They said it couldn't be done.... ('They' being the voices in my head) After a lot of prep work looking at the inside and outside of the handguard, and looking at various bits of RIS rail on sale (before settling on one of the simplest ones), I've finally managed to bodge engineer my stubby grip onto my F2000, as per my Battlefield 4 in-game loadout. (I couldn't find a tri-rail that I thought would look the same and that I could actually fit, so had to go for a single rail... but I still wanted the 'hanging off the front of the gun' look) I'm sort of blowing my own trumpet, perhaps a small one, such as the type often found in Christmas crackers... but it really isn't bodged, it feels absolutely damn solid. In fact it was so solid that after all the work I did carving out plastic and getting everything 'just so', it actually felt good-to-go without any of the screws and bolts and washers and plates I expected to put in. I put most of them in anyway and now I can pick up the gun by the front grip without any undue concern. I wouldn't want to fall on it, or do anything too drastic, but... very pleased with it. Inside the handguard are a couple of chunks of wood which help locate the RIS against some of the internal ribs which I cut / Dremel appropriately. They're screwed into the handguard. There's a bolt through the rail and the one of the chunks through to the top of the handguard. I actually just used a craft knife to remove most of the plastic, my cheapo Dremel looky-likey just didn't cut it. Ha ha. Ho ho... I'm here all week.

Oops! I meant whatever the cheap crap is that shatters easily... plexiglass... is that what I meant?

Actually I think SteavoBeavo's setup looks particularly good. As I said, my choice is down to replicating the look of my Battlefield 4 gaming setup... I've got very nearly 50,000 in-game kills with the F2000 now, it's my favourite gun in the game. L85A2 comes in second, I'll have to get one of those eventually. The 'Coyote' sight is often the player's choice of red dot in BF4 just because it has such a thin surround to the lens that it blocks less of the peripheral view than any of the other sights, and therefore gives a small (but useful) advantage. My other fave in-game sight was the Kobra, but while the open T-reticle in the game looks nice, I found it doesn't encourage the same accuracy in aiming as a plain dot. I'm lucky I bought the Kobra back when I first started airsoft, they seem to be super-expensive now. Historical aside: I bought one of the early red dot sights, the SinglePoint, for my BSA Meteor when I was a kid. It was really designed for shotguns I think. There was no view through the tube, it was a massive red dot for the right eye, and you saw the target with your left. I could just about hit tin cans with it, but it was useless for an air rifle. Sent it back to the dealer. https://shootery.blogspot.com/2010/07/moldy-oldie-review-singlepoint-sight.html I've got polycarb discs wedged into the front of my old Tasco scope, and my Kobra. Polycarb is pretty much unbreakable as I understand it, unlike the Lexan type sheet that gets used on the sacrificial lens protectors on eBay.

I'd agree the design of option 2 is inherently more likely to break. I bought it entirely for the fact it's the Coyote sight in Battlefield 4 and I want to replicate the look of my in-game gun. You can reduce (hopefully remove) the chance of a shattered lens from a BB hit by adding one of these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/294313449017 Which I think integrates very nicely... Buy yeah, the big lens frame sticking out like that isn't going to take any heavy impact as well as the others. (I wish I'd straightened the QR lever, now this photo has appeared in multiple threads, it's triggering my OCD ;)) Edit: Whilst looking for option 3 on ebay, I did find option 2 at £15, posted from the UK. Just in case you're interested. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255274969603

TM Hi Capa 5.1 D.O.R. ... any opinions?

Just received it, and fired a few shots from the patio door .... oooooooh I like it! Snappy even on the Nuprol low-power gas I ordered. Lovely build quality but it does feel very different in the hand to my all-metal M9. (Different, not worse) Still got a good heft to it. Well worth the recommendations, thankyou I think if I became a very bold person, there does look like there's enough material to allow for a lanyard hole to be drilled through the base of the backstrap. I don't think I'll do it quite yet though! -

In the words of The Immortal Bard, "Woof, woof, meow, hot diggity" It's a cracker (Unlike my photography, it's not focussed very well on the actual gun, damnit) -
You know what they say.... "Big head. Big...." "Hat size"

