I was chatting to a regular sniper last time I went, that there was something I'd always missed from my collection. Today, he mentioned that he'd given it some thought and since he had two, he'd sell me one. I'm picking it up on Wednesday with a photo essay to follow but for now let's say it will make @Impulse a little jealous! I already have 4 (1x Tanaka and 2x KJW m700s, and a PPS Kar98k), but I'm still jealous of anything cool in that regard If it's a pre-ban Tanaka I'd be very jealous. If it's a pre-ban Tanaka m24, I'd be superdupermegajealous. Waiting on Raresoft to finish his website so I can request either a pre or post ban Tanaka m24 there (as he didn't respond to my Whatsapp message as I assume he's busy with this + Christmas), and maybe an AICS in the future Gas bolt actions are great and I want to see pictures! Madhouse
Had a good game at Z-Mart last night. It's been a while since I'd been and they've continued to improved things, which was probably part of the reason why it was the most people I've seen on a Thursday night - there were over 30 of us playing. Took the bro-in-law too, so to keep up the ruse that I don't have many pews, the MK18 was a 'loan' from a mate so he could use my 308 - shhh don't tell Mrs M 😉 Games were good fun and varied, you can easily lose 30-odd people in an old debenhams, so you could still move around if it's looking like you've reached a stalemate in a particular area. There were objectives but I don't think anyone was ever declared a winner, which is fine by me. They've done more with layout so some less useable areas are now more in play which is nice (that big open bit downstairs if you've been). Added bonus is they've dropped the price, so £15 for an evening shooting people is very reasonable indeed. As for the pews, the 308 was it's usual dependable self, I gave the BiL a hi-cap to save him having to worry about mags and it stopping on empty, the only issue he had was forgetting to wind it. The MK18 was great, it's actually the first time I'd used it in a game and it was all I'd hope it'd be. As I splashed out on a nice pew I got a vortex and olight to adorn it and they added nicely to the experience, I'd already dialled in the sight and found it easy to obtain a target and it definitely helped make the most of that TM magic and get me a few kills at range with a tight line of sight. The olight's like mounting the sun on the end of your pew, don't really need to say more than that. Sidearm was the FNX, it gets used more when using a GBBR as it's quicker than reloading in a firefight and it got at least one kill too. It's still my favourite pistol, if I had a ton of mags I'd happily just use that for a game.

Impulse
Ok, so today was both good and awful for me at the same time, so it was a weird one and I am conflicted. Went to Worthing for their Christmas game and the gameplay was great and it was all really good fun with people running around in silly dress up and the games worked really well and were very enjoyable. The awful part was my own kit and some struggles I had, but even that was a good thing because it was an experiment, so it was definitely a conflicted day for me. I decided to try the MTW again after sorting the suppressor foam and also trying it without a suppressor and it was still hopping inconsistently all over the place and I'm mega pissed off with it and I'm just sending it to super5ives to sort out because I've had enough. I tried removing the SI nozzle to put the stock one back in and it tore the o-ring; while I could replace it myself, I've spent months on this gun and I'm pissed off with it as I've never been able to use it at a game day. Still got all the original parts so depending on what they need to do with it, it might be covered under warranty (they told me as much when I explained the issues to them), but we'll see on that front. Fuck that gun. It's my most expensive gun and it's pissing me off royally. Going to get it reverted back to stock setup, then I will probably barrel and hop rubber it and that's it. No fancy hop units, no fancy nozzles, no nothing. Got a PDI 6.08 (where the hop window has been widened) that I'll throw in there and a 4uad bucking and nub that I'll put in the stock MTW hop unit. I tech all my non-AEG guns and this is the first one where I can put my hands up and say "I made it worse" and I'll own that, but it doesn't mean I'm not pissed off with it for being the one gun that decided to buck the trend of all my other guns that I've teched being phenomenal 🤬 Anyway, MTW rant aside, I also left my regulator at home, but fortunately I borrowed my friend's so I could try using my lovely m700 with the HPA tapped mags. In short, it wasn't worth it. It was a massive faff all day trying to reload, I hated the line and got it kinked and caught a few times, and I couldn't get too close to the ground because the magazine and line poking out the bottom were too tall. It shot beautifully for the most part, but the general manipulation of it around those tapped mags was awful. Going to put the fill valves back in (I only tapped 2 mags out of my 6, but will revert them this week) and wait until it warms up a bit and just run it on propane again; it's better like that anyway, I just wanted to try using it in the winter and it was not worth it. Also I had an "I wish I had a GBB pistol" moment today while using my mk23 because none of my team were pushing on a flank and we were getting constantly shot in the side, but I was holding the area where they were going to come out and as soon as they did I lit one up with the mk23, but there was a bit of "nah you didn't hit me" after I put an entire mag into him and watched at least 6 of the BBs bounce off his black hoodie that just made him