using automated tools specifically tweaked to this forum's software (as there is now a step that requires human intervention).

But surely anybody can say whatever like in an introduction thread, pretty sure it wont be like: "Gor blimey guvnor, an introduction thread, you've got me bang to rights & no mistake"

  24. Not an owner but I was once a 'freebie loving' bike journo. Genuinely never wrote/said anything I wouldn't say to a friend spending their own money but either way, I am no longer a journalist, so there's nowt in it for me. The issue with the DCT gearboxes is that in standard modes, they just want to rush to top as quickly as possible. It's very easy to find yourself in 6th at 30. With the gearbox in the sporty mode they're a bit better but still hit and miss - I used to put Africa Twins straight to S3 and they still felt about 10bhp down on the standard bike. They've definitely improved the changing gear seemingly at random/mid-corner problems they used to have but it's far from perfect and it only takes one really ropey shift to catch you off-guard. On the Wing, they make some sense especially if you use the crawl mode in traffic, but on the rest of the range I'd honestly just stick with the manual.

  25. Yep a decent test ride is the plan, what is stupid is the number of dealerships that DONT have test ride bikes, about 10 years ago I considered a GS1200, nearest dealer didn't have a test bike, so I said "fine, what about that secondhand one your selling ?" Dealer replies "your not getting it, the GS is our top selling bike, we don't need to offer test rides" My reply meant I wasn't welcomed back there🤣

  32. Probably true, Motorrads were queued out the door with stockbrokers and accountants when Long Way Round came out, and the 1150/1200/1250 GS has been the top selling bike >125cc every year since. Even though it killed Kevin Ash in a tankslapper due to the head shake that BMW to this day insists that the water-cooled bikes don't have, and which BWM then fixed by adding a steering damper for the head shake that BMW insists to this day that the water-cooled bikes don't have. 😠
