Time to bring this thread back from the dead As a watchmaker I'm always working on other people's beloved luxury time peices so over the last two months I have launched my own micro brand "Armstrong" I have been using pocket watch movements, for me they are a tad easier to work on and can be housed into wrist watch cases I have been stripping each one down as they come in, cleaning all the parts in my Elma cleaning machine and putting the movements back together, applying the correct oils in all the places that need them and then regulation them on my machine, rather then just grabbing a movement and throwing it in a case I don't quite trust the origins of the cheapest labour of who puts them together and what random oil they use so rebuilding a movement takes me around 4 hours I have also been customising the dials with my own logo, choosing a case I most like the look of and have been pairing them up with a choice of 22mm bison straps Being a big movement the power reserve is 46 hours between winds and it isn't an automatic movement but rather a manual one hence the need for winding I've been making these in small batches to sell to friends but if anyone is at all interested please drop me a message, I sell them for £135 with your choice of dial and strap color6 points -

O M G !!! if I may borrow the current vernacular , the CO2 mag was an absolute scream to use. Played 4 games today , 3 of them with the 249 and the 2 88g bulbs lasted the three games . I gassed out with about 5 minutes to go in the last one. Wasn't holding back either, much longer bursts then when I use the green gas mag. I recon I went through about 1500 rounds in total. If i use the co2 regularly I'll need more BB mags as I did run out in one game due to longer bursts and playing an offensive game. Otherwise , the range on the thing continues to amaze me , and the sound ! They'll ban 'em eventually 'cos they are too much fun !2 points

G&G LevAR 15
Rogerborg and one other reacted to HuttArmouries for a topic
So just saw this from airsoft world ATTENTION ALL G&G LEVAR OWNERS! THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH YOUR RIFLE. It has come to our attention that there is a serious design flaw in the G&G LevAR rifles - both sizes. The pistol grip is breaking and disconnecting the gas line that travels from the gas tank within the pistol grip and into the main receiver. If gassed and under pressure, this can happen with an explosive release of the pressure, so please DO NOT use or mess about with your rifle. We were notified two days ago of a customers rifle 'exploding' as it was lifted from its box immediately after delivery. As we have not yet received that rifle back, we were not sure what had caused this failure and were hoping that it had been damaged in transit by the delivery courier. Around 5 mins ago, we've had two customers at the same airsoft site with the exact same failure. First use of the rifle and they both failed after a small impact. All three of these were the LONG 15" version but the grip is the same on the shorter 7" and although the shorty doesn't have the associated weight and leveraged forces of having the full stock and longer top receiver, there is still a risk of the same thing happening if you impact it hard enough. One rifle was propped on its stock and slid sideways, landing flat on the ground. The other was accidentally dropped to the ground from waist height whilst standing in the safe zone. Both pistol grips shattered and instantly released the gas as the line connection disconnected. Please bear with us as we are not open again until Tuesday (we have always been shut on Mondays) and we will contact YOU. So please do not start sending us emails, texts and everything else you want to throw at us, including the LevAR's ? We cannot get hold of G&G until Monday, and although I'm fairly sure they must already know about this failure we need to discuss a solution in order to resolve this quickly. PLEASE PASS THIS POST ON TO EVERYONE YOU CAN **This is a TOY, not a real firearm!**2 points -
G&G LevAR 15
John_W reacted to Airsoft World for a topic
For the record: There are other LevAR rifles that have had the same issue, so it’s not restricted to the one dealer and only one of the three rifles that ‘exploded’ was two tone painted. We rarely dismantle guns for two toning as was the case with this one. So just to clarify; none of the three rifles we sold were tampered with or altered in any way, other than one, which was simply masked and spray painted. We also received a response from G&G later today (Sunday) telling us that they knew of this issue last week. They also asked us to remove our Facebook post, which we obviously refused to do. So, have a think about what’s happened here please as these are the facts, which is very important.1 point -

