  1. Yeah I'm avoiding another assault vest because I had to wring the sweat out of my jacket when I wore one for half a day. The recommended chest rigs at least allow a bit more breathability. Damn it, even if I had all the money in the world to spend, I don't know what I want now 🥴
  2. Yeah I apologise about the tightness of the purse strings... I've got two guns being meddled with by the site technician (for which I'll owe some cash next time I play), a desire to buy a TM high capa (and ideally another rifle), and a wife who has got wise to the fact I want to spend money on this hobby when I'm telling her to be more careful with money each month 😋 So I'm trying to save money on this part of my kit, but I'm realising it's difficult to get the things I want at bargain basement pricing! Still, whatever I buy now doesn't have to be my 'forever' loadout, just need something better than sticking everything in pockets. For at least a couple of months.
  3. Thanks for that. I'll at least upgrade my intended purchase belt to a Molle battle-belt design, even though this means the cost is creeping up... The Bulle MLE is this thing? https://www.flecktarn.co.uk/odtmb2nx.html That certainly looks to have plenty of capacity and options to change how it's worn... but £30 before I stick anything else on it. The cost creeps up more! There's a simpler and lighter £25 battle belt with yoke which also looks good: https://www.flecktarn.co.uk/odtsb2nx.html Maybe I need to wait a little until I can get some really Gucci kit, rather than trying to shop at Primark (on a Sale day) Edit... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/8FIELDS-Padded-Battle-Patrol-Belt-with-Harness-Yoke-Molle-Olive-Green-/294252681805?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0 This molle belt with yoke that I've looked at before is now on offer to me at less than £14... It looks quite good at that price but I'm just worried the molle paneling is more around the back than the sides... Would the holster be badly positioned?
  4. I be been running around with mags and a pistol in my DPM95 trousers, it's time to get a bit more serious and get some webbing or tactical gear of some sort... My first attempt, a tac vest from Wish for a bargain price was a 'near miss'... I bought the grey digital camo version which was just too light coloured and didn't match my woodland gear, but it was so cheap it was only a test run at this anyway... The bigger problem was the pistol holster flopping about as I ran around, leading to the sound of velcro tearing and reattaching all the time, and the feel of the pistol about to fly off into the undergrowth... (It's a metal HFC M92) And the vest itself made me sweat like an absolute hog. So that's out. I've been looking at British Army surplus PLCE webbing, but I think even that might be a bit much, So the next alternative is a simple utility belt, with a holster, and a triple mag pouch. Maybe a dump bag behind, or a utility pouch too, but light weight is the key. Now the thing is my current kit means I'm wearing either a battle shirt or jacket, so the belt will be on the outside, not through the trouser belt loops. Will it be ok like that, or will it wobble around too much? Will I be able to pull my pistol from a hard shell push button retention holster, and the mags from the pouches cleanly? Any feedback or alternatives welcomed... I'm running at the cheap-skate bargain-bin end of the financial spectrum for the moment though! Used gear considered! Oh yeah.. side note, the pistol isn't working well, will probably buy a TM 5.1 to replace it... Here's the kit I'm thinking of to go with it.... https://www.iwholesales.co.uk/611750 (belt) https://www.iwholesales.co.uk/tactical-equipment/holsters/613242-WoSport-hi-capa-quick-release-holster-black https://www.iwholesales.co.uk/tactical-equipment/pouch/612243-big-foot-tactical-three-magazine-pouch-for-m4-ak-aug-od
  5. Hahaha 😋 Well I'm basing that on one day's play where I've hit everyone I've aimed at with it. So the gun was shooting as far as I can identify targets in the environment. The real range of the gun might very well be drastically reduced, but it was good enough! (I didn't know the hop was ineffective until I took it to the tech at the end of the day) I've watched a few videos of double eagle guns and I'm sold. Still haven't found anyone that sells their best guns though, I'll have to methodically work through each of the popular retailers. Shame that TaiwanGun aren't shipping to the UK at the moment Is that binary trigger a little bit of a cheat for semi auto games though? Edit.. Yeah I can't find any stock of double eagle. What a 'mare, the m904e looked a great option. It's only £95 at TWG too, though I don't know what the shipping and taxes would add to that. So yeah, the Aug still tempts me. I'll go look at the ARP556 as I happened across a video of one of those last night... Blimey, I only just caught up with looking at the Cyma .. £80 for a tidy looking gun? That's amazing value, to make up for a lack of cool features
  6. Yeah good point about the mags but from what I've seen the Ares and G&G seem to be on the less finicky side of that equation. I think the TM high cycle has a safe/single/auto selector, but good to hear that the cheap SnowWolf do the same. It's the high RoF that really sells the TM Aug though I've not found a good dealer for the Double Eagle yet, just ones selling the very cheapest electric guns and spring shotguns in two Tone. I'll keep looking!
