  1. look guys, we gotta accept that airsoft is a sport that attracts folks from various ages and backgrounds, it should be no surprise that forums surrounding it will be no exception. that's inevitably going to lead to dealing with folks with whom you have some fundamental philosophical disagreement with whether that separation be age, politics, religion or whatever. however i do think that alex has a point that certain things are best left unsaid on a public forum, although not for the same reasons. one of the things i've always loved about this forum compared to many is how rarely debates of this sort arise, either because they're not talked about or because folks here realize the truth that arguing with someone on an internet forum isn't going to get them to change to any great degree. on the flip side, shamal and druid have a point that if you support free speech as an ideal then you have to accept that also means accepting others should be allowed to voice opinions that don't sit well with you. I realize that it's an easy trap to fall into, hell i remember the vaccine debate suckered me in good and proper, but looking at the long term you can choose to either hold the grudge and end up having constant little spats (until the forum suffers for it), or accept the inevitability that nothing's going to change the other party's mind and you're better off forgetting it and focusing on the real issues that affect us all. like kickingmustang and speedsofters and hpa users because for sure we ain't gonna be solving a problem as complex as racism from behind a keyboard.
  2. Hey guys whats with all the notifications....
  3. and so my fictional character turns real also he missed a hell of an opportunity to cash in on the borderlands reference..... sadly i'm afraid that reference went over my head
  4. if you'd met him you'd know......
  5. absolutely this. anyone who gets paid to fix airsoft gnu's calls themselves an airsoft tech, regardless of their qualifications. if you're going to insist that their work adds value then you need to name drop so their reputation can do it for them. otherwise a buyer must only assume that the work was done by billybob who took up airsoft teching after failing his degree in surfing and has only been doing it for a month. and fully upgraded is a meaningless term, has it had literally every part replaced? has everything that could improve performance been done? the answer is no, because nobody replaces every single part and performance is such a wide term that to optimize a build in one aspect precludes optimization elsewhere.
  6. you need to be using a tool like a lathe to finish the end of the barrel. you'd be as well buying a new, shorter, inner barrel rather than trying to cut.
  7. anyone know how one un-hides adverts?

  8. he does say he did it because he didn't like the original finish, which is believable as folk do indeed recolor slides for that reason. front sight just looks like a preference thing, he even says it might not be to everyone's tastes. *dons flamesuit* besides, it's a glock, someone will put a speedtacticalpointdefendertigerdragon slide on it with some uberacquireultrabritespeedshot fibre optic sights on it, add a red dot which blocks the sights spend 5 hours with a soldering iron burning the frame for extra grip so they can hip-fire with a 50-round extendo clipazine. sorrynotsorry
  9. yeah, hard to tell from the pics. tbf if it was 2-tone it's been hidden well and if you were going to change from the green well you'd be repainting anyway. this is a fair point, as much as there's dreaming going on with the price at least he has plenty of information for a buyer to make a decision over.
  10. it is a multitude of sins, struggling to think of what else you could do.
  11. so it's missing fire selector parts, bonus points for inclusion of the "it's an easy fix" line. especially given ambi selectors reputation for being a pain in the proverbial. it's has some sort of gearbox work in the past, but no specifics as to the parts or the tech who installed them, which given the range of quality of work you see in this hobby could well see it worse than just stock. barrel extended through the suppressor, not strictly a bad thing in itself but wonder wether it's been volume matched...... descriptions of good firing, which will always need taken with a pinch of salt, even ignoring the bias of the sellers own description it's a perceptive description and what one person thinks is good another may not. broken red dot, un-named magnifier half a sling, apparently you get the other half with a plate carrier? at least you get a magpul stock and larue risr... oh wait..... and this is apparently worth pretty much double the rrp?