scoot behind the cover a bit more after each one. Frustrated by this, I then pushed up to try and get him and got a lovely burst of full auto at about 10m at about 20rps, so next game day it's back to the hi-capa because I think I would've hit him even more with that and maybe he would've taken it, and if not it's far easier to push players with a GBB than a squishy-squooshy mk23 trigger. I think this is how I'll rotate them; if I have a moment with the hi-capa where I wish I had the mk23, the next game day I will use the mk23 until I have a moment where I wished I had the hi-capa, then I'll swap back to the hi-capa. So next game day will be a hi-capa game day for sure. As for the games today, they were pretty good. They were all festive-themed, with the morning having one guy dressed up as a present (he had a cardboard box around him) and both teams were fighting over him and had to take him to different bases to win. I think the games flowed well, were good festive fun and we were blessed with the weather as there was very little wind and no rain, though it was overcast all day. There was definitely some questionable hit taking from a few individuals, but we're talking maybe... 3 or 4 people that I came across all day. Again the marshalls were largely on it, so that's always nice! In the morning, I had one guy not taking his hits while I was sniping him in the open, then a marshall came and stood behind me to watch my shots and magically the next shot I sent that way sent the player to respawn, and the one after that sent his friend back too. Funny that once a marshall in bright orange was watching, the players sheepishly put their hands up and went back to respawn 😂 So in short, games were great, weather was great, MTW I want to throw against a tree, and I learned that I hated HPA tapped m700 mags. Next game day is one of the special ones, so I'm really looking forward to that one. Will bring my co2 VSR to that because I know that works well and I don't want to spend that game day faffing in the safe zone! Got a couple of electric snipers too, but I view them in the same category as dmr's, would seem unfair to run them at snipers limits, be too easy ? 50 minutes ago, ButcherBill said: Might be worth taking 1 aeg as a plan B or C I really don't get to play often but I always go armed to the hilt, usually take 2 GBBR's & a couple of AEG's, Iwant to use my GGBR's more but for various reasons I always end up using an AEG as a plan B. Most definitely, when noobs start talking about "upgrading" their one & only rif, I'm like "spend the money you'll waste getting a few more fps on a second rifle for backup". Too many times I've been on site only to see players packing up early cos their only gun has died, I'll always offer a loaner if they don't look like a headcase🤡 TheFull9, ButcherBill and Impulse 1
ButcherBill
Think I've only managed 4 games in 2024, I really should try harder in 2025. If I didn't get as much pleasure from having & being surrounded by my pews it would be a 'total' waste.
Popular Post Colin Allen
Today was Airsoft Plantation's Christmas shoot; Just over 200 players turned up, some dressed in Christmas themed fancy dress (unlike the rest of us who were mostly in Army Man fancy dress). Having prepared everything I needed for the day, I went out to set up the second hand Double Bell P90 that I bought recently. The stock hop unit struggled to deal with any of the aftermarket hop rubbers that I tried to fit in it, only working with the very thin stock one; a Prowin hop unit that fortuitously arrived on Friday solved that problem. The gun ran beautifully, pushing BBs out to 60m at 1.05J, with the Perun P90 mosfet making it a joy to shoot, in contrast to its previous spongy self. The first game involved our team starting in the village, with the aim being to clear the enemy out of the mortar pits and grab the Christmas presents that five of their players were holding; these contained gifts that would belong to whoever was holding one at the end of the game. We had infinite regens on a 30m fallback to a teammate, while the defenders had two lives. A group of us decided to take the long route, jogging around through Swaziland at the far end of the site to approach the mortar pits via the comms truck area. We met stiff resistance there, but eventually broke it down, sweeping along the berm that protects that side of the pits and taking out the remaining enemy in that area. At the far end, we encountered some of our teammates who had taken a different route; both groups were surprised to see each other and there were a few blue on blue hits before we realised that we were on the same side. The game then ended. After a pleasingly short break to mag up, which I did in glorious isolation while sitting in the mortar pits, we swapped roles. I took up a position behind a short berm from where I could cover one of the approaches to the comms truck and one of the routes from it into the mortar pits if the enemy took it. The L1A1 scored a lot of hits at range before I was hit after the comms truck was captured; I fell back to another berm, where I spent rather less time before being hit again. The other team completed their mission just over three minutes more rapidly than we did. After another short break to mag up, we went out to the village for a variation on that staple of airsoft sites, infection. Both teams started in the village, except for those foolish souls who were in proper fancy dress. Starting at the Border, they had to attack us; when we were hit, we had to go to the Border and have our photo taken through an inflatable picture frame before returning to the fray. I took up a position on the left hand side of the village, where the fighting was quite