You are going about this the right way by asking our community for their advice in regards to which ‘first’ AEG you should buy. Funds aside, (circa £550), any AR/HK TM out of the box is superb. You will not be disappointed. The 416 Devgru is a great looking gun too and it has a good weight to it albeit a tad front heavy do to its rail. The only thing you really need to do to it is the deans connector mod. Ask the retailer to do that for you. And then of course you will need a few more magazines. Don’t bother with hicaps as the the bolt stop will not work with that type. And here’s a thing, if you have not used a TM recoil before ask someone at your local site if you can have a go on theirs. 99% of the time peeps will be happy to show you what they have. And one more thing as Edcase has said above, get proper boots and proper eye pro. Ah one more thing too. Don’t go cheap on a decent sling, if you think you need one that is. The last thing you want is a sling from failing and your shiny new pew pew hitting a concrete floor.

The price is fair for a TM gen 4. I think as the slide has been resprayed a buyer may as for some wiggle room but that’s just me wanting to save a tenner 😂 My AW drum mag will fit that 😂😂😂

Nice Glock 17, it’s a Marui so will be great out of the box. But why have a blue front site and why respray the original Marui slide?

Like with many things in life sometimes one needs and additional shove to be better and stronger. The case in point is Steve Rodgers. Once he was given the super soldier serum he became Captain America! If there was any one TM that was designed in mind to have an upgrade path to Super Soldier stardom it’s the 417. It’s potential as a DMR is devastating.

I second what Cyberlawer has said about the MWS. The immersion is right up there with the recoil, the bolt carrier group movement and of course the bolt stop (the latter two which you can get with some brands of AEG). And let’s not forget the lo-cap magazines (circa 32 rounds per mag). The bottom line is it’s such a fun replica to use. However, you will need to adapt your style of play in so far as you can kiss your auto days goodbye. With auto brings potential cool down of the mags as an example and of course the lo-cap limit of the mags.

Component shop are one of the better places for lipos. Just make sure you know what you’re ordering and pay attention to the battery dimensions. Plus they can modify the connector of your choice for a small fee either 50p or £1 extra

I haven’t bothered getting anything from the EU to be honest. Just can’t be bothered with all their faff. All my TM parts come from HK or Japan and are here within a few days with no fuss.

I get both sides of the argument here and I understand why some sites just use fps and ask the player what BB weight they are using. One of my sites does this and then they just compare the fps speed with the bb weight. If you have 100 players checking in then the last thing you want is the chrono time to take forever. Our sport relies on honesty but let's face it you will get those players who will inevitably tell porkies coz they consider themselves entitled. At least I know I'm being honest and that's what matters.

What’s interesting is the blowback mechanism is kinda similar to that of the SCAR which makes sense I guess. However by doing that, have Marui been forced to have different dimensions to the real thing? And more importantly how robust is that HK slap gonna be!! The electronics/mosfet will be a point of curiosity. Can you program anything etc? And that hop with all that Marui magic? How good is it? I’m sure it will be spot on but time will tell. All good stuff though

Budget aside, the TM HK 417 was born to be a DMR. Stick in a longer tight bore barrel, change the hop rubber and change the spring and spring guide and voila, 450 FPS. Of course the auto fire must be disabled but that easy to do. Either modify the selector plate as per @Rogerborg above or a Gate Titan. It goes without saying the stock TM gears will go at some point and maybe the bushes too. Essentially it becomes a money pit. But hey you can pop a zit on the nose of a speed softer at 80m.

I was gonna say exactly as you speedy in regard to this. There must be peeps on here who could knock up a 3D printed part?
