Supporters TheFull9 Posted April 15 Supporters Share Posted April 15 I've never personally seen a positive review of any of these events, not denying some might exist but I've only come across scathingly negative reports. I'm honestly shocked to the point of comedy that they're still going 😂 I feel like they're only saved by the fact that there's very, very little else in terms of options for big weekend games that aren't leet-hardcore muh-imershuns MiLsiM which will entice people to go to the expense and effort of significant travel; especially given the rare and unusual sites they somehow (??) manage to obtain usage of. I don't run sites, zero experience in that area, but the impression I get is that people who have done it for years are constantly tweaking their layouts and games to make best use of the physical area available. They usually start off with at least minor issues, often major ones, but if they refine the site over time they've got a chance of keeping a place going long term. Hence, I would personally have pretty much no expectations of an unusually large game running even close to smoothly at any location that's never been used for airsoft before. That's no dig at all at people who go along to such things, I also really want to play at disused theme parks, prisons, forts etc, way more appealing than yet another patch of flat woodland with some plastic sheet stapled to pallets. Just an issue with this type of game organisation that I can't really foresee being overcome. Tackle and Lozart

GiantKiwi
Never got to leave the safezone today - what I predicted months ago for the T8 'mws' hpa adapter happened, and the double stack jammed every single time (so me and a friend are now going to fashion a single stack collar for it) so that was the DE out of action. WE M4 was having air problems yet again, but have now isolated that to the adaptor as well. Pistols didn't fair much better, feed lips snapped on one pistol, nozzle return spring broke on another. Was nice and sunny though 🤣 Colin Allen

I definitely had the wrong WE adapter version though, someone else with a WE XM177 was having hop issues but otherwise running flawlessly, but their (newer gen) airtac adapter was running on 120psi. Mine has to run on 180 to cycle. Edited April 20 by GiantKiwi ButcherBill
Impulse
I didn't get out of the safe zone today at Worthing Airsoft. The rifle that I let my friend borrow was... really dirty as it turns out. Took it on the range and my shots were going everywhere, so I had to take it apart, give the hop rubber and barrel a good clean and make sure the grub screws that held the barrel in were nice and tight as they were loose and the barrel was moving. Once I did all of that, got it properly set up and chrono'd, it was basically lunch time and I couldn't be bothered to get all my kit out to go and play for the afternoon, however it was shooting really nicely again once I did all that; though it was hard to properly zero because it was quite breezy today. Also, my newly upgraded, but very old Bell 1911 worked really well with the new upgrades, though with how cold it was this morning it struggled to get through a magazine with that tiny gas reservoir... Ulmocuk
I hate to play againts these paintball based players with their modifyed hpa pistols. Where I live sites are too small and full of these players. and I am there with my MWS setup 8 mags 10kg gear in total try to out run these players. Seems like they got unlimited ammo meanwhile I count every shot... Please can someone suggest me a good Mil-sim site around South buckinghamshire/Oxfordshire Edited April 20 by Ulmocuk EDcase

