Field Gear
Lozart and 4 others reacted to ButcherBill for a topic
My loadouts (if I wore them all), but is really part of my collection. I tend to use the MTP webbing & DPM chest rig but have used the Osprey mk4 and the DPM PLCE but the rest is kit I can wear, but haven't yet (it's all adjusted to fit my fat arse). The Osprey mk4 has different panels set up for P90, 5.56, 7.62 & 9mm mags. The full Osprey mk4 is really just for display & has TOO MANY attachments. Will buy an Osprey mk4 belt at some point which will even up the mag distribution. The Bundeswehr field gear is currently set up for G3 mags but I have pouches for G36 mags too. The DDPM vest has G36 pouches. The UCP FLC fits well but the carry handle digs into the middle of my neck so uncomfy to wear(could remove it but want to keep it stock). The UCP TAP is ok but very front heavy. The Pattern 58 is the first set I got because it was my webbing from my time in the TA & responsible for my collections. I also collect the Bergens & field packs to go with most of these sets, & some helmets.5 points -

Converting from mini-Tamiya to Deans...

In terms of the terminals on the mini-Tamiya connector, the circle would be the red cable and the square would be the black cable so if you were converting it to Deans, the cable from the circle terminal of the mini-Tamiya would be soldered on to the horizontal part of the Deans "T" whereas your square terminal cable from the mini-Tamiya would be soldered on to the vertical part of the Deans "T".2 points

Pop down to your local macca’s after dark and offer it to the ones hanging around. Tell them it’s bulletproof and you’ll get £100 easy I reckon! As Gavin said though, it will definitely be worth a good price to a collector or a reenactor as plates are relatively difficult to come by, especially a “pair”2 points

As someone who has been going to Gunman events of all kinds for over 12 years, and one of the aforementioned player marshalls at many of them ( I help run the WARPAC forces in the Cold War games) I feel qualified to say that your general attitude (as evidenced by your posts) is not what we want at Gunman events.2 points -

Colin Allen and one other reacted to Baser for a topic
Fun but frustrating day at Apocalypse in Kent on Sunday. Frustration started on Friday as mates started dropping out and I ended up going alone. On site game play was good and fair but the teams were very un balanced, I played for the blue team and we were thoroughly out classed by the reds. A few calls for cheating on both sides but nothing unusual and I didn't see or hear it myself. First game was find 3 artefacts and return them to your base, the reds had all 3 items in their base before we got a sniff of a single one and we then had to push to their base to take the items back. Got to within a few meters at the very end of the game but they were well set up with snipers taking the sting out of our push making the rest of us easy pickings. Second game was pick up tokens, take them to the arms dealer to buy a bomb then deliver the bomb to a location. We took the building with the tokens in it at the start but the reds attacked hard and pushed us back, grabbed their tokens, got the bomb and made it to the location before we got a single token to the arms dealer. Again plenty of silent BB's slowing and stopping our progress. Third game was a bit of fun, after the first couple of games a few blues left as they were getting salty about loosing and a few of the reds left as they thought it was a bit easy. The Marshalls split the ghillies from both teams into their own team, I do love a 3 team game!! A barrel was placed in no mans land with the usual blue on one end and red on the other stick on it, if it was blue at the top the blues won, red the reds won, if it was on the floor the ghilles won. As expected an all out BB war commenced, intense CQB, full auto blue vs full auto red vs the trusty and silent MK23. Not sure why the teams were so unbalanced as it's not usually at this site? I know there were a lot of snippers on site as it was mentioned in the brief maybe they turned the tide? I know we were slow in advancing and kept getting bogged down. The reds also held a lot of the key spots, there was someone out there with a LMG giving it some as it made a distinct sound and I heard and felt it a few times. Took the G3 DMR, MP5K and a Sig 226. The DMR decided it didn't want to stay locked to semi and randomly halfway through the first game went full auto only, not sure what's wrong with it as the full auto option on the selector plate has been Dremeled out so you can't select full auto. There is a latch/clicker thing inside the gearbox which is supposed to reset the trigger after each shot which might have broken/gone wandering, needs further investigation. I've started to get the hang of 30+M shooting and I've just about got the hop and sights tuned so looking forward to getting it back on the field. I swapped out to the MP5K and got stuck in, do love the upgraded K a snappy trigger, fast rate of fire such a lovely piece of kit. Sig was an epic side arm as usual but with the DMR benched it didn't see a lot of action. New ExFog unit worked a treat and my eye pro didn't fog up at all but I need to make a couple of adjustments as it was getting uncomfortable towards the end where it was digging into my temples but this is the right solution for me for more stationary DMR game play. All in all a fun but frustrating day out.2 points -

Ngrs issue / stopped firing

So, I got pee’d off with the fact that I couldn’t figure it out, so off to Kingdom Of Airsoft it went…. A few things amounted to the problems I was experiencing It looks like I forgot to put back in the small washer/spacer that sits on top of the pinion gear, causing a bit of chewing So replacement gears fitted Tappet plate was apparently gubbed too, so replaced Previous owner had fitted Deans connection, and the solder was “questionable” But probably, the real main cause of my issue was down to me…. The battery wires come along, under the buffer tube, and there is very little space and a finnikety job to get them in under the castle nut Looks like I may have damaged the insulation, causing it to contact something metal 🤦🏻♂️ Its been away almost two months, and making its way back soon, in time for some winter use 🤞2 points -

