so lockdown has spawned some pretty serious threads so maybe we should balance it out with something totally stupid.

so the king is dead, long live the king- you.

you are now the god-king of elbonia, your wish is your people's command. mud exports are proving profitable and your resources are practically limitless, your people loved the previous king for bringing such prosperity and will follow your counsel.

so what do you do for airsoft when you can do what you like?

the law is your word so you wanna change fps limits? fine

you wanna clear out an active power station to play cqb? just order the workers to leave

you wanna do a milsim with real civilians? well go right ahead

wanna give all your airsoft buddies solid gold systemas to play with? no problem.

wanna hire a marshall for every player? sure

wanna throw cheaters in the gulag? go for it

the only limits are what is physically possible (ie no magic), and your imagination.

so what would you do with airsoft in your country? if you want a bonus challenge, then the underling you assign to carry out your commands is a traitor and wants to subtly ruin your plans- what does he do to foil you?

edit: should clarify that while elbonia isn't a large country but it does have a lot of varied terrain and somewhat extreme seasonal weather variation, so you should be able to get a reasonable facsimile of any region you like from dry desert to snow capped mountains.

fill an empty shopping mall with peasants dressed as zombies

if you are dumb enough to get caught by them they get to beat you

.40s in every gun spitting out 35rps and the civilians have no protection

if they survive 1 round with both eyes intact and all their teeth they get to go home

the underling switched out all the bbs for cheap yellow .12 chinese shite

1. Ban KM from all airsoft.

2. A dedicated prime time airsoft TV show.

3. 400FPS site limits. No minimum engagement.

4. Compulsory full face protection and the complete legalisation of headshots.

5. Sites open every evening, all day every weekend. None of this first and third Sunday of the month bollocks.

You want KM to be banned from all airsoft sites, yet list the the two things he strongly advocates (and the most contentious points) as something you're also for?

I would like to see more staff at airsoft sites, akin to linesman at a football match. Walking around checking on both sides of a firefight, in an attempt to put an end to squabbling.

The fact the man is a tosser with an inferiority complex doesn’t invalidate that headshots are completely legitimate if all you can see is a head pop up through a window.

As far as I can see it KM’s main advocacy is for cheat calling. Don’t compare me to KM, we will fall out very swiftly.

so for my version, i'm thinking big, super big.

a giant milsim, draft in an aircraft carrier from the navy and take over a couple of coastal cities.

the civilian populations of the cities are all given eyepro and chronographs and aside from checking players nearby for cheating they're to go about their daily business unless they wish to interact with the players. any civilian owned firearms in the game area are replaced with airsoft equivalents that may be taken and used by players, any damage to civilians personal property (broken doors/windows, items taken by players etc) will be replaced after the event.

the game mode is a counter insurgency type deal, the opfor team gets to start in the mountains nearby and players can commandeer whatever they want from the local populace (eg rock up to a farm and nick the farmers pickup to make a technical)

blufor gets to start on the aircraft carrier and can use the carriers comms, boats and helicopters for transport (which will be operated by elbonian military personell to ensure safety)

blufor's job is to find and destroy opfor, opfor's job is to survive as long as possible and inflict as much damage to blufor as possible using any techniques they see fit.

fps limits are based on weapon class:

pistol calibers- 0.75j no minimum engagement distance for semi or full auto

intermediate rifle calibers- 1.3j, semi in buildings but otherwise basically uk rules

full power rifle calibers- 2.3j with 20m MED or 30m for support guns

extra high power calibers- 3.5j with a 40m med (eg barrets, m2's etc)

no rof limit but this will be somewhat controlled by the ammo limit.

all magazine capacities are limited to their real-world counterparts, no limit on the number of magazines a player can carry. extra loose ammunition may be carried but dummy rounds are given on a per-round basis. eg if you're happy to carry around a 250 round belt of 5.56 you get to carry 250 bb's to reload your m4 mags,  you are only permitted to drop the dummy ammo when also dropping/firing the respective amount of bb's.

all ammo will be geoffs .48g bb's which be supplied at the event (as this is known ahead of time it's the players responsibility to ensure their gnu can lift that weight)

explosives are handled by physical effect or 5m radius eg a pea grenade kills' everyone in a 5m radius and anyone outside who gets struck by a pea. a supply of TAG grenades (both thrown and launched) will be provided to both sides at the start of the game. hard cover does count although breakables such as doors/windows do not count.

protective equipment is down to the players discretion- ie if they don't want to wear face protection then they must also accept the risk of personal injury.

medic rules are single hit revives by assigned medics- only medics can revive players and each player can only be revived once. players cannot move on their own once hit but can be carried by other players to a medic. medics cannot heal each other (so they will be a prime target)

deaths are permanent- elbonian military personell acting as marshalls will occasionally sweep and escort "dead" players from the field replacing them with mannequins. players are required to leave their equipment (guns, webbing, ammo etc) with the mannequins. mannequins may be cleared by the civilian populace during quiet periods. any subsequent damage or loss of players equipment is considered part of the game (ie players know they might lose their toys). once off the field "dead" players may return home or stay and watch the event, if a player willingly quits the game (due to fatigue, personal life commitments etc) then a "dead" player may re-enter to replace them if they so desire on a first-out first-in basis.

the event will be free to enter as a player, however prospective players must pass a lie detector asking them if they intend to cheat during the event, that they understand the rules and accept the potential risks.

intentional cheating during the event will, if caught (remember there will be more marshalls than players with every civilian acting as such), result in immediate and permanent banishment (ie they will never step foot on elbonian soil again)

i'm sure there are a lot of plot holes i've missed, but you get the general idea :P

edit: unfortunately my traitorous underling who i put in charge of organising and managing this event forgot to tell any of the civilians that the event wasnt real so they spent the first few days terrified of all these terrorist looking blokes running around nicking their stuff and threatening to shoot them.

