Thanks to @Lozart for setting me up with some medium scope mounts that are the perfect height since the low mounts it came with were too low. I wanted it as low as possible and with the medium rings it's less than 1mm clearance over the rear sight, so it's perfect! M14 recce setup is now done!

Not liking the look of Glocks is quite understandable - it's a box on a grip.  However, I rather like handling them.  Odd, really.

How anyone can find the Hi Power ugly... well I just don't get it

I have a few GBBRs but I still haven't used them in a game yet because of the necessity to bring loads of mags WITH extra BBs and gas into the game.
And you'll still be outgunned by anyone with a couple of hi-caps
 
If you really want an entry GBBR to use in the garden then the cheapest option is the WE G36
BUT the internal parts will only last a few thousand shots before the trigger sear wears out so be prepared to buy spares from KYAirsoft

I see you're a Colonial chap who's talking about real steel (again: this is an airsoft forum, toy guns, pew-pew-pew), so why not order an auto-sear online using your credit card and let your government come and remove your safes for you?

Don't do it... you obviously don't know what type/style of pew you like, try as many aeg's as you can first or you'll be spending a fortune to only regret the purchase & we'll/I'll end up offering you 60-70% what you paid when it ends up in the classifieds.
 
If that's not the answer you want to hear go onto youtube and watch as many gbbr video's as you can.
 
If you do buy a GBBR, get a Calico, CZ Scorpion, L85A2 or a G3 etc coz I don't have one of these yet.

Ok, I heated the end of the spring and compressed about 15 mm ish. Put it all back together and it was totally dead!! Stripped it apart, and slipped, it all went flying all over the floor! Bollocks!!!!! So reshimmed, rebuilt, reassembled and it shoots lovely but stitting at a reasonably consistent 305fps on .28s so 1.2j. Still a little spicy. It was around 320fps on .28s - 1.3j.
I've had a look but can't find a spring thats 160mm so I'll probably just heat/compress a little more. Not today though.

Sorry Oli but the truth is that's just a toy and not real airsoft.  There's nothing you can do with it.
The cheapest pistol you can get that's actually worth having is THIS one or THIS full setup.

Its probably the exhaust valve. If you can, take it out and oil it or replace the o rings.
