  1. Yes @superwok read the room. Nobody is going to help you so give it a rest or to put it bluntly, fLIP off YOU NAUGHT MAN, & STOP TRYING TO FIND WAYS TO GET AROUND THE LAW. Edit: I think it would be best for everyone if mods lock this thread

  2. I'm inclined to agree, Just-Cos has been proven to be a load of shite that can only go wrong eventually, with potential repercussions to every law abiding player, something none of us wants. On the basis that the majority of forum members have voiced opposition to the Just-Cos setup, I don't think there's any more productive discussion can be had, so im locking the thread. If anyone feels im wrong to do this, please pm me & we'll discuss it further.

  3. You can play 3 games with a registered site and get a UKARA defence or stick with one site that does its own defence after similar qualifying criteria for UKARA. Considering the instances of open-carrying cosplayers in the past ~18 months, I don't imagine a forum with regular players will want any further part in enabling a lack of common sense that jeopardises their ability to buy a RIF and act responsibly with it.

  4. No. Just cos is a bullshit defence which only exists to take money from stupid people.

  5. It takes a special kind of partner to agree to such things. Also make sure you trim your nails first?

  7. Any retailer that accepts JustCos is doing so on a ‘nudge nudge wink wink’ basis, and as a sales offence under the VCRA lies with the seller and faces a number of thousands of pounds fine (potentially also prison time) - it’s unlikely (I am not aware of any VCRA sales prosecution), but a bit stupid Cosplay as a hobby is not covered by Ang VCRA defence, and no Comicon, nor other related event in the UK permits cosplayers to carry RIFs (Even the event quoted as partnering with JustCos banned RIFs) Cosplay as a profession would align with the VCRAs theatrical defence - and a professional cosplayer will carry appropriate Public Liability insurance Cosplay societies may fall within the theatrical defence, and when attending a Comicon as featured guests ‘performing’ to the public may fall under different criteria / rules which may permit RIFs JustCos is a load of bollocks, made up as an excuse by one retailer I tested it out by buying JustCos membership then asking the awkward questions. I was eventually refunded for being “too stupid” by asking for details of the cover instead of just using it as a fake ‘defence’ to purchase a RIF

  8. It's worth remembering that there's the possibility that deliberate attempts to get around the vcra could get our defence removed completely. Our defence was given on the basis that the airsoft community would be self policing

  9. Non-airsoft playing cosplayers who visit a players' forum and want support to circumvent the laws and regulations around purchasing a RIF with no regard for the potential fall out that could happen and make things more difficult for actual players. The other thing that grinds my gears is the self-importance such people show when they say they don't care about people's opposition, nor do they appreciate you can't always get what you want in life. Even if your circumstances are difficult, there isn't always room for exceptions.

  10. Is this not the same bloke who started this thread in the first place and got pissy with people ?

  11. Gotta agree, & the only retailer that accepts it know they've got you over a barrel, pay their prices or no gnus for you. Yep ukara takes a bit more effort, & cost, but ultimately if you've got a site close to you, & possibly a mate to lend you a gun, the costs can be kept very low & recouped easily by increasing the buying options, both in the uk & abroad. Obviously there are others ways to prove entitlement to a defence, I haven't had ukara for years but get by.

  15. If only there was a section of this website that had... I don't know... an area where you can post an advert for a replica you're looking to buy... Wouldn't that be great?!

  16. Not exactly hard to find. Google instantly brings up 5+ suppliers with them in stock.

  20. Welcome. The posts above have pretty much covered everything but I'll add this. Gloves are recommended as a shit to the knuckles will bloody hurt. Also when on site don't be afraid to ask people about their kit or guns you like the look of, most players are more than happy to show off and talk about their stuff (getting them to stop is probably harder) and will probably let you fire off a few shots if you ask nicely.

  21. It's honestly not a bad idea. They'll be very generic but not a bad way to get yourself started as you'll more than likely have some sort of M4 derivative for your rental gun. Most sites that are UKARA registered advertise the fact as it's a good selling point for them to lock you in for at least 3 games. If you go to the Airsoft Plantation website that Colin recommended, it shows it's UKARA registered at the bottom of the page. That's a common trait to look out for.

  22. Hey guys thank you both for your replies. In response to Galvatron, would you recommend buying a cheap chest rig to help manage with loads and kit before even playing or hold out until trying Airsoft? Also thank you for all the other advice concerning eye wear and boots ( I do have crap ankles ?) And Colin, I'm near Braintree and I do drive. Just trying to find something to get into. Lost touch with my old hobbies and this is one that has always interested me ☺️ Also how do you know which sites hold ukara so you can get signed off? Sorry and thanks again guys!

  23. Was at Section 8 last week with some guns I got from the Midlands Airsoft Fair among the usual loadout. Ran the S&T Lee-Enfield during the warmup, turns out the extractor(?) on the bolt was loose enough to come off and caused a serious jam. Very grateful to the tech guys who got it working again. At least I had a charged battery for my Aug, which worked brilliantly for a first run. Managed to get a teammate in the ear when he crossed as I was shooting.? On the good side, the pistols worked fine, though the Vorsk Defender safety seems to have jammed in the off position.

  24. Went today to rift Blackstone cqb with a small group of 4. What can I can, such a great set up they have there and very well managed by the staff. If you haven't been before it's basically a whole town build inside a storage warehouse fully complete with loads of static furnishings to make it look genuine. It was my first game with my new vfc hk416a5 and got to say I love this gun for sure, was the perfect main weapon for this environment. First game of the day was a capture the flag game, one team started upstairs sporn and other team in the down stairs sporn, 4 flags to capture, I was on blue team, first run of this game was a draw and then after 20min a quick change around and start from the other sporn, unfortunately we lost this round with just 1 flag to 3 red flags. This site it's self has so much potential and so many opportunities for different scenarios, especially with their full light and sound control of the area so they can make it look day light then next game night time, throw in some appropriate sound effects like dogs barking, planes flying overhead, lightning sounds and lighting. Really made the game for me. Would fully recommend this site to any cqb nuts.

  29. Last one that did that to me got bad feedback, not sure if the rules allow that but thought "f#ck it, people need to know what kinda person you are". If they can't be trusted in a sale, odds on they're cheating cnuts on the field too ?

  30. @superwok I know you got it sorted via the just-cos route, however did you not try to ask any retailers if any other forms of defence were acceptable? You've got 110 posts on this forum, have been a member for 5 years, visit regular and have 100% feedback, that should be enough to confirm. As @Dan Robinson also states, social media posts / photos also another good. The IT ex-colleague of mine who's still looking at a defense system (has a fair bit of it built) was thinking about putting in supporting material for defence, how it will work in the system I don't know but seems a legit idea.

  31. For my 5 pence worth, although the current system it could be argued isn’t the best it is something and it’s recognised. When I was reenacting I had all the insurances and memberships but I could only ever buy rifs that corresponded to the time period I was portraying. My quite brutal answer would be if you can’t make time to play frequently then maybe Airsoft isn’t for you.
