  1. If you can still feel your legs at the end of the day you werent trying hard enough
  2. my preference for weight based chrono'ing is it requires you to lie in order to pass the initial chrono, so if your gun's found out to be spicy after that then you either lied about the weight or did some field tinkering, either way you can be righteously booted. of course this is an idealised scenario, which hope, if not expect, to actually happen.
  3. there's also the aps uar versus everyone's favourite belgian space fish end of the day the issue is joe public calls the police "i seen a man with a gun" they're not going to ask "was it the version with the romanian or bulgarian furniture?", they're gonna ask some serious questions.
  4. i agree that random spot checks are a good idea, although i've yet to go to a site that actually does them.
  5. he did indeed. of course there are facts and there are perception, and the problem is would you trust your life to it?
  6. Depends on the site, some shove .2's on top of whatevers in your mag (they'll make you fire off a few rounds if its full), others will ask what weight of ammo your using.
  7. what weight of ammo to chrono on is a matter of some debate. one side of the argument is that if a site uses 0.2g to chrono all the guns then they know nobody's done the old "it's 0.2g honest guv" routine when they were actually firing say 0.4's. the other side of the argument is that some guns (notably longer barreled gbb's and hpa's) are susceptable to what's known as joule creep, where a gun that's firing fine on 0.2's becomes much hotter only by changing ammo to something heavier. this means even an honest player might think his gun is fine because it passes on 0.2's but the 0.3g ammo he's firing in game is hitting much harder. it is somewhat counter intuitive, especially to think that a round that's going slower will go further, that's why i sat down and actually did the math to see if there was a definitive best answer.
  8. short answer because heavier ammo travels further for the same energy, we chrono on 0.2's because it's traditional and the numbers are what people are familiar with. long answer is here:
  9. oh, lol i thought you'd meant the other way round. i mean snapping at a customer is unprofessional but not unforgivable when there's context behind it.
  10. it does indeed read like he's had a long hard day and getting notifications right before bed was the straw that broke the camels back, however snapping at someone is one thing, following it up is another. i mean if he'd replied the next day and simply said "yeah i'm sorry, been a very rough day that was unprofessional" then that would be fine, but the rest of his reaction is just adding fuel to the fire.
  11. according to the complaints about the m1 carbine having an insufficiently lethal round i suspect there might have been some creative use of game mechanics. either that or usgi's aren't as good at shooting as they think they are....
  12. in general i can get a full day's shooting from a 1100mah 11.1v, but it's a really hard question to answer because it depends as much on how the gun is setup and how you shoot it as anything else.
  13. next day is always better. i generally hold to the standard of expecting folk to check/respond to their emails once per working day so i never expect a reply in any shorter time than 24 hours. if that's how it went down then i must admit i'd find it hard to sympathise with milspec on this, people send messages at all hours, hell how does he know the guy isn't in a different time zone and emailing him at 2pm?
  14. the last post on the timeline reads like classic pissed off and angry to me. but again hard to tell if that's a position to be sympathetic to without the full story. ahh well, i already got my svd mags from ky anyway.....
  15. see this is why i dislike not having seen the start of how things all kicked off, i'd rather read the original comments he and the customer had because out of context it's hard to judge if it was the reaction of an arsehole, a joker, or a stressed shop owner losing his mind over yet another difficult customer. seeing things in retrospect/secondhand makes it much harder for me to form my own opinion.
  16. this is the thing, you can have nominally the same gun on paper but a bit of tlc in the assembly will make a drastic difference to how well it performs. i mean that's pretty much why there's a market for people like negative airsoft.
  17. gotta love that i'm mid-guide writing on a bunch of stuff like this. essentially lipo's are capable of much higher currents, their power curve is better (it goes for ages then suddenly stops rather than the slow decline of nimh), and they're less susceptable to memory (or losing performance over time) however they do need a little more care, you want good quality charging equipment, they can burn through your trigger contacts if you're not using a mosfet, and if you over-discharge them (for example by trying to keep firing as it runs out of juice) then it'll kill them. have a read of this thread as to why you need to take your charging equipment seriously: https://airsoft-forums.uk/topic/49777-imax-b6s-are-st-change-my-mind/
  18. it comes to something when you feel like you have to video your every interaction with a product just as proof you didn't mess with it. also looking at the shooting video, do we wanna place bets the gun he's personally using has had a little more tlc than the end product?
  19. this is one of the things i hate about the internet is when the original drama thread gets deleted and you missed the party. that's the price i pay for living under a rock i guess
  20. the problem is the titan might be the top end of mosfets, but it's a demanding piece that requires the rest of the box to be built with certain restrictions and to a high standard. i'm gonna place bets that the gearbox grease messing up the sensors is gonna be the number 1 complaint on these.
  21. it was on prime a while back, might still be.
