  1. Well I said I didn't need the Tri rail look, but I just found this at Ant-Supplies... https://www.ant-supplies.uk/rifle-bipod-fittings/tri-rail-spigot-adapter.html I'm not sure if the spigot makes it easier or harder to mount into the handguard, but it sure looks the same as the game... Edit: found another of my pics from the game... yeah it's a little different, and I can see the game's version would be a simpler fit (just in terms of square sections where they intersect through the handguard versus the more complex outlines of the spigot version). It's not going to be super-easy, might go back to a simple piece of rail and some relief cuts for the grip itself. Grip on order, won't turn up for another week though. Edit: For completeness, here's the finished work: a simple piece of rail fixed into the handguard, with the stubby grip attached.
  2. Yeah, on my shiny new Specna BBs. Oh dear. So I tested my other guns... In the words of Professor Denzil Dexter, "Results were disappointing" Well, mixed. F2000 = champ DE M906 = champ CA M16 = chump AK47 = chump The m16 went into full double-feed mode several times and i guess I've been lucky that the unjamming rod worked each time. I've found some split bits of BB where presumably the nozzle has chopped them in half. I'm still getting the thing where sometimes I bang the mag in and I hear it unwind. So I suspect the gun as much as the BBs I've managed to shoot a hole in the bottom of my bin too... me = chump I'll buy a bag of Geoff's to see whether the guns or the BBs are to blame.
  3. Ok, so part, or indeed all of the problem may have been... I'm an idiot. I had the metal block that engages with the magazine's front lip in upside down, thus allowing a lot of extra movement that would have screwed with the feeding. Now I've got the other common problem - the gun isn't feeding enough. Semi-auto is fine, full auto is ok for the first shot or two, then it's only intermittently firing BBs. I'll strip down the gun again and check the shimming to see if anything is binding inside (as per your previous comment on the 'AK not firing with all batteries' thread)
  4. Yeah that's a fair point. I guess we'll see what this kit is like... I do already own one of the little sidemounts that goes over the top of the rear sight. It's only held in place by a single screw and the top edge of the lower part of the handguard. It also might look quite clunky as it has a long-ish section of rail which will overhang the new section of rail, or the top cover. I haven't used it in the past because I only had the Kobra sight, which is a hefty beast. It made the gun feel a little too top heavy. The cheapo Amazon sight is much lighter and more compact so... Ah sod it, I put the gun back together (sort-of) and tried it... It's just too high up there for my taste. The folding stock gives a naturally low position relative to the gun, so it doesn't really work for quickly acquiring a good sight picture. Even with face pro in the way. The rail I could chop shorter and repaint, but I might as well leave it alone (or sell it, or use it in my F2000 build)
  5. I've got 18,000 Specna Core Bio BB's to get through before I can go back to Geoff's
  6. I'll have you know I don't go around throwing my hard(ly)-earned £25 willy-nilly and just on a whim! (I leave that to the wife 😕)
  7. Assuming you want to stick with Tamiya, you could go with this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5x-Pair-Mini-Tamiya-Battery-Connector-Heatshrink-Car-Airsoft-Car-Plane-RC-UK-/191369924879 Or you could do a 'proper job' and convert the gun and battery to Deans connectors https://www.amazon.co.uk/T-Plug-Connectors-Female-Shrink-Battery/dp/B087TWVQKT/ref=asc_df_B087TWVQKT/
  8. I'm thinking of buying this Now I don't suppose anyone here has bought one of these specific kits, but I know a few of you have Cyma AK's, and so I'd like to know how good this is likely to be? My existing fake wood stuff on my plastic-bodied AK creaks like a mo-fo, so this is primarily about quietening that and making the gun feel more solid. Next, the top and bottom RIS rails will allow me to run with a stubby grip and my new Amazon-special red dot. Which will be nice. And lastly, it's a cosmetic change from what I'm used to on the AK. I do like the looks of the standard gun, so a wood kit (if I can find one at a sensible price) remains an option. Any opinions on Cyma's polymer build quality?
  9. I did end up taking it... just two BBs in there, and I could already move them around against the nozzle, they just refused to drop down the feed tube. I even fashioned a spring hook from a bit of dowel with some bent guitar string attached to the end, but I couldn't coax them out of there. (If someone can manufacture a BB-puller for this situation, they could surely earn a few quid, certainly I'd be first in the queue) Anyway, AK now in bits, barrel given a quick clean with bit of cotton. I've mentally noted not to use cheapo BBs in that gun every again, and it's all ready for my next (cosmetic) purchase to arrive... if I go ahead with it that is. New thread *** incoming ***
  10. Thanks, with that you gave me the confidence to use a screwdriver to lever it gently away from the rest of the body. The front lugs were sticky, but there aren't any latches or anything, just a slight excess of friction. Here's what I'm trying to achieve... ... but I'm really not attempting to get a copy of that, so no need for the tri-rail look, it's just getting a stubby grip fitted solidly to the front. In fact that's quite a low fitting, I'd rather have it nearer to the barrel axis, so it could go further forward to help with that. (Not sure if the drawing of the grip, which I borrowed from an MP5K plan, is properly to scale) There's a cheap stubby on Amazon that I'm willing to hack to bits, if necessary https://www.amazon.co.uk/Element-Style-Stubby-Airsoft-Paintball/dp/B01N9LSV12/ref=sr_1_28 Here's what I'm working with inside the foregrip... I can grab a cheap 12cm length of RIS rail from my local retailer (Action Hobbies), and then it becomes a matter of dremelling a slot to hold the RIS with the grip in place, stabilising it the inside (maybe just need some woodwork screwed in place to the guard + body?) Is this all a silly thing to attempt, or have I "got a shot at the title"?
