GBBs can always benefit from a quick once over before a game day. Personally, I'll also be giving my barrels a good clean just in case anything like dust has found its way inside. I'm the other way. I was fitting a rubber knife to my belt kit yesterday and when I put the belt on to see how the draw was, it almost fell down xD I will, however, also agree with this. Make sure to check how your kit fits and make adjustments where necessary.

It's okay, not everyone can have superb taste, but at least you're open to admitting your flaws... IMI holster plus a molle mount is great, I use one for my p226 and it's never let me down. Warrior Assault Systems for the pistol mag pouches, because they're just plain fantastic. The Warrior holster can still press the mag release if it's pressed on at a certain angle, which probably won't happen unless you find yourself crawling around a lot. The IMI ones won't because they're hard. If you ever want to mount a flashlight to it, go with Kydex Customs. Those holsters are fantastic and can mount onto certain flashlight models.

There is definitely a case for keeping a bolt action at 1J, but it's a different style and it shouldn't be forced upon the entire community. Relies even heavier on the fieldcraft aspect of sniping as opposed to the long range shots. Shouldn't be a requirement, but I'm saying there is a niche for it and I've done it before; had a lot of fun and a lot of success, as 1J allows you to take those shots within 30m >:D (though I run HPA so it's effortless for me to change the power at the start of a game day)

Are we talking real or airsoft here, because my mk23...

My cadet experience was a little bit different. Some people would classify me as a good cadet, some would classify me as an absolute delinquent, depending on how much weight you put behind the dress-up aspect vs the "in the field" aspect. I got away with my appearances being "good enough" (boots polished, but not a mirror. Flat collar and ironed kit, but I didn't have pronounced trouser creases. No hospital corners, but bed was neatly made etc.), because I was one of the most adept when it came to the practical side of things such as rifle marksmanship and fieldcraft, even better than pretty much all of the older, more senior cadets. I understood why they made us do it, but I also was far more interested in the practical stuff. I remember when I was on a cadet exchange to Australia, the adult who was with us, who wasn't part of my cadet unit, pulled me aside and berated me about my "good enough" gear, saying it could be better and I told him it's better to be effective in the field than in the wardrobe. After we went on our 3 day field exercise he didn't berate me about my gear once xD Also, I got into airsoft at pretty much the same time as I got into cadets, so by my 2nd year when I had made friends with the more senior cadets and the staff, I was showing up to overnight exercises with some of my own kit; was so glad to swap out that PLCE webbing for my WAS chest rig What cadets did show me was that the military was not for me as a full time endeavour; I think the life would grate against me if I had to do it all the time. Loved cadets, but I know I couldn't do that full time, especially not if I can't get away with my kit being "good enough"!

@Lozart is a reptilian trying to distract us from the lizard people who run the world.

Now THAT is an mp5! (spoiler alert: that's the model I want to get xD)
-
That's the plan. Expensive, but it just seems to be the best! I've more than done my part in 2020; I bought so much stuff. Plus, I buy basically everything through my local site nowadays
-
Stop buying until sites re-open and we can keep playing. Achieve enlightenment and temper an iron will! Honestly, I can see the point and it has made it a lot easier for me to stop buying, though I'm a bit more extreme as I feel I've spent too much in the past few months so I'm going to take the time to just enjoy what I have for now and won't buy anything new until summer. Yes, I want a Polarstar engine for one of my m14s. Yes, I want a cyma mp5 with a folding stock. Yes, I want a TM HK45 Tactical, but there's no point if I can't even use them

I'm going to simultaenously agree and disagree with you on that. The issue with everyone being 1J is that HPA now has the silence that bolties pretty much exclusively had. How many ghillies with MTWs have you seen floating about? I've seen absolutely loads, but none are interested in playing that spotter role with me and my VSR/m14 😢 However, you are correct. 1J is viable for a proper sniper role as most of the sniper part of the role is about the fieldcraft. Heck, I'll frequently advocate for it, but it shouldn't be a requirement; I even go far as to say that 1.6J for DMRs is pointless as the benefits of the extra energy aren't worth the MED drawback, but that's my potentially unpopular opinion . The higher power is potentially the only mechanical advantage bolt actions still have over other platforms now that you get MTWs putting out comparable ranges and being just as quiet, but also being full auto. And yeah, as has been said, the more rules and regs that come in to limit and regulate the hobby, the closer we get to being like Australia and having it outright illegal. It's an easy vote winner, so politicians just love excuses to clamp down on "violent gun crime"
-
See, I prefer keeping to 1.1J for DMRs because gaining that 30m MED space is worth a lot more than the 5 or so metres I'll gain from going to 1.6J. I still wouldn't advocate for the DMR limit being removed, because having the choice is nice, and a lot of people do prefer it.

All hail glorious chairman typefish

*looks at both VSRs, each costing in excess of £800 to build* I sincerely hope this gains absolutely no traction whatsoever...

No, you aren't annoying as a generalisation. The annoying ones are the ones who start telling you how to play and how you're playing wrong, though this isn't exclusive to serving airsofters, non-serving airsofters are just as good at doing this; there's no such thing as playing wrong in airsoft, which is one of the wonderful things about our hobby. Want to dress like an operator and emulate squad based tactics and stuff, then you do you. Also if you want to dress in a pink leotard and a froofy tutu and run around with two GBB pistols, then all power to you for doing so. I'd honestly find it illuminating pairing up with a serving soldier in airsoft, to get pointers and observe how they'd play the ghillie sniper role. Playing spotter for a serving sniper for an airsoft skirmish day or even a longer game like filmsim or milsim would be an interesting experience, but probably not something I'd want to do on a regular basis! As much as I like to improve my game and become a better airsoft sniper, I also enjoy the fact that it isn't like the real thing and I don't have to lie in my own waste product for days. I enjoy the fact that it's a bit more hollywood and lone wolf-esque.