  7. Hey thanks for all the replies, good stuff, cheers Well I've always had a soft spot for the looks of the MP5 but I think I'm sticking to the AR platform to re-use my mags, unless I'm very tempted by some special feature, like the quirkiness of the Aug (which I use a lot in Battlefield 4 when I'm gaming. I'm also a big in-game fan of the F2000 which *does* use M4 mags, so maybe I should go there...? I'd take the RIS version so I can stick my real-steel Kobra on top) The scorpion doesn't really float my boat, if I was to go for a PDW it would have to be something like the MP7. I've watched and re-watched a few videos of the Amoebas and Firehawk, and on-balance I was thinking the Firehawk. It's a little cheaper, and has the famed G&G CM reliability going for it. The comments on the slow trigger give me pause, but I've not played any true CQB yet, so maybe that's not vital Double Eagle is not a manufacturer I know anything about, except they often pop up very early on in an 'ascending price' sort! I'll go take a look! Edit: Ah, perhaps 'Golden Eagle' is what I've seen. Further investigation required...
  8. Hi. I get what you say about the bullpup, I've only handled a real-steel L85 many years ago, and an old TM Aug A1 and a ICS L85 recently, but briefly. The plastic / polymer construction does help a little with the balance I think, but yeah I probably needs some hands-on time to really gauge whether it's good for me The Raider was the first gun I put on my list, as everyone seems to think they're solid... if they're good enough for rentals they can take a lickin' and keep on tickin' I guess Is there anything 'missing' or that needs upgrading on the 2.0, that you've found? Patrolbase has them at ~320fps which I guess is fine if the hopup / bucking is ok... are they? How's the RoF?
  9. So I spent my last event running around with a full size steel bodied M16. (Actually a Classic Army M15A3 with a full stock) All good fun, and the hugely long barrel meant that even with a non-functioning hop-up (now being fixed) I could still get decent range, but by Gawd I was knackered at the end of the day. Scratch that, I was knackered by lunchtime. And that meant I was dawdling on my trips between spawn and the front line, and therefore not helping the team as much as I should The upshot is two things: 1) It quashed my desire to buy a G&G L85A2 with a SUSAT sight. That thing would weigh a ton! (It's a shame, I've always had a personal interest in the SA80 since I was a kid, so one day I really will have to get one, regardless of the weight) 2) It rekindled my interest in buying a short rifle, as the full length gun was very unwieldy at times Now I do also own a TM AK47S, which I haven't been able to use in anger in my new spate of airsofting... it had been upgraded and exceeds the 350fps limit. My ham-fisted attempt to replace the spring ended in an explosive disassembly of the trigger and gearbox, so it's with the site tech to put back together! That will fit the bill for 'short and light', but it is a bit creaky around the front hand guard. But of course I couldn't resist looking at buying something new... I've been looking around at what polymer-bodied guns I could get, and as a differentiator from the AK, in a really short-bodied format. I've got 4 M4 hi-cap mags, and 2 AK hi-caps. I might want to go mid-cap in the future, but for the moment going with an M4 platform makes sense. I've got a cheapo NimH battery charger, and two 1600/1700 mAh stick batteries with t-connectors What do you guys 'n' gals think of these options? And the second is: are any of these guns so short-barrelled that they'll be useless in a woodland environment? What effect does the barrel length have in reality?
  10. I wish I'd read this thread before I went shopping. I was wearing a pair of very cheap working boots but they split, so I had to go find something towards the bargain-bin end of the market. The comments are very interesting and I'd probably have stepped back from buying the surplus Austrian Paratrooper 10" chunky leather boot with the full lining, a gazillion lace holes, and the (hopefully) waterproof design. Instead I would have gone for some ankle-supporting Mil-Tec cordura + leather tac boots (brand new, for the same £40) instead. The Mil-Tecs would certainly be easier to get on and off, and would be lighter too. But I'm old and fat, and already have dodgy ankles from too much 5-a-side footy, so maybe the ankle support I hope to get from those para boots will be the right choice. I do play exclusively on a woodland site, so I'm definitely at risk of finding holes or just tripping over... and when the weather gets worse I might appreciate the waterproofing too. I'm waiting on the boots to get delivered, I'll report back once I've tried 'em on!
  11. Thanks for the replies Yeah, I found the Guarder kit but can't find it in... stock. If you'll pardon the pun (I wouldn't ) I think I'll disassemble my gun to see if I can reduce the creakiness of the plastic with some sponge or plasticine... until that Guarder or universal kit becomes avaiable. (I'm not afraid of using a Dremel, but looking again at the kit I linked to, that seems to have more wood at the front of the handguard than the airsoft kits)
  12. 'Gel ball', is that the cross between paintball and airsoft thing? I thought it was a mis-translation but I do remember seeing about that a few years back (and thought it was pretty cool) Anyway - thanks for the heads-up! I'll maybe try pinging them a message, I'm just not really trusting my Chinese language skills
  13. Hi, I'm looking to replace the creaking plastic foregrip on my TM AK47S. I've seen a few wooden stock parts on AliExpress but I'm not entirely sure the parts will fit when they don't specifically mention TM. Has anyone here tried one of these out, and can recommend a specific kit? Are they easy to fit? Edit: Here a link to something that looks like it would be correct.. but I'd hate to waste £45 if it isn't! https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001608483620.html (first 'colour') PS Apologies if I've posted this in the wrong forum
