JellyBelly
This may soumd like a stupid question but what can happen if you wanted to buy a second hand gun off say someone on here? Would you need to have a UKARA number etc?... what I'm getting at is, is there some sort of rules when buying second hand? Cheers Phil
Aunty Pasty
The responsible seller should be asking for you to present a UKARA number before the sale.
padraigthesniper
Depends on what they are selling (two tone or not) and the seller. I highly doubt though unless you sell something to someone underage there would be any issues. Main thing with second hand sales is making sure you get a fair deal lol some people be selling second hand guns for next level prices madness. Root Admin proffrink Posted April 21, 2016 Root Admin Share Posted April 21, 2016 It's important to remember that the liability is on the seller, not the buyer. A lot will ask for a UKARA number if you're new to that particular forum, but many won't.
Head Moderator Jedi_Master Posted April 21, 2016 Head Moderator Share Posted April 21, 2016 There is a sticky (pinned) post "READ FIRST - Rules" http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/15171-read-first-rules/ which contain forum rules for sales and transaction advice. UKARA is one method to check. Be aware that not everyone has it; I currently only have a site membership number as my valid defence. However, there are forum members that I have met and either played alongside or against at a skirmish so have proved they are bona fide airsofters, so I would not need to check them. JellyBelly
I only ask as I was thinking about it last night. What's to stop a newbie like myself with no UKARA (working on it atm) going onto a forum like this and trying to buy a second hand gun thinking that you don't need to do anything. I myself wouldn't buy a airsoft gun knowing full well I don't meet the right criteria, I wouldn't want to ruin the game for myself or anyone else knowing I don't have the right things in place. Thanks for clarifying my question tho that I sort of knew the answer to. Haha
Guest PT247
we'd not sell to a new member without them proving they have a defence.

Andy Mc
ahh, good post and answers! I was just thinking the same thing I have played a few games just not applied for a defense (UKARA) but am interested in purchasing a gun.. so guess apply for defense first
Guest PT247
it is not like it takes long or much effort to register with UKARA, I get folk don't like to wait for stuff but 2 and a bit months is no time at all if you are taking up the sport, especially if you only play the minimum amount of games in that time it is utterly no hardship to wait. B.S
Wish UKARA was available at 16... I can understand why, I can think of a few people nowhere near responsible enough to have a RIF who are 16... It sucks for those of us who are though.

Imho you should have to be over 18 to buy an IF and under 18's can have a RIF as long as they are approved by their site which will be done on a 6 month basis any misuse should be reported to this site then the approval would be revoked. But I'm biased, young and according to law irresponsible

And I'm not sure if me paying him to buy it counts as him buying it or not :/ Plus the UKARA Would be a hassle. well in context with the whole post you made that makes utterly no sense. Yeah, I got very confused XD

But, if you pay him back for it, then it's a problem (legally) as he's using his Defence to buy it on your behalf.
Supporters Sitting Duck Posted April 21, 2016 Supporters Share Posted April 21, 2016 18 yrs old to purchase either RIF or IF 18 yrs old to buy or use pyro's Though some site's may and I say may allow you to use BFG's but not buy blanks Gun can be gifted but not bought by u18 Think there are other bits n bobs perhaps but soz that is wat it is as 18 yrs old equates to adult Yet you are at age of consent @ 16 but can't watch porn until 18 - I don't make the rules so don't blame me if life doesn't always seem 100% fair I'd love to be 16 again