When I played at a mixed CQB "site" in Spain, it was a mix of buildings and outdoor; an abandoned urbanisation so it was a collection of townhouses which led to a lot of building to building firefights. Camo doesn't really matter nearly as much, so wear whatever you want. I went PMC, coyote trousers and a black t-shirt, because I like the look, but I never felt like I was at any disadvantage against the guys in camo. Also, short sleeves were nice in the Spanish summer! Reason I say "site" is because when I did airsoft in Spain there were no official sites. It was the time before any sites had been set up and it was still basically an unknown there; I think I went to one of the first proper weekend events in the south of Spain, up in the mountains near Ojen back in 2009 or something. I still never wore lower face protection, but I feel it's the responsible thing to recommend, especially since airsoft guns have come on a lot since then. Back when I last did CQB I was a big dog for using incredibly heavy .25s in my gun! And nobody had ludicrious rate of fire, either.

Still, I don't see why it should be so easy to copyright claim. It seems like a textbook example of fair use? It's definitely limited and for a transformative purpose as it's definitely a criticism. "In its most general sense, a fair use is any copying of copyrighted material done for a limited and “transformative” purpose, such as to comment upon, criticize, or parody a copyrighted work." However, he definitely should NOT have been doxxed. That's never acceptable!

I have the cyma cm.351M (the metal version of the shorty) and I absolutely love it; everyone should have a cheapo spring shotgun in their arsenal! Since I got a new rifle bag (needed one to carry both the VSR and m14), it has a pouch on the front for a smaller RIF so I'm going to be bringing it to every skirmish day moving forward after this damned lockdown. It's a great bit of fun and well worth the money, especially if you ever go to one of those games with special rulesets like pistols and shotguns only. Mine came with three shells and I bought an extra pack of 6, but honestly you don't need more than three or four and they're cheap as chips. I thoroughly recommend the cyma springers, though I'd always pay a bit more for the metal bodied one. Will it be the greatest performing RIF ever? No, but is it a fantastic bit of fun that will do exactly what you need a shotgun to do for a relatively small price.

I feel I need to make my obligatory "Warrior Assault Systems am bestest" post https://www.uktactical.com/p-8706-warrior-cargo-pack-olive-drab.aspx Not sure if it can take a 3L hydration bladder as I use a canteen instead in mine, but this is a fantastic pack that is lightweight but very sturdily built.

This is, honestly, one of the things that drew me to sniping. This happens a lot more often because MED
-
It's why I've converted primarily to HK pistols. The mag release is a lot less likely to accidentally press itself while I'm crawling through bushes!
-
Or drawing it and realising at some point your mag release has been pressed and ejected the magazine somewhere 5 minutes behind you...
-
You don't need one, especially if you're running an AEG with high cap magazines. It'll spend the vast majority of the day in the holster and the only time it will come out is when you're all shooting each other in the butt on your way between games. Are they fun? Hell yeah they are and I'd always recommend adding one to your kit, but is it necessary? Do you need it to be effective? Nope. If you're running low cap or mid cap magazines it's a lot more useful as you'll find yourself reloading in the middle of a firefight and might need to transition (which feels great). If you're using a sniper, it's essential.

Have You Hpa'd in the Past and Left it Behind?
Impulse replied to alxndrhll's topic in High Pressure Air
I'll weigh in with "sort of" I converted my VSR to HPA and I love it. Wraith CO2 adapter is a fantastic piece of kit and lets me carry everything inside the RIF. It's silent, the bolt pull is short and effortless, plus I don't have to worry about tanks and lines and having a scuba tank to fill. The "sort of" comes from me buying a tank, mostly for a project I plan on doing in the summer, however I tried it with the VSR and didn't like having to carry the tank on my person. Sometimes I like to just put my rifle down and do some pistol work before going back to collect it, which you can't do with a tank; it forces you to at least sling your rifle which takes precious seconds. When I do HPA the m14, I'll be looking at ways of carrying either a small tank or trying to jury rig some sort of CO2 power source and keep them in a stock pouch. Thinking a smaller HPA tank in an Invadergear stock pouch. So for me, HPA is a great thing for snipers and DMRs (even if the m14 will be kept at 1.1J, the Polarstar engine is semi-auto only. I'm not a hypocrite!). For anything full auto or any pistol, I don't see the point. Battery and gas is far easier and more convenient, and if you want to take someone out silently, just carry a mk23. Yes, I get that the MTW is a fantastic piece of kit and one of the other ghillies at my local site has moved away from their SRS and onto an MTW, but if I'm going with something full auto, I'm just going with a simple battery. Plus, why would I want to use a power source that is larger than the RIF it's powering, in reference to HPA on pistols. -
Around 500 leaves, all hand coloured and waiting to dry. I'm merging what works with my current webtex concealment vest ghillie suit with a new leaf suit; namely, elastic loops for natural foliage, so shouldn't need thousands of leaves to cover the suit. Just a couple to break up the uniformity (as leaf suits tend to come stitched in neat lines...). Also got more than enough raffia to scatter around Project 2 of 2 is moving along nicely. At this rate, I'm going to run out of projects before we get back out there 😧 If it goes well, I might indulge myself about £20 to buy some more leaves and inks so I can do more and bulk out my suit a bit more.

I just keep the original packaging and keep them in that. Works for me!