  11. Can I ask what video editing software you used to put that together?
  12. Quick question, because the next step is trying to cut a slot in the hand guard, to fix a RIS rail into it.... How do you take the front hand guard off? It looks like I just need to take the main locking pin out and then slide the barrel assembly off. And then push down on the handguard from the inside. But I don't want to push too hard in case I'm going to snap some clips (and I need as much stability there as possible) A quick pointer in the right direction would be much appreciated 😊
  13. Is there a trick to unjamming the barrel? Obviously I've pushed the unjamming rod down the barrel, having dialed out all the hop. I can now see a BB wedged at the top of the feed tube but not sure how to get it out of there, as I suspect there's another BB in the barrel pressing against it. I don't want to push too hard anywhere in case I bugger the gun altogether, but taking it apart is a bit of a ball-ache due to the fake bolt handle gubbins. Could I split the BB with a sharpened screwdriver and a bit of a tap? (Hah, I've said all that but I do have to break open the gearbox in case there's a shim gone walkies. Call it 'for future reference'!)
  14. Cheers 😊. There's not much to see as a 'build' yet, once I get the spray paint on it, and start hacking the front end to get a RIS rail and stubby grip on it, then it will be a build I've got astigmatism too, but it's working fine for me with my toric contact lenses. Lucky I guess! One thing I've noticed with this red dot is it is very small and low profile. So too low when I'm wearing my OneTigris mouth/ear protection. So I'm going to buy a riser rail for it. Well taking of airsoft scopes, I didn't get on that well with my old 4x32 scope on my M906, but I'm very tempted with this at £20... https://www.actionhobbies.co.uk/products/3-9x40-ir-zoom-scope/ Looks a bit of a bargain, but I'm spending some money on other things first... Expect another post in this thread soon 😋 Yes definitely interested in that! That looks superb for the price, I was willing to risk the sight rather than fit the usual type of lens protector in front of it.
  15. The aching void in my darkened soul can only be filled with..... STEEEENKING BADGESSSSSSSS You know it!
  16. This airsoft lark is worse than having a crack habit isn't it? My F2000 Battlefield 4 build slowly takes shape... got one of the "Amazon specials" red dot sights as it's the spitting image of the games' Coyote sight View down the sight (difficult to get the focus right, but the reticle is sharp in reality) All in all, it's pretty damned nice for £23, next day (Prime) delivery. The actual design means it won't survive being bashed on a tree, it's got nothing on my Kobra, but the build quality is decent. Next step is to try to build / bodge a RIS rail into the handguard so I can put a stubby grip on it...
  17. You're only saying that because you're on 13/14
  18. I bet you really enjoyed that some of my pistol shooting moments have been the most memorable
  19. Cheers guys The thing is I know the Gold Fire stuff is old and cheap (came from my loft, so more than a decade old) and the Bulldog stuff is crapola, but I have already gone through a lot of rounds of each with no problems I can remember. Most of it will have gone through the DE M906 though, which might be a bit more forgiving (I don't think its tight-bore barrel). I might just be unlucky now that it's happened a couple of times in quick succession, on different guns, so it's probably impossible to infer anything from that, but I thought I'd ask, just in case there's anything else.
  20. Yup, I've done exactly the same thing, with a slight twist as I'm the FNG who has been turning up as a solo Billy No-Mates, as my usual airsoft companion has been kept away by work. I don't want to feel left out, so got a name tag just to 'grease the wheels' socially. I wish everyone did it because I am absolutely frickin' terrible with remembering names!
  21. I had this happen on my F2000 when I was using a very old and perhaps rather tired Classic Army STANAG high cap, and yesterday it happened with my TM AK47 with its original (and thus also rather old) high cap mag... happily firing away on semi, but switching to full auto I've ended up with a 2 or more BBs jammed in the barrel. Easy to clear the F2000 thanks to its construction, but an utter pain on the AK as the BBs haven't popped out when using the unjamming rod - so I'll be disassembling the gun just to get rid of a few BBs. Arrghhh. Now it could be I'm just being unlucky with some of the cheapo BBs I'm using up. Gold Fire and Bulldog 0.20g at the moment. The TM has a tight bore barrel, and when I first used it a gazillion years ago it clogged up a couple of times until I switched from the cheap stuff back to TM BB's. And it could also be that I'm just having a quick test fire, so there aren't many BBs in the mags, and I'm not winding them up fully, so I might be encouraging a mis-feed once I'm in to a longer burst, and there's not enough to shove the BBs up into the hop unit properly. Or it could be that I've taken both apart, and I've upset something. Obviously I can just stick to newer (and hopefully better) ammo, load more in the mags and wind them up more (oh, and ditch the old CA mag as it's definitely looking its age), but is there anything else I should look out for? What could I have upset in the guns? If the AK motor isn't running freely could that cause it?
  22. (Replying to @Skara in the "What have you just bought" thread...) Cheers, I may well be able to drag the FPS under the site limit just by winding out the last of the adjustable spring guide doohickey, I've not undone 'freely' because I didn't want to wind the screw all the way out and have it rattling around... but when I crack open the gearbox to re-lube the gears and piston, I might find there's plenty of adjustment left. If that's not the case, then presumably the 420mm barrel + un-ported cylinder counts as "plenty of volume"?
  23. Excellent - Let's continue this in my F2000 tinkering thread...
  24. Ah, that's a thing I've not seen suggested before - is that to reduce power slightly, or for something else?
  25. Yeah I was looking at a Sky RC double channel charger to replace it https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/444856 Not that I've had any problems with it, after that initial weirdness tbh