Ok so far I'm really impressed by the new stock hop . Far more stable than the older VFC AR15 hops from the box2 points -
So after the disappointment of buying what I thought was a Cyma A4 and it being a WE AEG parts build I figured I'd just suck it up and buy one new Bought the last one in stock from Super5ives, it arrived with only one screw for the heat sink in the pistol grip which was a bit annoying but an easy fix at least. Now I know there's a reasonable priced PEQ replica the Peq-16 will be replaced ASAP 😂2 points

Converting from mini-Tamiya to Deans...
Gunboat Diplomat reacted to RostokMcSpoons for a topic
Hi ho! Well it's been a while but I'm expecting to go to a skirmish or CQB session for :checks notes: the second time this year, I think. And to celebrate this I went a bit bonkers and bought another gnu. Yay! I couldn't resist a nice little Cyma AK74SU that the previous owner anointed with Adidas stripes and some (no doubt) amusing pro-Ukraine Cyrillic text, from Action Hobbies boneyard I guess it's one of the older Cyma's, it's got the metal body but plastic handguard, and (damn it) mini Tamiya battery connector. All my stuff is Deans, so I've got the soldering iron out... I've done this job before but I think I made an educated guess and got lucky last time - this time I've got no batteries I can afford to bin, I don't want to trash my new gnu, and both wires are grey so I need help with which side of the tamiya connector is which, in the Cyma world. Please help an old man1 point -

After rough prices
HZR13 reacted to ButcherBill for a topic
As for prices... The rule of thumb is 60-70% of the current new price +/- depending on condition. Accessories don't seem to add much value so it'll be worth removing them & selling seperately, this often applies to extra mags too. Upgrades don't always add much either IMO unless they are premium items. Rattle canned rifs will often sell for less money unless it's exactly what the buyer is looking for which is unlikely. If you stick with collection only it'll take up more of your time as you can post packages in lots of shops with a post office counter & they're usually open early to late. Postage in my experience is usually between £5 to £20 depending on size/weight of the box so include that into your add, paypal fees G&S can be 5-10% read the PP T&C's. Obviously collection negates these costs but you might need to take less money as the buyer will be using their fuel & time.1 point -
It’s commonly known as ECBA - Enhanced Combat Body Armour. Was used in early days of Iraq and Afghanistan before being replaced with Osprey around 2006. The plates will be the main value in it1 point

I work 6 days a week sometimes 7 so not got the time or inclination to sort out posting stuff only for it to arrive broken or missing . After the amount of hassle and personal cost in the past i will not post anything I’m selling ever again1 point -
About 50p, I'll be generous and give you £1... Depends on condition, accessory brands etc but the general rule of thumb is 60 - 70% of everything retail. Some of the Tokyo Marui stuff may (Probably will) bring a bit more money purely because they're TM but again it depends on condition, if they've been modified internally etc That's going to most likely be a huge hinderance to sales and will also affect prices too sadly1 point

Just-Cos …. The insurance policy
ruskitseller reacted to Tommikka for a topic
In that sense ‘it works’ Anything works if the seller accepts it Another retailer as above (no longer trading) had a tick box for buyers to declare their intent to play airsoft at insured sites - at least that related to the actual defence of playing airsoft There is no legal requirement that defines how a defence qualifies (the UKARA is in line with the proposals that the airsoft industry raised during VCR bill consultation, though airsoft never made it into the VCRA itself but as an add on via Statutory Instrument - it is up to the seller to satisfy themself in a manner that they would be happy with if they were ever subject to a VCRA prosecution Those behind JustCos have actually produced prosecution evidence themselves1 point -

TBH the vest isn't worth as much as the plate IMO, I paid £39 for a bulk set of 10 with no plates. Pop it on fleabay on a 10 day auction & you'll get the best price people will pay. Because the plates are desirable for collectors/completests (a bit like me).1 point -

I've been doing a lot of reading and experimenting with different methods of carrying gear, and I would advise you also try different things to see what you like. What works for most people may not work for you, or it might. I've now got two belt kits that I tend to go for (well, three, but one is only for period loadouts!), and I only came to the conclusions I came to by experimenting with different styles and seeing what I liked and what I hated. One is a supplementary, lightweight belt kit. I can run it solo if I really want to and only if I'm using my m700s or SRS, but it's designed to supplement my plate carrier or chest rig so it will generally struggle if I run it solo. The other is an LBE setup with a harness. It's designed to run solo, with no chest rig or plate carrier and carries everything I need on it, with a backpack to supplement with more water, gas and BBs. I do need to revisit it to attach comms to it, as my radio pouch is currently on the back and I don't like that, and I need another PTT as my other two are firmly threaded into my chest rig and plate carrier... Hmmmmmm... What I will say though as a general warning, especially as a larger gentleman (I, too, suffer with it and just got back from a session of trying to sort that issue), you don't want to put too many mags on your front on your plate carrier. I use single stack mag pouches on my chest rig and plate carrier both, and use the belt to hold the extra mags to keep me at a fighting load, because I use GBBRs with 35rd/20rd magazines and I'm an immersion nerd (6 spare mags + 1 in the gun is a US standard load of magazines). If you double stack mags on your front, it's fine as long as you never go prone. Prone with a gut and double stacked mags sucks1 point

Loadout advice (belt mostly)
Lozart reacted to Punisher3990 for a topic
Hey all, So I decided to go with 3 pistol mags on the left, holster on the right, and moved the 2 utility pouches from the side of my PC to the back of the belt due to easier access I attended my first game today and the belt works amazingly as did all of my gear. Absolutely shattered but thank you all for your tips and advice!1 point -
