Once again Americans/HPA users/Geardo's ruin it for the rest of us
clumpyedge replied to rj1986's topic in General Discussion
My apologies you are correct the first video is in fact people from the UK. But, and this isn't a dick swinging competition, having done karate for a number of years there was never once a strike first attitude. In fact the complete opposite. Striking another person was taught as the last resort if all other avenues had failed. There is definitely a difference between attitudes towards fighting/defense in the US and the UK as well as other countries around the world. The UK has had some very high profile cases where a single punch from someone claiming a preemptive strike for self preservation as self defense has killed someone. What I was trying to articulate rightly or wrongly is that a preemptive strike isn't always the best course of action. -

So you've posted some videos from the US on youtube... none of which show the true ethos of the vast majority of original martial art forms, these videos have taken the offensive parts of martial arts to convince people that being the aggressor in any situation is the right way to go. -

This is actually so far from what is taught in the vast majority, if not all of martial arts its untrue unless of course you are referring to the likes of MMA which is more a hash up of offensive techniques taught in various martial arts. Likewise in security or personal safety the first things you are taught is de-escalation techniques or to remove yourself from the situation only. What you are describing is probably the reason for the majority of "self defense" killings in the United States. -
I used to Marshal, decided to sack it off. Spend enough of my time during a working week dealing with idiots and spent even more time doing it every other Sunday. Sucked the fun right out of playing and since Covid I think I've played twice in a year and a half. Do I miss it... to an extent yes, do I miss working as a marshal...absolutely not.

The Billet (Ambush Adventures run by Charlie James - nice little CQB site made up of joined up barracks (hence the name the billet) and was superbly run, even with Charlies safety briefs) The Depot (Ambush Adventures run by Charlie James - was just an amazing site and had plenty of space so people didn't bunch up on stairwells) The Sandpit (UCAP, was the best site down south non-MOD Stirling did a few games there with ribs for insertions across the lake)

If you have the paper to put down just go with Clawgear or UFPro IMO.

Either Nikwax or melt Fjallraven wax into it, will need to reapply if you wash it and also note that using the wax will diminish the materials breathability. from experience and not google -

Where did you get your parts from mate? -
"but no one should mix in a group of greater than 6" How can you guarantee that people wont huddle in CQB hearding airsofters out of a safe zone is bad enough let alone trying to get people to push a stairwell.
-
So a CQB site has both out door and indoor area's so the indoor bit will no longer be allowed.. technically.