Sniper towers manned by Marshalls armed with real rifles with orders to plug any cheaters they see. Other than that higher fps limits, full legalisation of pyro and mortars and kicking all inhabitants out of their town for the weekend for large scale games.

I'd certainly sign up for Adolf Hamster's game.  I'd borrow my lads webbing mind...

I think that I would nick the basic idea, but locate the game/Elbonia in West Africa somewhere around the equator.  A WWI battleship  would shell the bush sporadically in a random manner as an added inducement to complete terror/realism.  It would be an added nod to Conrad's Heart of Darkness, as would the Hueys flying overhead playing Creedence Clearwater Revival LPs via massive speakers.  Only G3s, FALs, AKs and AR10s allowed for battle rifles.   Extra points awarded for rocking short shorts in Rhodesian camo.

I think a smattering of bush dwelling PTSD afflicted PMCs as NCOs would be a bonus.  Thousand yard stare wielding alcoholics who would make players on their toes by carrying live bladed knives that the constantly finger whilst emitting a high pitched nervous laugh.

Final objective for Blufor would be to winkle the remaining Opfor from a mine complex dug by untrained locals using any old timber for props.  It would be the only airsoft game with points given posthumously in some cases, at least as far as I know.

The winning team gets to keep whatever the mine produces, although if its radium I'm not sure that sticking it in your lunchbox would really do the job health and safety wise.

Normal uk average power limits/meds/rules. All public spaces are the airsoft field including shops. As soon as you leave the house you are in game. Your house is your regen. You have to create your own allegiances with people. Mid week kit choice is up to you. Friday is pistol/shotgun, Saturdays is spring pistols only and Sundays are strictly old west theme single action only.

All goontubers and wannabe airsoft "celebrities" are forced to use £5 market place springers and play in just their pants

Cheats would be sent to a gulag for life where they would be put to work building new sites. Of course being in said gulag would mean they never actually get to play on their handy work

I'd also set up some games where all players are issued their rifs which perform the same. This would place more emphasis on shooting skills and fieldcraft

As for the underling, we'll they'd probably hand out paintball kit

Skip that. Tbh I went a western event at the national paintball field last year run by fireball, in their "westworld" section.

Honestly best game day I've ever had.

A full village set up somewhere, say like tumbleweed or valentine from RDR, and marshals as non combatants would make me happy.

If we've a spare million quid...

BORING ! Far to normal and practical !

TAG rounds will be free at all game sites so instead of the eternally disappointing moscarts we have to put up with due to the cost of them we can all use TAG shotgun rounds Instead , plus none of those boring MK5’s types that go ‘phut !’ When you lob them in to a room , we can use proper biiigggg badda booms the kind that leave you looking like a stunned mullet if you ain’t got hearing protection on ! and smokes that give you day-glow snot for a week !  😈

For a big game I'd take a city and do a modern revolution scenario. There'd be an authoritarian military police force with armoured vehicles and checkpoints and like Adolf suggested all civilians would have eye pro and chronos. A phone app would give each player locations of objectives and friendly forces as well as requests for help and other intel.

All security players have regular patrols and FOBs that they can rearm and respawn from. The resistance players have safehouses and from there can launch guerilla attacks, blending in with civilians to get close and break contact. They also get access to satchel charges, IEDs and car bombs whereas the security forces only get smoke and "tear gas" grenades to reduce civilian casualties.

There are no medics. If you go down your team has to retrieve you and get you back to a safehouse or FOB. If you go down the other team has the opportunity to capture you and bring you to a base where they interrogate you and gain a piece of intel which is given by the app. When a side has enough intel they can attack a base and free any teammates held there. At the end of the event the team with the most intel will attack the other teams main base in a final climactic battle.

certainly elbonia has more than enough cash lying around.

but in the real world i agree it would also be kinda fun. wonder if the yanks have something like that going on same as they do for their cowboy action shooting.

neither, it has a pretty extensive coastline with some small islands in its territorial waters but its borders stretch quite far in-land in some places (read: if you want an island or a mountain range to play with it has both)

You lost me with that.  I had to Google The Line.   I don't game, so I was unfamiliar with it, but the premise looks cool for certain.  Cheers for leading me to it.

I had to watch my lad play COD etc to really understand what some of the filmsim games were trying to emulate tbh.

I was thinking more of the original book and film(s) themselves.  The atmosphere that Conrad creates is one of stifling fear and trepidation, the prize is always externally noble but flawed when examined.  I suppose, given the budget, I fancy sticking us into a truly challenging environment, and a totally foreign culture.  Conradian metaphysical pondering and airsoft all in one would be a disorienting and exciting game.   A game built around the battles in Nostromo would be amazing - separatists versus a rag tag army of conscripts and fanatical nationalist leaders.  In fact, now that I think of it, I realise that that is what I was thinking of when nicking your idea!

The spec ops angle could go beside an infantry assault.  I like the idea of anything goes, with local command taking decisions and objectives changing as the game progresses over a huge playing area.

If you play US in Namsoft games, the ambushes do get your adrenaline going.  I'd like the same on a bigger scale, with vehicles etc, and Africa always gets you closer to raw life.  I would love to play in proper jungle to be sure.

it's a massive troll if you don't know what you're in for, basically a half and half mix between the heart of darkness and a ptsd simulator.

if you ever play through it, and you need someone to talk to about "that room" just let me know.....
