  1. So how 'semi-gloss' is their paint - is it a satin effect in reality? I take it from all the recommendations that it's perfectly acceptable! The ebay shop recommended the Mtn94 as true matte, but I did like the sound of the Molotow's for their graffiti nozzles - I could actually paint some narrow stripes with those... is that right?
  2. Nice gun, but I think when I finally get around to buying an MP5, it'll have to have the standard front handguard.
  3. Glad to hear that Molotow is good, as apart from the 'semi-gloss' issue (i think the ebay listing saying 'matte' is wrong, unless semi-gloss is much more matte than gloss), the price is right (c'mon down) on those. I'm considering 9 different colours (white, ruby red, black forest green, leaf green middle, camouflage (olive green), khaki, sahara beige, black grey dark, choc brown) I could pick up black and white from Halfords to get it down to 6 from ebay. The B&Q ones are a fair bit pricier at ~£12 per tin, which will add up to a chunk of change for 8 or 9 cans, so maybe just that textured brown one, as it does sound interesting - I'd be very happy to get a battle-worn look. As usual I may be overthinking this, but I do want to get get away from standard dark DPM and get a little more adventurous. Here are the main camo patterns in Battlefield 4, most of which are going to hard for a novice gun painter to achieve, so consider it a 'mood board'. 'Havoc' is the one I've usually used on my gun in-game, I was thinking of tearing (maybe shooting!) some holes in aluminium foil as that makes for some nice jagged template holes, but it'd be hard to get sharply defined edges across the whole gun So I'll probably end up with a bolder version of the 'Spray Autumn' pattern with some white and dark red to add some extra interest. Edit2: Got a reply back from the ebay shop, they suggest these which are matte, and similar pricing - pick any 6 for £30, free postage: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/372974623437
  4. That's handy, they're very well priced... 6x400ml of any colour for only £28 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/372942525831 The only thing is most shops are selling the as semi-gloss while that ebay page says they're matt. I'll have to ping them a message to confirm. They're graffiti paints, so can work outdoors at -10C, which is handy at this time of year
  5. That covers the white and grey, just maroon/claret needed ? This is a bit pricier, so why I'd ignored it in my initial search, but if I just need the one colour this looks ok ...? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kings-Army-Spray-Paint-Military-Vehicle-Paint-paintball-airsoft-model-paint-/121774359100?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0
  6. I'm looking to create some camouflage on my guns.. I've already seen the Halfords Vs Krylon thread, in so I've seen the Halfords camouflage paints get all round thumbs up for being good for this But they only have the DPM style colours, I want to mix in some white (or maybe light grey) and maroon. I've looked on eBay etc but not sure what other manufacturers would match the same look as the Halfords ones.... Any recommendations?
  7. Yeah sorry I took this "We currently believe that this rifle uses a VSR Barrel setup and hop-unit" And brought "VSR compatible" to the thread. My mistake.
  8. There's the RWA version isn't there? But the bolt action on that didn't look very smooth / easy. I might not find that entirely satisfies
  9. Ooooh some sex-wee has escaped ? Have they got any plans for a no4 though? I have an absolute 'thing' for cycling the Lee Enfield bolt action, it does that 'ASMR' thing for me, but I've fired the no4 a lot, never the SMLE. So it's a nostalgia angle for me. And WW2 just appeals much more than WW1. Yeah that would be an awful thing to do to such a beautifully presented gun. Luckily the £450 price tag should make it a non-runner for the less serious player. ---- Watching him shooting it (towards the end of the video... struggling to reach 40m target let alone hit it, does suggest this is tending towards the wall-hanger end of the spectrum, until it's been upgraded. Still if it is VSR10 compatible, there's some hope it'd become vaguely usable. Hmmm perhaps skirmishing isn't really the point of this. I'd just wear out the action cycling the bolt all the time and be happy with that
  10. RostokMcSpoons is more than interested, he's bloody well buying one ?
  11. I just dug around in my parts box, assuming I've got the correct old spring (it is in a box with a post-it saying 'DE orig spring', I try to keep track) then mine measures 200mm. Obligatory pic: And it's a linear spring too. Same results I had, going from < 300fps (no hop) to 345fps Apart from that, it's still a lovely gun, my best purchase so far
  12. Sorry, I don't have anything useful to contribute, my upgraded TM gun is now less good than it was originally. And that's sort of the point of my pic. As soon as you change the spring (the obvious upgrade for MOAR POWERRRRR) the more you stress everything else, maybe spoil the smoothness of the bolt action etc. And the famed TM accuracy can go out the window. But I can understand that you'd want to get up from < 300fps to the site limit. I'll leave you in the hands of the people who've successfully upgraded their guns Do consider one alternative approach: As your gun is probably under the site limit for AEGs you won't need to worry about the 'Minimum Engagement Distance' which can be as much as 30m. So you could concentrate on buying camouflage, and using SKILLZ to get close enough to engage the enemy... a decent ghillie cape or suit might be a better investment than chasing an extra few metres of range with a never-ending cycle of upgrades. Cheaper too (and surely more exciting)!
