Bad Publicity?
John_W and 2 others reacted to Cr0-Magnon for a topic
I don't understand why people are even bothering to discuss KM. He makes normal gameplay videos - few thousand views over the course of several weeks. Makes sod all money. He makes clickbait and overly confrontational videos showing he purposely goes for headshots - appeals to the non airsofter "lads" and COD teens crowd, plus gets regular airsofters discussing him non-stop. Millions of views a week & some serious cashola. Whether what he is doing for airsoft is good or bad is a moot point. I'm sure he knows why people have issues with him but doesn't care because either way, video views pay the bills. If airsoft sites don't like what he's doing, they should just make it clear he's not welcome to play there. If enough do it, he'll run out of gameplay content.3 points -

Sounds like a good idea. Teaching basics like good communication, team work, moving as an actual team. I am ex-SAS and even I would have a go at this. Not that I'm boasting mind, they let anyone into Suffolk Agricultural Services these days.3 points -
Southside Airsoft Youtube Channel
GAMBLE and one other reacted to Andropheonix for a topic
Hi Guys, Relatively recently I started a channel, initially to try and get some of the lads involved which has luckily paid off quite well, making my regular team of 2 into 5 or 6! I've made a few videos of various things like gameplay, reviews, tips and unboxing - all pretty amateur stuff so far. Starting with no video/audio creating or editing experience, I've slowly acquired better knowledge and equipment, and content is going up although in a sporadic upload schedule... Hopefully when the lockdown is over I'll be back out, meeting people and get more gameplay videos up too! I would be grateful for any feedback, subs, comments or questions. Stay safe my dudes! 🤙 SouthSide Airsoft - YouTube2 points -

Please don't take any offence when I say this, but when someone, with a very low post count, asks how unfuck their paint-stripping antics, it generally sets off alarm bells. For every well educated and informed individual, there are a dozen dickheads that could potentially fuck everything up for the rest of the community. It would have been remiss of us not to question your intentions. I hope we haven't scared you away from the forum - it's a very useful resource with many experienced hands on board that can help point you in the right direction when you need it.2 points -
Instead of imposing a limit on all sites, would it not be easier to impose a limit on Siggi and KM? Everyone agree on 0?2 points

So my first rif (2nd hand) arrived this morning. It’s a Cybergun ak47u. As it was a few years old and the previous owner hadn’t opened it for a few years I thought I’d give it a bash, well that was a learning curve! (The trigger spring and reverse latch! What little bastards!) It was definitely worth stripping down, compression was non-existent, cylinder head was ok but piston seal was so loose it had no chance of sealing. Replaced and all good. it had obviously had work in the past, it was shimmed well and needed no adjustment there, but the bushes need to be replaced. Also all the wiring has been soldered at the motor and trigger which made working on it slightly more of a pain (will replace all cables and install mosfet soon). The spring could also do with being replaced and bearing guide fitted. Exiting spring has a pretty poor cut job on it. Cleaned lubed and rebuilt. Had a bit of a faff with the trigger but got there eventually. Had an issue then with not being able to select semi, cause found to be bad position of wire when I rebuilt it, adjusted and now all good. Now waiting on payday to get some replacement parts ordered and then just the wait to get to use it!1 point

Ooh interesting idea, I guess that makes the GDPR angle easier as you control your data and who (other than the sysadmin) gets to see it. Having a database of personal information linked to gun* ownership isn't a headache I would want! UKARA (from their GDPR statement) seems to want to keep all the data in perpetuity...not sure how legal that is (guess who spent a day doing Data Protection Act training today!)1 point

A lot of airsofters overlook rifle ergonomics in favour of more FPS or fancy sights when it’s an area where small changes can make a huge difference to your shooting. One of the big reasons all my GBB rifle builds use the same grip. I have found an angle that works for me so I use it all the time, nothing speeds target acquisition than having a rifle that naturally points where you are looking.1 point -
Sure it's a big problem, I was chatting to an app developer I used to work with and he was looking into developing an alternative system, not spoke to him for a while but I liked the ideas he was putting forward. Basically register on website / app, then app on phone with QR code get scanned when you play, when you want to prove your defense you can give out a one-time passcode / URL to view the info.1 point

All seems a bit weird to me. What about handling them after they have been soaked? I can imagine they are gonna be a bit like boiled garden peas. And if you have ever tried to load garden peas in your mk23 mag then you will know it's a right mess! Regards1 point

I for one am SUPER DUPER BORED at the moment and this is the most interesting UK Airsoft thing to talk about. The guy stalking him is almost as entertaining as the drama itself. Even if its all actually shit Also, since i hate cheaters ( and speedsofters ) with a fiery passion. Hearing this cheat is getting banned from more and more sites. It is bringing a little joy to the repetitive life, we are currently in. Maybe once he is banned from every site in the UK. His videos will dry up and we wont have to every hear about him again. Or he moves abroad and then hes no longer our problem1 point

Just something to think about, and whilst I still think the guy is an absolute legend, just to provide some context for you. He raised £33m for NHS Staff Funds. My wife works as a Physiotherapist in the NHS. The money this fella raised is being frittered away on useless shite cos they aren't allowed to do more with it. For instance, they have gave my wife a voucher for £3 for the last 3 weeks to spend. Absolutely pointless when there are so many other areas it could benefit staff. And remember, this guy was so upset by the state of the NHS and the situation the Tories have left it in after 10 years of austerity that he felt the need to walk around his garden to do something about it. Consider that. Anyway RIP Sir.1 point -

