    VCRA Section 38 does state ‘real firearm’, but does not exclude unreal / sci fi firearms etc.  With 38.7a covering an actual real firearm, but 38.7b the ‘appearance of a category of firearms’

    If someone sees it and thinks it is real then it meets the VCRA definition of a RIF unless it gets covered as an IF by the design age, colour or size

    (Star Wars wasn’t the best example as their blasters are real firearms with extra things - Sterling SMG, Mauser, MG34 etc, but others could be those from Aliens etc which are ‘unique’ sci fi guns but still tend to have a basis on real designs … the pulse rifle being part Spas shotgun in a shroud)

    The underlying solution is of course to bag them in public and never find out what the law thinks it is

    Meaning of “realistic imitation firearm”

    38

    (1)In sections 36 and 37 “realistic imitation firearm” means an imitation firearm which—

    (a)has an appearance that is so realistic as to make it indistinguishable, for all practical purposes, from a real firearm; and

    (b)is neither a de-activated firearm nor itself an antique.

    (2)For the purposes of this section, an imitation firearm is not (except by virtue of subsection (3)(b)) to be regarded as distinguishable from a real firearm for any practical purpose if it could be so distinguished only—

    (a)by an expert;

    (b)on a close examination; or

    (c)as a result of an attempt to load or to fire it.

    (3)In determining for the purposes of this section whether an imitation firearm is distinguishable from a real firearm—

    (a)the matters that must be taken into account include any differences between the size, shape and principal colour of the imitation firearm and the size, shape and colour in which the real firearm is manufactured; and

    (b)the imitation is to be regarded as distinguishable if its size, shape or principal colour is unrealistic for a real firearm.

    38.7

    In this section—

    • colour” is to be construed in accordance with subsection (9);

    • de-activated firearm” means an imitation firearm that consists in something which—

      (a)

      was a firearm; but

      (b)

      has been so rendered incapable of discharging a shot, bullet or other missile as no longer to be a firearm;

    • real firearm” means—

      (a)

      a firearm of an actual make or model of modern firearm (whether existing or discontinued); or

      (b)

      something falling within a description which could be used for identifying, by reference to their appearance, the firearms falling within a category of actual modern firearms which, even though they include firearms of different makes or models (whether existing or discontinued) or both, all have the same or a similar appearance.

    TBF, the pulse rifle is just a Thompson in a body kit.

  2. If you're wanting to keep it under 350/1.13J, would a better question not simply be "How do I get the most accuracy and consistency out of my gun"?

    You can use any normal AEG, just make it perform well, and then never use full automatic.

    Then it'll be usable in your non-DMR DMR role, but simply have it depend on your ability & skills, as getting rid of semi won't give you any material advantage if you're keeping it at standard AEG levels.

  3. What barrel and model ML bucking are you using?

    Check that your hop window is suitable for the bucking, as some can be too small to work properly, and post up a photo if you can.

  4. I've had mine for several months now, and I'm really loving it.

    I've had a few minor niggles, that through trial & error I've managed to sort.

    My thoughts (and based solely on my experience):

    First of all, in its stock set-up, and using 0.45s it will shoot straight up to around about 65m, but lack the lift for anything more, despite what I've seen online.

    It shoots very well up to that point though.

    I bought some of the modify H nubs to improve it, and they definitely helped with lift.

    However, one problem I noticed is that it would shoot lovely in the morning, but once lunch hit and warmer temperatures my accuracy would take a nosedive.

    I tried out a few different set-ups with varying performance before eventually settling on the original style bucking but in 70º (The standard is 60º I believe), paired with the blue modify nub.

    Maximum confirmed hit I've had with it so far has been 92 yards, due to summer overgrowth at the site I've been using it at, getting a clear line of sight has been a problem, so further may well be possible.

    This has seemed to have sorted it, and I've run it all day for a few games without issue now. (Fingers crossed ?)

    Barring those initial issues, it's been absolutely wonderful, and probably to be expected, much as you would if you were building or upgrading your own, so not big deal I guess?

    It's got a fairly hefty initial price tag, but compared to what I've probably spent upgrading my VSR/T10/T11s etc. I'd say it's come out much cheaper at the end.

    A new bucking and nub and it's shooting at least as well as my other, older rifles.

    The only other thing I would consider doing to it is finding a new piston to make it as quiet as possible, once such things are available, but that's purely preference and not essential.

  5. Have a look at the Action Army T11 too, if you're intetested in sniping.

    It's a VSR base, so upgrades are plentiful, but with a fresh modernised look.

    It also comes with a 90º trigger as standard, so you'll save a lot of money when you come to upgrade.

    It comes in low powered as standard, but a new spring & piston will help with that.

    The A&K uses a different gearbox, nozzle and hop unit to the G&G. Are you unable to source G&G mags?

    Are they not designed to work with the same mags, just in a different way?

    The g&g has a normal V2 gearbox and an elongated hop unit & nozzle, whereas the A&K is a longer V2.5 gearbox with a standard M4 style hop unit.

    This should place the magazine feed in approximately the same location.

    I remember trying this with my old A&K, and a G&G hop unit and from what I remember it seemed to line up.

    Admittedly, It *has* been about 12 years since I did it, so I might be remembering it incorrectly!
