With how desperate I am for one I am actually quite tempted...
Tbf, there are a few sites that still have some in for less.
£500 is just cheeky for 2nd hand.

How bad is 'all over the shop'?
At what range?
Using what ammo?
-
First of all; big necropost. 😅
Secondly; UK law doesn't recognise DMRs or anything like that regarding Airsoft.
You have the legal limit for single action and semi automatic at 2.5J iirc, but for safety's sake, sites will obviously set it at a lower level, which for DMRs is generally anything from 1.48 to 1.88J (Approx 400 to 450fps when measured on a 0.20), or 2.3J for single action rifles, but that's for safety & insurance.

From what I've heard, the CO2 adapter for the SVDs puts out shots that are way too overpowered for skirmishing.
Something like 600+FPS.
-
The scout is great, had it for a few months but only managed to game with it a couple of times so far.
Out of the box it's very good, but there's a few small & easy things to do to make it better without spending loads.
I've put heat shrink on the spring guide to remove some noise on firing, and installed a modify h nub to let it lift heavier ammo easier. (I use 0.45s)
Other than that it's good to go as is.
Bolt pull is light & smooth at full power too.
-
What exactly happened? What bits and how?
-
Took out my SVD yesterday for a test, and unfortunately it just wasn't running very well, even on 0.36s.
It was windy, which didn't help, but even without that it just didn't seem to have much range or accuracy; I was struggling to make shots at even 50m.
Going to have to go back to the drawing board and find a new bucking to use (and maybe barrel).
Unfortunately, I only get chance to test it once I get to a site, so it's a long & slow process. 😩

I used to get some blaster 0.36s from s nearby retailer. They did bottles of 3000 for a very reasonable £23, but stopped not too long ago unfortunately.
Finding a sweet spot is a bit of a ballache.
I've got a Cyma SVD and from trial & error I've found the following:
If I use anything more than 0.36s I find the hop needed to lift them drops my power down significantly.
Anything less than 0.36 and the power is too high for my regular site (425fps on a 0.20 9r 1.68fps).
Struggled to find a bucking that works decently too, the only one that's really worked okay so far is the old style maple leaf autobot in 60º.
*Edit: the large bags of BLS ammo from skirmshop seems to be a decent price.
Used the 0.45s in my bolt actions without any problems, and had good results.
Visually they've been pretty much identical to Geoff's 0.45s

I only want my night vision to have fun with at home, I won’t be taking them to games and so on, only to have fun with at home and walk in the dark in my house lol
I see, what do you think is a more realistic price range?
For what you've said?
Honestly zero. I don't see the point in spending money solely for something like that you'll be using at home.
The Money could go towards something useful like guns, accessories or clothing and get 100x the value.
-
Any night vision for £200 or less isn't really going to be worth having imo.
-
What ammo do you use?
That'd be a better starting point than changing anything internally.
Use good quality, mid-weight ammo like 0.28 - 0.32 (if you're not already), where suitable before changing anything.

Look for a video on YouTube covering it.
As I covered in your other thread, you'll unfortunately still need to do about 80-90% of a full strip down to be able to access the spring alone.
-
It's doable but fiddly.
You'll need to remove the stock, magwell, motor and most of the front.
You can lift up the gearbox *just* enough to be able to remove the spring &spring guide.
It's still about 80% of a full stripdown though.
Battery I'll get you in a bit at lunch.
*Edit:
These are the batteries I used to use for my shorty, but I gave up and just used a PEQ box for ease of use in the end.

I'd recommend one of the Odin or clone type loaders, and then head on over to
And see if they make an adapter to suit your needs.
I picked up one for my G&G SMC9 mags which I wasn't expecting to be a thing!
I had one of the electric types about 20 years ago, and they're not great tbh from what I remember, the feed nozzle was weak and broke easily.
-
I managed to find one for mine that was a little lower than the normal AK type.
Unfortunately I can't remember where I got it from or what it was.
I have a feeling it was from skirmshop, but looking on there they don't seem to have it anymore.
It looks to be this type, but where you can get one from I don't know, I'm afraid.

Ammo is the first thing to look at.
7 hours ago, RostokMcSpoons said:Now it could be I'm just being unlucky with some of the cheapo BBs I'm using up. Gold Fire and Bulldog 0.20g at the moment. The TM has a tight bore barrel, and when I first used it a gazillion years ago it clogged up a couple of times until I switched from the cheap stuff back to TM BB's.
I think you've identified the problem yourself.
Only use decent ammo, it's too expensive to use cheap ammo.

It stands for 'Top Dead Centre'
I.e. rather than the usual hop lever moving forwards and backwards to adjust the hop, you mod the rifle so that you press the hop down directly from above.
It helps with consistency and more.
When it comes to vsr clones, I'd go with the cyma 701.
It's a little better quality than the well, and standard 428mm length barrel rather than the Well's 500-something.
But personally, I'd go for an action army T11.
Same design, vsr compatible, but better build quality still, a more modern, funkier look, and comes with a 90 degree trigger as standard, so it'll be more durable when you put a higher powered spring in.
Plus, it's only a bit more expensive than a clone VSR, at around £160 or so (at last check).
Couple of mine below for reference.

Try outdoor & tactical.
Admittedly, they're not the most easy model to get parts for nowadays, as they were never as popular as the VSR or the Maruzen style L96s.
Imo, I would leave it and go for something else.
A cheap VSR clone will be cheaper and easier to upgrade & source parts for.
Is this a V3 gearbox

Just takes your standard parts. @ak2m4 has a good selection.