fierce; a group of us worked well as a team, but were gradually depleted as attackers' numbers grew. Eventually, I was hit and went to have my picture taken by the site owner. I returned to attack the area that I had been defending; defender numbers had decreased significantly by then, so it didn't take us long to clear the village. It was then lunch time; the catering van provided Christmas dinnner for those who wanted it, serving the vast majority of the 200 plus players and marshals. After lunch there was the draw for the raffle prizes; these varied in value from around £50 up to a brand new TM Saiga-12 SBS GBB; the chap who won that was a very happy chappie! Having got that out of the way, we went back out to play another game; as usual, I changed guns at lunchtime, putting the L1A1 away and taking out the Real Sword QBZ-97. The next game centred around Mr and Mrs Santa, who were sitting in the bus at the mortar pits. We had to grab Mr Santa and get him into the plane at the DEA Base, while the enemy had to grab Mrs Santa and get her to the town hall in the village; the teams started at the location where the enemy had to deliver their Santa and we all had 30m regens on a teammate. At the start of the game around 95% of our team went off to grab Mr Santa, leaving just five of us to guard the village; we soon started coming under pressure, with small groups of the enemy pushing on the village. Fortunately, their attacks were not coordinated, so we held them off. Our numbers started to grow as a few of our teammates drifted into the village to regen; at the same time, the enemy's attacks intensified. One of our players told me that, before being hit, he had seen some enemy players in the woods behind the village. I set off to look for them; moving into the woods, I heard voices, so hid in a friendly bush. Four enemy players appeared; I let them walk past me before shooting them all in the back. As no more appeared, I moved back into the village, joining in holding off enemy attacks until the shout of "Game over"; the rest of our team had got Santa into his plane, which was probably an upgrade from a sleigh pulled by magical flying reindeer! We finished the day with the ambush game; we had to walk along the main path in the village in column of twos and were not allowed to shoot or leave the path until the enemy, who were allowed to deploy anywhere within 30m of the path, opened fire. Our aim was to get one player into the building at the far end of the path within the time limit. Our regen was at our start point, while the enemy had two lives. Fortunately, an enemy player opened fire early, so those of us further back in the column were able to dive into the woods and undergrowth and start outflanking them. I am not sure what happened to the left of the path but, on the right, we had a hard fight along narrow paths until the enemy defence began to crumble. A player set off at a run for the target building, but the game ended a few seconds before he reached it. Thus ended an excellent day of airsoft; the site is big enough to absorb around 200 players without feeling crowded and the standards of play and of hit taking in the well designed games were high, with the games being played in a good spirit. Barry Sayer
Sunday Christmas shoot at M.O.A. (Milatary outdoor adventure).... I took more hits than a radio 1 DJ 🙄 plenty of kills too ! A good day with about 15 in the game. Objectives throughout the day was to protect santa and rudolf on opposing teams, take several compounds, falling back to various bases on a 'hit, medic, hit then out' rule. Loads of pyro and action 🎬 Colin Allen
Jaylordofwaargh Posted yesterday at 10:09 Share Posted yesterday at 10:09 I spent my Sunday shooting at Red Alert for their SantaSoft. Took the kid as well, who got given a tiny smock from his uncle, so he was toasty all day, stack up provided the balaclava, so he looked mini para. The games! First was a variation on swarm/zombie: shoot someone-medic them and they are now on your team. This led to many roving groups, getting into lots of fire fights, and some where you just find yourself in a larger group and become the steamroller. It was amusing getting to the town, as it turns out, Yorkshire Puddings split at some point and rolled up the whole site from two different angles. Good warm up. The kid used his Firehawk, and loves it, need to load him up with three hi-caps next time.... I used, well tried to us the TM mc51....I am now having selector and trigger issues, oh and the fps is still really low, so a new shell and lots of internals from santa in the new year! Instead I used my sig226, and wow, gas is shit in winter! Safe zone for quickish mag up and the mc51 works when testing, so I go back out with it for Santa Slaighs...Santas start near the fort, have to clear town and collect presents the Slaigh then gets escorted up the hill, again lots of fun. The lad managed to get a great angle into town and essentially held the whole flank for a long time. Should have grabbed a spare whilst I0 had the chance! In the end I did go back half way through that game and switch for my brothers VSR, first time with a long gun that works well and oh my, what fun. so used that for most of the rest of the day. Enid_Puceflange Posted yesterday at 10:38 Share Posted yesterday at 10:38 Spent a successful (hopefully) 3 hours, stripping my ngrs down for the first time, to clean and lube internals and fit an Eagle6 m100 spring. Followed the most in depth tutorial, made like YEAAARS ago by Eagle6 Such a breeze to work on compared to the last aeg I took apart which was an ICS. But for sure, some of the tips in the video, made the job so much easier than if I had just jumped in without watching 👌 Wayfaring Stranger