  12. an accurate summation. certainly for me i think it was the catalyst that set everything going. ofc doesn't help that life is getting rather fluid at the moment, work is getting very heavy at the minute and the prospect of having to move for work is coming up, so having some extra pennies in the bank and less stuff to worry about is reassuring. maybe once the chaos subsides i'll come back, or maybe i'll move on to pastures new.
  13. I get the feeling. haven't been in months now and it might not have escaped the notice of some that i'm going through the process of flogging gear. originally i'd planned to just drop down to one gun, one rig etc, the bare minimum. but even changed my mind about that and everything's going on the list. i think what killed it for me was coming back after lockdown and running into the same old shit, the non hit takers, the chrono dodgers, the aggressive players and thought to myself "why am i doing this?", it's never going to change, no site is immune, it's just human nature. it's such a lottery, at least for the sites i have access to, as to whether or not a game is going to be enjoyable. you get a good crowd on a good day it's an amazing experience but it doesn't take many assholes to ruin things. which ultimately means you can't guarantee that if you've had a shit week at work, or whatever that going pewing is going to lift your spirits or push them further down. ofc i haven't figured out what i'm gonna do instead, airsoft did strike a beautiful balance as a hobby where kit isn't the hardest to store and transport (compared to say a car or a boat), is affordable (again, compared to say buying a classic car), and combines social, exercise, and nerdy tinkering together (compared to say rc models which round here is pretty much a solo endeavour).
  14. Afaik they seem to fall into the latter of your categories. They do a nbb makarov which is an excercise in questioning why you'd expend the effort in a world where the mk23 exists
  15. think it's less having the right idea, as more adapting to the requirements/limitations of the platform. standard m4 ergonomics make a lot more sense when you need things like the buffer tube and gas tube for the gun to work and recoil is a thing.
  16. four thought? i can barely manage one thought at a time....

  18. if you're meaning the bizon then that looks like an amazon special red dot on your generic ak siderail. something like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/JASHKE-1x30mm-Holographic-Picatinny-Hunting/dp/B081CS6SDC/ref=sr_1_7?dchild=1&keywords=1x30+red+dot&qid=1628037398&sr=8-7
  19. damn as a note for any new players- we get that 2-tone is a necessary evil and most of the time nobody is gonna judge you for it. unless you do it to something nice then all bets are off.
  20. I'm a sucker for blued steel, and i like the feel of a gun with a bit of heft to it. That's pretty much it, i think alloy on an ak is too reminiscent of the old jg/cyma rentals which whilst i wont deny are good shooters for the cash they dont age all that well.
  21. Its a tricky one, the we (and now tm) ones seem better designs out of the box (granted the we is spoiled by poor materials) with the full stroke dead mans click. But then folks buying a high end ak are kinda gonna want steel. I suppose if it gets the popularity the mws did then aftermarket recievers are a possibility. Certainly its a deal breaker for me, even on a 74
  22. This is a fair point, i'm assuming if its not rs fitment it wont be long before aftermarket wood is available. Hence asking about the reciever, the one part thats gonna be hardest to change.
  23. pretty much any aeg is possible to hpa, the question is how difficult it'll be to acheive. a standard cylinder drop-in like the f2 would be the obvious choice, it'll come with either a v2 or v3 triggerboard but if the gun is doing something weird you can use a plugboard and wire in to the original trigger contacts. the only other area will be nozzle length. you can either find one for a gun with a similar length, get a longer nozzle and machine it down yourself, or send the measurements to polarstar who can make custom nozzles to order. there may be some fettling required- filing off stuff on the inside if it's catching on the gearbox, drilling holes for airline/cable routing etc. i still hold the f2 is the best all-rounder engine on the market currently in terms of offering the level of tunability you'd want from the likes of a fusion engine, with the flexibility to be dropped into a much wider array of guns.
  24. guess the all important question is what's the reciever made of? i for one would find anything less than blued steel on such a gun a bit of a deal breaker
  25. even better if you stick them in the branches of trees so they wave around a bit. the streams of tracers and the cries of constarnation are very enjoyable.