There was this squad of 6 known collectively as the rangers... well that's what we called them. They were all kitted out in the same team gear, with jar-head haircuts, full comms and so on... they even had team tattoos!!! They basically kept themselves to themselves..... with the odd small chit chat to anyone who dare speak to them. But the fact of the matter was tactically they worked so well together and dare I say it we were kinda wanting to be on their side.... it was obvious they had had group training and they knew their stuff...1 point
-
I would be interested in it as long as everyone is still aware it's just airsoft yano. Would feel silly to take it very very seriously but of course if there are left tactics you can transfer that would be cool. Don't Spartan Airsoft have a training thing for AFO Police?1 point
-
I can actually add some weight to this. I had police ask if they could speak to me. Because someone I used to associate with, who had seen the RIFs in my home had informed them that I had some kind of firearm. Two non armed police officers came to my door, no warrant, and politely explained and asked if they could see said firearm. Upon discovering it was a RIF they chuckled, had no further questions, didn't ask for a defence and simply left.1 point

No i mean, he has a point. There are much better chassis to throw a pistol into if you want that carbine'esk look. These and I think I saw an airsoft MP5K briefcase ones. Both silly money and make zero sense. Other than for like 5 seconds of "look at this" in the safe zone or some hardcore role play. Its not like you are going to get the drop on someone in the woods... "Wait... I think that suitcase might be ... yes yes hes shooting at me now"1 point

The hats they do are horrendously expensive new, about £90. I haven't seen any other ts ones for sale on the web other than the 2nd hand one I got. They did a frogskin one too. Proper hipster company they make the stuff with original fabrics mostly on olde worldy sewing machines of ww2 to 70s cut/styling gear.1 point

That needs a tan pistol grip. Otherwise my OCD will just play up. I’d have attack it with a tan coloured sharpie 😂1 point

Way back years ago, Sterling Airsoft used to offer such 'event's where they would teach special tactics. I've just checked their website and they are still around but obviously shut coz of Covid. No idea what the prices were back then but it's got to be circa £50+ per person depending upon numbers... I mean it's not gonna be cheap lets face it... time is money and time is valuable. The key to any good tactical play is team work and communication. I have often seen small squads all kitted up and constantly in comms with each other, but they are mostly the minority and then I see them working with themselves and not with any other groups. They moved well, they moved with purpose and they looked as though they knew what they were doing, so you wanted to tag along to stay alive and learn something... However, Airsoft for many is pure fun and having a laugh and getting away from the kids and the wife... and many would probably not give two hoots about tactics etc... It would be nice to learn some basic tactics and suddenly become a Seal Team 6 operative for a few hrs... I'd jump at the chance and I'm sure many others would too.. but it only works if there is a squad of you else it's not gonna be fun will it? And also, it's airsoft, the only important thing is capturing that flag so charge in with both barrels. If you get shot.... shit happens... go to regen and start agian... and again and again... (unless you only have 2 lives )1 point

Yeah and how to thrown mk5's into a room without the feckin thing hitting the door frame, bouncing out and killing six of your team stacked up in corridor amid cries of 'wanker', 'muppet',' fuck sake mate'. Oh how we laughed......well I did 🤭 💣💥 Regards1 point

I'd be interested the main parts that would help in airsoft would be CQB tactics and anything that helps with staying unspotted on the way to objective. Theres deffo a market for it, but make sure you seperate the real tactics that work on a battlefield and the real tactics that work on the airsoft field. Most airsofters are interested in military knowledge even if its not applicable for skirmishing, but the cqb tactics deffo would be good for most people. How to use cover and shoot from cover could also be handy and grenade throwing is something that could help.1 point -

Nearly! They're tiny! The'yre also not very good 😅 I had the MP5 about 20 years ago originally, they take about 80-100 bbs in through the top of the gun, like a hopper.. Fires about the same distance as a springer pistol and only does full auto. But they're funny as hell. Wanted another for ages now for the lols, but the Marui ones are hard to come usually unless you import from Rainbow 8 etc. Didn't want the shitty orange ones they sell at Justbb. The mini Uzi is the coolest of the lot I think1 point

While I can't comment on druids playing style etc, personally I only generally use single shot, especially gratifying with my M14 & fal, & hopefully my new G3, & all my guns are sub 1j, all running between 300-335 FPS (but well sit up hops) & do well in a sneaky dmr stylee, if a knackered old fartknocker like me can get by with less than 1j, then surely it won't hold back fitter livelier players. The point I, & I suspect druid was making, was that in these anti gun times, if the sport was threatened in any way, a 1j ruling would be one possible way to placate those who lobby against us ?1 point

After taking delivery and a bit of playing around tarting up my first PTW, I already want a 2nd one... Truth is though my budget has been blown this month so, unless I can find a bargain, I’m looking to potentially build a swappable upper to quick convert this to a CQB. Now, I’m new to PTWs and this one is FCC with Systema parts so, I’m a little unsure of compatibility. Any idea of UK places where I can find the right parts (upper receiver, cqb length inner/outer barrel, short RIS & suppressor) please. Spec below: FCC upper/lower with Knights logo engraved, Cerakoted DarkEarth FCC 16inch convertible outer barrel , Varanas SPR precision barrel FCC Cylinder 330 FPS +Systema hop up1 point -
ITAS have run some level 1 and 2 days for CQB, adapting "real" tactics for use in airsoft as they don't all translate. I went on the Lv1 day with 2 others from the team and we had two trainers between 6 of us, one ex-RM who airsofts quite a bit, and an ex(?) SF guy. Really high quality training and ran from about 10am to 5pm including a final "kill house" exercise. Cost was twice a regular walk-on fee but worth every penny due to the high quality of the teaching (talk through, demonstrate, walk through then try a few times with immediate feedback)1 point