Badgerlicious
I had a good day at Worthing Airsoft yesterday. I was running the full ghillie again and a dmr under the new power limits, which are finally at 1.88j. My trusty old nuprol ak21 (externally at least) has decided it now hates my epm1 short mags and my other short mags, but runs the nuprol midcaps just fine. It was comfortably hopping .45s to 70, so I was having a nice day with it, at least after I managed to work out the issue with the mags. The morning was a bit damp, but the rain cleared up by the time games started, and the ground was dry so a pretty comfy day. Games were mostly domination. Pretty standard fun game type, can't really argue with it. We also had a variation on "escort the uncooperative marshall in a silly costume to various bases" with a big rabbit for the Easter theme. That's always a fun time, and probably one of the best modes Worthing does. It's just fun, which can be lost on some game types. We did have a new game mode, airstrike. Collecting items to call in an airstrike on a base, which is then unusable. Most airstrikes wins the game. Fun game type stolen from ai500, probably the one good thing to come out of that event 😂 So nice day, lots of sneaking, surprising rentals and regulars. Lots of counter-ghillie work. Though towards the end my pistol vented it's gas, so I dove to cover.... into a bunch of stinging nettles.... with fingerless gloves. That was a very unfun time, and I didn't even get a kill! Hatchet
I too was at Worthing yesterday, although whilst @Impulse was in the safe zone, I was off buggering around with his .308 Wolverine MTW to see if that took my fancy. It was bang on the money on .43's and using the C02 wraith stock, so no tank/line. Despite the length and the suppressor, it was actually reasonably light (apart from the scope, I feel NASA may want that back at some point). Weather was unexpectedly cold and drizzling first thing, but this wore off by game on and developed into actual sunshine in the afternoon. Fairly standard attack/defence games, but they work well enough. I found the MTW to be quiet and easy to send rounds at people but... not sure, a little soulless perhaps. On a general note I am not convinced that hordes of 450fps silent ghillie DMR users make for great gameplay (not that that was necessarily the case today) and I wonder at what point Rules might be required to address this. It's a personal bugbear, so unlikely to be resolved any time soon. I did find it a little too easy to send rounds repeatedly down range and suspect I would need a bigger budget for ammo if I played that more regularly (having done about half a bag of .43's by lunchtime). Still, it was nice to get the chance to find that out without having to drop a grand on kit. Lunchtime I swapped over to the NGRS MP5, which was good as ever. As mentioned the airstrike game went well, but I ran out of steam after that and headed back earlier for fear of getting irrationally grumpy (hard to believe I know). Thankfully a bank holiday Monday to finish putting kit away. I'm also a little behind in write ups having played both UCAP Vanquish (again) and Greenops over the last couple of weeks. Vanquish has had improvements despite the short amount of time it's been open, with external barriers having been set up and new tin added to the fencing so shooting/looking through is no longer possible. This time round I spent most of the day outside with only a few excursions through the building. Noteable highlights were standing behind the Polaris ATV whilst an increasingly irate opponent shot at me, convinced I was not taking my hints. Helpfully for him, the marshall pointed out that it has a windscreen, which I was behind as rounds slammed into that instead of me. Well, also partially into the occupants of the ATV, but it's not my fault they parked it there... The site was as always well run and tidy. Cafe was busy again, but at least I preordered. Considering another visit in the not too distant future. GreenOps was standard GreenOps, although a little quieter than usual but actually made for a decent day. Pretty standard, dust got in everything and I accidentally bought a shotgun whilst queueing for lunch. It happens. Baser Posted Friday at 09:01 Share Posted Friday at 09:01 Played the Invicta Black Site evening CQB for the first time. Very different to woodlands, fast, tactical and very close (as it should be for CQB). Used my upgraded Cyma MP5K which was perfect, 3 x mid cap mags and my battle belt, it was far to hot for a plate carrier. Plenty of very interesting looking kit taken into the game, lots of HPA, mostly very rapid and accurate pistols. Got shot more in this 4 hour session than I have in 5/6 woodlands full day events I've played, but also got more hits. Covered in bumps and bruises but had an amazing time. 5x 20/25 min games with a cool down in-between. I was unsure how the 300 round ammo limit (per game) would work out but with no full auto, the games being very short and all the walking back to re spawn I only used 100 to 200 rounds per game so pleased I chose the mid caps. It was dark when we started, around 7pm and was pitch black but the time we finished at 11pm. Great fun trying to understand watching the shadows and tactically using a gun mounted light. Lots of room clearing pyro and tracer BB's added to the experience. The safe zone is small and tight so it was really fun discussing the last round and how it played out then as soon as the game started it was full on no mercy, then back to mates agin. I've found woodlands is a bit more spread out so everyone splits off into their own groups so you don't get the same level of chat. The Marshalls said they only have another 4-6 weeks but other players said that's been the story for a while now. The surrounding area is a very flat and muddy building site now so they must be getting close to demolishing it.
Colin Allen
Today was an invitation game day at Airsoft Plantation; 42 trusted, honest and excellent players, including some of the marshals and the site owner, were on site for the day. Oh, and so was I! As I wanted to finish setting up the ICS Masada, I had even more rifles with me than usual, much to the amusement of one of the other players, who also expressed shock that I had something that looked rather like an M4. The first game involved us (the blue team) attacking the village from the hill fort; we had infinite buddy regens after falling back 30m, while the defenders had three lives. Our objective was to set off bombs in four structures in the correct order; these being the Cock Inn, the Town Hall, the Casino and the Border Bridge. Eschewing the direct approach, I elected to swing far to the left and attack the village from the far end, so that I could hopefully strike the defenders in the flank while they battled against my colleagues. This proved to be a good plan as I was able to surprise and take out a number of them; we fought our way into the village, destroying all of the objectives after some really intense firefights. After a quick break to mag up, the game was reversed. The enemy pressed hard; again, there were some great firefights and some great play, as might be expected on an invitation-only day. The highlight of this game for me was that I shot the site owner a couple of times. Yay! The next game required the enemy, who again had infinite 30m buddy regens, having to attack the Mortar Pits from the DEA Base, secure a stretcher from the top of the tunnels and then transport a player on it to the bridge on the other side of the Mortar Pits. The stretcher required four players to move it and, if the player on it was hit, they had to be replaced by another player; we had two lives. Starting off at the front of the Mortar Pits, I engaged a number of targets as the enemy tried to push towards the tunnels; we held them up for a considerable time, although I was eventually hit by a sniper who had moved into the hill fort. Falling back to near the berm which runs down the far side of the Mortar Pits, I became involved in fighting off the attackers who were trying to reach the stretcher. We held them up for a long time, before eventually being overrun as they pushed along the berm. Being hit again, I retired to the trailer at the back of the Mortar Pits to watch the fun, which included red team players attacking each other in the mistaken belief that they were the enemy. Eventually, they got an injured player to the bridge. Luncheon was then taken, after which the stretcher game was turned around. We decided to split the team in two, with one group attacking and taking the bridge, while the rest of us secured the stretcher and transported it there. Our group pushed quite rapidly into the Mortar Pits, overcoming a strong enemy defence before being held up by accurate fire from the top deck of the bus. We eventually overcame this and I was very impressed with one of my shots, which went through a small open window and hit the player behind it. There was then a push to get the stretcher to the bridge, which was completed after a couple of changes of stretcher bearers and passengers. After this game, I left as I wanted to get home to watch Liverpool win the Premiership; fortunately, they did so, which was worth giving up some airsoft time for. As should be expected from such a day, there was some great play and generally excellent hit taking, although there were a few comments about one player. It was hard fought but also great fun and was played in an excellent spirit.