  13. Well I said I didn't need the Tri rail look, but I just found this at Ant-Supplies... https://www.ant-supplies.uk/rifle-bipod-fittings/tri-rail-spigot-adapter.html I'm not sure if the spigot makes it easier or harder to mount into the handguard, but it sure looks the same as the game... Edit: found another of my pics from the game... yeah it's a little different, and I can see the game's version would be a simpler fit (just in terms of square sections where they intersect through the handguard versus the more complex outlines of the spigot version). It's not going to be super-easy, might go back to a simple piece of rail and some relief cuts for the grip itself. Grip on order, won't turn up for another week though. Edit: For completeness, here's the finished work: a simple piece of rail fixed into the handguard, with the stubby grip attached.
  14. Yeah, on my shiny new Specna BBs. Oh dear. So I tested my other guns... In the words of Professor Denzil Dexter, "Results were disappointing" Well, mixed. F2000 = champ DE M906 = champ CA M16 = chump AK47 = chump The m16 went into full double-feed mode several times and i guess I've been lucky that the unjamming rod worked each time. I've found some split bits of BB where presumably the nozzle has chopped them in half. I'm still getting the thing where sometimes I bang the mag in and I hear it unwind. So I suspect the gun as much as the BBs I've managed to shoot a hole in the bottom of my bin too... me = chump I'll buy a bag of Geoff's to see whether the guns or the BBs are to blame.
  15. Ok, so part, or indeed all of the problem may have been... I'm an idiot. I had the metal block that engages with the magazine's front lip in upside down, thus allowing a lot of extra movement that would have screwed with the feeding. Now I've got the other common problem - the gun isn't feeding enough. Semi-auto is fine, full auto is ok for the first shot or two, then it's only intermittently firing BBs. I'll strip down the gun again and check the shimming to see if anything is binding inside (as per your previous comment on the 'AK not firing with all batteries' thread)
  16. Yeah that's a fair point. I guess we'll see what this kit is like... I do already own one of the little sidemounts that goes over the top of the rear sight. It's only held in place by a single screw and the top edge of the lower part of the handguard. It also might look quite clunky as it has a long-ish section of rail which will overhang the new section of rail, or the top cover. I haven't used it in the past because I only had the Kobra sight, which is a hefty beast. It made the gun feel a little too top heavy. The cheapo Amazon sight is much lighter and more compact so... Ah sod it, I put the gun back together (sort-of) and tried it... It's just too high up there for my taste. The folding stock gives a naturally low position relative to the gun, so it doesn't really work for quickly acquiring a good sight picture. Even with face pro in the way. The rail I could chop shorter and repaint, but I might as well leave it alone (or sell it, or use it in my F2000 build)
  17. I've got 18,000 Specna Core Bio BB's to get through before I can go back to Geoff's
  18. I'll have you know I don't go around throwing my hard(ly)-earned £25 willy-nilly and just on a whim! (I leave that to the wife ?)
  19. Assuming you want to stick with Tamiya, you could go with this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5x-Pair-Mini-Tamiya-Battery-Connector-Heatshrink-Car-Airsoft-Car-Plane-RC-UK-/191369924879 Or you could do a 'proper job' and convert the gun and battery to Deans connectors https://www.amazon.co.uk/T-Plug-Connectors-Female-Shrink-Battery/dp/B087TWVQKT/ref=asc_df_B087TWVQKT/
  20. I'm thinking of buying this Now I don't suppose anyone here has bought one of these specific kits, but I know a few of you have Cyma AK's, and so I'd like to know how good this is likely to be? My existing fake wood stuff on my plastic-bodied AK creaks like a mo-fo, so this is primarily about quietening that and making the gun feel more solid. Next, the top and bottom RIS rails will allow me to run with a stubby grip and my new Amazon-special red dot. Which will be nice. And lastly, it's a cosmetic change from what I'm used to on the AK. I do like the looks of the standard gun, so a wood kit (if I can find one at a sensible price) remains an option. Any opinions on Cyma's polymer build quality?
  21. I did end up taking it... just two BBs in there, and I could already move them around against the nozzle, they just refused to drop down the feed tube. I even fashioned a spring hook from a bit of dowel with some bent guitar string attached to the end, but I couldn't coax them out of there. (If someone can manufacture a BB-puller for this situation, they could surely earn a few quid, certainly I'd be first in the queue) Anyway, AK now in bits, barrel given a quick clean with bit of cotton. I've mentally noted not to use cheapo BBs in that gun every again, and it's all ready for my next (cosmetic) purchase to arrive... if I go ahead with it that is. New thread *** incoming ***
  22. Thanks, with that you gave me the confidence to use a screwdriver to lever it gently away from the rest of the body. The front lugs were sticky, but there aren't any latches or anything, just a slight excess of friction. Here's what I'm trying to achieve... ... but I'm really not attempting to get a copy of that, so no need for the tri-rail look, it's just getting a stubby grip fitted solidly to the front. In fact that's quite a low fitting, I'd rather have it nearer to the barrel axis, so it could go further forward to help with that. (Not sure if the drawing of the grip, which I borrowed from an MP5K plan, is properly to scale) There's a cheap stubby on Amazon that I'm willing to hack to bits, if necessary https://www.amazon.co.uk/Element-Style-Stubby-Airsoft-Paintball/dp/B01N9LSV12/ref=sr_1_28 Here's what I'm working with inside the foregrip... I can grab a cheap 12cm length of RIS rail from my local retailer (Action Hobbies), and then it becomes a matter of dremelling a slot to hold the RIS with the grip in place, stabilising it the inside (maybe just need some woodwork screwed in place to the guard + body?) Is this all a silly thing to attempt, or have I "got a shot at the title"?
  23. Can I ask what video editing software you used to put that together?