Nope, you're in luck... https://www.airsoftdb.com/search/?q=aap-01&s=t&r=uk edit: ah, sorry, in luck for normal versions... 2 tone might be trickier. Anyway, have a poke around...
-
You know what I mean, for us spray'n'pray types I must be a gigachad, the full size OneTigris extends about 1/2-3/4" below my (second?) chin, but that's fine for me. I will recommend the smaller size to my mate who still plays without anything protecting his teeth (silly boy)

Of course the lead pellets are more dangerous than BB's (gotta have a good backstop) but the barrel is rifled so they're much more accurate, and I don't think the same laws apply to airguns, you might not need a two tone version? (Best to check up on that) Visit this YT channel for reviews of all sorts of air guns .. https://youtube.com/c/AAROnair

Yeah I should have said I've not skirmished mine yet, just tried it out on all my guns, with my face pro on. The rain thing I'd never thought about tbh. I've played a couple of times in light rain with my Kobra, and that wasn't affected, but then thats Russian real-steel for you, it's designed to survive nuclear war, and the consequent cockroach takeover of the world 🤣. The £25 'Amazon special' might not be quite so capable in bad conditions!
-
.... I've actually got the face mask Rogerborg showed, but feel Airsoft is different from real steel shooting - my cheek weld is just the lightest of contact. Let's face it, in a pinch we could shoot these things with no sights at all, and just walk the BB's on to the target. And there's no recoil to control.
-
There is another thread on this forum I've literally updated at the same time, about face pro and the exact same sight 🤣

Option 2 is the one I've just bought, it is quite compact (compared to my chunky Kobra) which can be a positive or a negative depending on your preference.… It's nicely made and has a set of clean sharp reticles.

You've actually used your bungee cord though, whereas my o-rings are destined to knock about waiting for a "maybe I can use an o-ring" moment which will probably never come (I did ask for them on purpose because those moments did occur in the past, when I didn't have any) -
Same thing with my F2000, with the same sight you've got...! So I bought this from Ant Supplies That's a 20mm lift at the lowest setting. 5 slot version, £12 inc p&p https://www.ant-supplies.uk/rails-and-adapters/adjustable-height-weaver-riser-rails.html As SeniorSpaz suggests, you could try a different mask, but I prefer a more upright head position, rather than trying to find a cheek weld. Higher head = better view around the sights / peripheral vision. Oh yeah, and I recommend one of these too... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/294313449017

I'm early in my tech'ing journey. First attempt was a bit of a disaster, but I've tried again. And after quite a few painful hours I've learned a lot. I might not be doing it right yet (time and a few thousand BBs will tell), but it's interesting and fun, and gives me something to obsess over that's cheaper than looking for and buying whole new guns I recommend you pick your least-used gun and give it a go!

I take your bit of cable, and raise you with... some O-rings! Ahem. Yeah well they came as a freebie from Ant Supplies... Here's my actual haul... A Bulldog MOLLE Mk4 tactical belt, with Karrimor SF Predator Under Armour Yoke. Still have holster and more mag pouches etc to fit... This replaces my Viper tac belt where the MOLLE section of the belt didn't get far enough around my expanded waistline Red dot lens protector (as seen earlier in this thread) RIS Riser rail (quick release, adjustable height) RIS rail (for my F2000 BF4 build) 2x Stubby grips New toy on the way tomorrow...! -

Well I pulled the trigger on it... Defconairsoft selling at £135 plus next day delivery at £6. Also bought a couple of cans of gas as well, one mini for my belt pouch, one full size but low power for indoor plinking. Got some abbey ultra and sniper already knocking around for the next skirmish, if it's below 10C Now I did mention I was interested in the px4. Specifically because @Farapollo has a nearly new one for sale, with a spare mag included for around the £100 mark. And I twice contacted him about it. First I changed my mind and bought my F2000 for Xmas, and now this. Sorry Farapollo! So if anyone reading this thread has a hankering for a modern TM pistol, but thinks £135 plus another £30 for a spare mag is off-putting, I recommend you consider his package instead. It was such a great value proposition I still feel a bit silly for going for a pistol I slightly prefer the aesthetics of, but it's costing me so much extra cash. -
I'll have to order up some more popcorn with all those extra upgrades going in...

Special Ops is just off J14 of the M1... is that any use? It hasn't re-opened just yet though... had a game cancelled - end of the month probably https://www.specialopshq.co.uk/
