Supporters Lozart Posted December 23, 2014 Supporters Share Posted December 23, 2014 Just noticed that the flash hider on my (not quite as shiny as it is supposed to be) new G&G 30th Anniversary M4 which I bought, is broken at the tip. I've emailed them about it; hopefully they will send me a replacement one rather than making me go through all the hassle of packaging the thing up and sending the entire gun back to them and having them send me another. I would have thought that'd make more sense, since it would cost them less to stick a flash hider in an envelope than it would to courier a new gun to me. Broken? How? Chock
The flash hider is plastic, part of the tip of it has a bit chipped out of it, in roughly a triangular shape. It actually looks a little bit like its a deliberate cut out to compensate for muzzle climb, and at first I though it was, but when you look closely at the flash hider, you can see it is part which is broken off as it is a very obvious rough snapped edge. Chock
i think it's meant to be like that. if you mean like this then it's just the design Nah, I know what you mean, and it may be meant to look like the pic you posted, as I know some flash hiders are like that, but if you look at this pic, you can see it is very obviously not a smooth finish if there is meant to be a compensating cut out part, so if that is supposedly what the finished part looks like, then it is as rough as a bear's arse and quite clearly not up to par. Check out these pics of it, that is very obviously a chipped edge, not smooth at all. Of course I could file it smooth, and if they tell me they're all like that then i will do so, but frankly, it's very ropey casting and QC if they really are all like that:

Supporters M_P Posted December 23, 2014 Supporters Share Posted December 23, 2014 G&g ones tend to look a bit crap like that probably just one that's slightly worse done.

Chock
Looks like it's been done with a tile nibbler to me lol, Still, ticket in with Airsoft World and has been acknowledged by email, so we'll see what they say. Their customer service is usually pretty good in my experience; I certainly wouldn't wish to put anyone off dealing with them, although I'm not really expecting to hear anything detailed back about it until after Christmas at this late date. There's no rush anyway, it's not like I'm short of guns to go skirmishing with, really I just got that M4 because it was a decent price for a metal G&G and in fairness, it does look the dog's bollocks in spite of that minor issue, but it's probably going to end up being a back up to my D-Boys M4 SIR, because that thing is really accurate. Having said that, the mag which comes with that G&G one is very nice with its accurate 5.56 stampings and it's a bit longer than all my other M4 mags too, so it looks really good, thus the G&G's mag at least might get an outing! Supporters Ian_Gere Posted December 23, 2014 Supporters Share Posted December 23, 2014 Yeah, tile nibbler was exactly my thought (by way of glass grozer {which is a more specialised version of the same thing}), probly some casting crud left behind which was taken off with a tad too much enthusiasm. AW CS has always been good to me also, so i expect they'll replace it as soon as they get to your place in the queue.
Supporters Ian_Gere Posted December 24, 2014 Supporters Share Posted December 24, 2014 On the 15th I bought a KWA Tokarev TT-33 mag from AEGcartAsia.com and a few of us have chatted about their low prices for mags; if anyone was waiting to see how others got on with them, it arrived yesterday. Eight days is pretty good from Hong Kong and they enclosed a 5% discount code for my next order. So yeah, I'm recommending them. Chock
Yup, I certainly recommend aegcartasia, I got a five percent discount card with my last couple of orders from them too. They average about 10 days to get stuff to me, which ain't bad. They are my 'go to' site for airsoft magazines because of the prices, for example, my last order from them was for five E&C 160 round M4 magazines, and that cost me £23.31 (that's including postage) i.e. each mag cost me £4.66 in total, which is mega dirt cheap. Chock
Airsoft World replied to my ticket after I sent them some pics of the damaged flash hider on my G&G and said they would source a replacement and post it out to me, although it might take em a while, which is good customer service in my book, as the replies to my emails were very prompt, so I replied, that as long as it got sorted at some point, then there's no rush, as obviously it is a busy time for them as it is for all businesses doing mail order at Christmas. Anyway, since it is now daylight, I figured I'd take a pic of the damage so that it could actually be properly seen. Pretty obvious on a pic in daylight: cavninja
DX115FALCON
Bought myself a black WE G17 on Saturday. No pictures yet, because my parents are holding it hostage until Christmas day. Will have photos up either tomorrow, or on Boxing day. Airsoft_Mr B

Pretty obvious on a pic in daylight: That's the shape they're supposed to be but you're right - it does look like it was done by the apprentice. On a Friday. Will Lewer
Didn't have the time to post on Xmas Eve, but I got my rifle! It feels great and the two tone doesn't look too bad! (It's two tone only across the top of the rifle and from a distance it looks like an all black rifle). Haven't had the time to shoot it yet, however the battery is on charge and I plan to shoot it tomorrow morning! Also purchased some gloves, Blaster devil bbs and an extra mag and battery. Not long until my first Skirmish at Holmbush DOGTAG Airsoft in January, so you could say the rifle arrived just in time! (I'm considering purchasing some extra accessories for my gun as well as gear and maybe a secondary). Anyway overall I'm very pleased with my rifle and cannot wait to test it out tomorrow! Also Chock I think the flash hider is meant to be like that as mine is exactly identical to your photo (with the cut out). However, I agree that it's not a smooth finish and isn't well done (at first I thought it was a chip)! Although, I could be wrong and it could just be a coincidence that both of our flash hiders have been damaged. cavninja and Airsoft_Mr B