The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread
Tactical Pith Helmet reacted to Colin Allen for a topic
Today's airsoft adventure was a trip to the second game day at the new Dragon's Lair site in Essex; the lad and I were accompanied by his girlfriend Charlie, who is an accomplished real steel shooter. Around 55 people were present, fewer than two weeks ago but this may have been down to it being peak holiday season. The first game was a simple domination; the team that had the village flag up at the end would win. We started from the back of the end compound, which is definitely not the best place to start this game. Along with a group of team mates, I set off into the woods on the ridge to our left, intending to prevent the enemy outflanking our central push and, if possible, push them back and outflank theirs. We had a cracking fight in the woods and pushed them back almost to their start point; however, this had no impact whatever on the outcome of the game as the blue team quickly got their flag up and held on to it until the end. After a short break to reload and take on fluids (it was very hot), the game was reversed; a small group of us set off into the same woods, where we pushed forward past the village. There I encountered Charlie, whose stalking skills had come to the fore; she was amazingly still, moving just enough to engage new targets, which she rapidly despatched. We were soon joined by the lad and held our position until Charlie was hit by a wonderfully sneaky fellow who had flanked round us; the lad and I avenged her! The game ended with our flag up in the village. After another very necessary break, we played Hamburger Hill. We defended the ridge nearest the safe zone with three lives while the attackers had to raise their flag on the hut on the summit. The three of us took up position in a rather nice position among bushes under a low, spreading tree and engaged several attackers who we sent back to regen on a marshal positioned behind their team. I was then shot in the back; clearly the attackers had turned our left flank, although this seemed odd as one of our players was still in position there. After crawling out of the undergrowth I encountered two of our younger players and none of the enemy; when I asked them if they had just shot me, they told me that they had because they thought I was the enemy. I took up another position behind a bush about 5m further back. After potting a few attackers, I was hit by some shots from my right flank; assuming that the enemy had pushed up the main path up the ridge, I stood up to move back to my final position only for one of my own team to apologise for shooting me. This seemed to be becoming a habit. On the summit, I positioned myself behind a barricade, where I held out for a while until we were overrun. After lunch, Hamburger Hill was reversed. We struggled up the hill in the heat and pushed the enemy back; when I reached the summit, I witnessed the lad making a brilliant and successful run to raise the flag. Unfortunately, our time was exactly one minute longer than that of the blues. After taking on more water, we returned to the valley. As the attackers, we had to raise our flag at each of the following: the camo net building, the centre compound, and the end compound; one a flag was raised, that became our regen. We had infinite regens while the defenders had one life at each structure. The slopes on either side were out of play, so this was played straight down the valley. We quickly raised our flag at the camo net building and moved on the the main compound, which could only be entered by one door, which unsurprisingly proved to be a bit of a bottleneck. However, our assault team pushed through, took the compound and attacked the final one, where the flag was eventually raised. After another short break, during which a player was sent home for having a mag in his gun in the safe zone despite explicit warnings in the morning briefing, the game was turned around. In the first stage, we prevented the enemy getting the camo net building flag up for quite a long time; after potting loads of attackers, I was hit on a finger, which was the only exposed part of me. Defending the middle compound from a position in the back right corner, which covered the entrance, I was again hit after taking out a number of attackers. In the rear compound, I took up a forward position in a corridor at 90 degrees to the entrance, while two other colleagues covered it from close up. They did a great job of smiting attackers and preventing them breaking in until they were both eventually hit. Valhalla would welcome them as true heroes; Romans would laud their defence as being akin to that of Horatius Cocles. After that, I potted everyone who tried to storm the entrance and those who tried to flank it. The game ended when the attackers ran out of time. It was a very good, albeit very hot, day of airsoft which was well marshalled, well organised and well played by both teams. Charlie really enjoyed her second day of airsoft. So here it is, still in need of cable management and the grip needs to be installed but feeling good none the less. I aim to make this one a DMR, in as much as one can do in airsoft, and so will be doing my best to source the parts that you guys have recommended. I'll shoot it a bit first for fun and then start the upgrades as soon as possible. Next step will be paint followed by some killflashes and a fair amount of tape for the shiny bits.1 point -

Whats the general rule of thumb when it comes to fps/J?
Nick G reacted to Cannonfodder for a topic
There's no universal power limit for all cqb sites but they're all (at least the ones I've played at) between 330 and 350 fps (with a .2) and many have a weight limit, usually .25 but some go up to .28. As with most things it's best to check with the specific site you're going to play at Unfortunately there's no such thing as "one gun to rule them all" and using the same gun for cqb and outdoors will usually end in making compromises between the two. For cqb I often don't bother taking a rifle. I find that no full auto being allowed takes away a big advantage AEGs have and the smaller size of a pistol helps when moving through tight spaces. The pistol (or any gbb) also has the advantage of a faster trigger response, something which is invaluable when targets may only present themselves for fractions of a second1 point -

Just two?1 point -
Not a stupid question at all. As above, set it up for 1J and you'll be sweet for pretty much everywhere. I'd use heavier ammo and adjust the hop for outdoors games though. Why not have two guns though?1 point
-
I play in & out, .25's mean I'm within the limit for my CQB site while also being fine outdoors as long as it's not blowing a hoolie. As has been said, 1J's a good place to be. Set your sights up for outdoors and you'll be fine when using them indoors, yeah they'll be a smidge off, but we're talking airsoft tolerances here, your pew probably wasn't that accurate in the first place (apologies if yours does actually shoot like a LaZeR).1 point
-
Already ahead of you, I just didn't want to take the conversation away from the wheel issue. I'm also looking at making a new POM rotary with slightly better tolerances You're welcome1 point
-
The wheel on the ZCI rotary isn't the greatest design, so much so I'm looking to get my own one molded that's a little smaller and with better notches so you can at least count the turns etc. As for your problem maybe take the upper off, turn upside-down, fit the rotary and barrel and try to see where the wheel is rubbing. A customer did mention this before I remember and it was the gearbox case.1 point

Disappointing day for me at AWA Herts. Hadn't been before but thought I'd give it a whirl. It was their 'Big Skirm' where they run the whole site. In the morning there was a vague objective of 'collect some things from around the site' but the brief didn't say where they were, offer us any maps or suggest what the other team might be doing. The result was just some vague bumbling around an incredibly overgrown woodland, where I saw three or four players from the other team at most and the one chap I did hit didn't take it. At no point did we know how we were doing but we did know the result was supposed to influence the afternoon in someway (although it was never mentioned ever again). After lunch it was a giant two+ hour fall back game, again with no real objective other than either attack (reds) or defend (greens). I called it quits a few fallbacks early as I got smashed in the face with the hardest airsoft hit I've ever had. I was lying a fair way back across open ground, so it hit me with a lot of force from a decent distance (50m+). I mentioned it to the marshal and he replied "Oh yeah the other team has lots of regulars who run DMRs. I bet I can guess who it was. We call his gun the C*ntcannon." Lovely! Hard to know if it was outright shiftyness, or someone taking advantage of the fact they chrono on FPS, not joules but it's the first time I've had cause to think someone was actually using a hot RIF. Needless to say, won't be returning...0 points
