  1. Hi, Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this. My son and I have a few days free and were wondering if anyone knows of any Airsoft event happening in the UK on the 6-7th April. We've played a number of woodland battles and although very much still Noobs fancy trying something on a bigger scale. Maybe a mix of Urban and Woodland, village, factory. Is there anything going on that might suit us? Thanks
  2. All i see is you explaining that joule creep is a thing that exists. Now granted that is a cut above many sites but that's more an indictment of how low the bar is than anything else. What i don't see is why you've chosen to use a lower energy limit and chrono on 0.2's, rather than use the players in-game weight, the weight that they'll actually be firing at their fellow humans. The purpose after all is to ensure safety and fairness of gameplay. Yes for a jc susceptible gun you will expect to see it firing below the limit when using a lighter weight than it's been setup for but your scheme doesnt account that every pew is different. the joule creep on a speedsofter spec m4 with a barrel length measured in microns, is not going to be doing the same thing as a full length dragonuv. Depending on this your method means any hpa is either going to be disadvantaged because it doesnt creep enough to match its aeg brethren, or creep too much leaving the aeg players disadvantaged. To say nothing of the gbbr players who, intentionally or not, could be laying the smack down on their fellow players. So that begs the question- why choose this route? To the external observer, the most likely reason it's because it's easier to implement than to take the 10 minutes or so making a strip of paper with the relevant fps equivalent limit for each common bb weight, tape it to the chrono, and explain to the staff that they need to match number a with number b. And that leads to the unfortunate implication, which imo is more important, that other aspects of site management are treated with equal apathy. Now this isn't a guarantee that the average game day isn't a fun time for all involved but it does imply that when a group of bad apples picks that day to roll up that it won't be dealt with effectively. Now that does sound bad, but please don't take it as me trying to insult you or the site, your policy whilst erroneous at least sounds like it's coming from the noble intention of wanting to do things properly. So why not take this as an opportunity to improve rather than dig in defensively? After all we all want the same thing- good sites with effective rules where you can rely on having a fun time.
  3. You haven't explained anything you'vepasted a nothing burger. You've dodged ducked dived and dipped. Why have you come to the number you have come to? Why have you not (unless I've missed something) not restricted GBBRs?
  4. This is an airsoft site. Why would you want to show us anything other than airsoft guns?
  5. Have you ever ordered anything rif flavoured from 18A? I've had my eyes on the E&C glocks as they're metal slide, have full trades and apparently have steel internals - and for the absolute pittance they are on 18A I was wondering if there's a catch - either tax isn't included in the price, or shipping is a pain, or there's some sort of customs charges etc Any info would be appreciated! Lots of good stuff on there but I've noticed as you add weight the shipping price goes up pretty steeply so multiple seperate orders might end up cheaper than one big one
  6. Back when I first got into airsoft about 15 years ago, I used to play at a site called Ironfoot Airsoft on a farm in Bude deepest darkest Cornwall, the chap who ran that site also had a store and claimed to be the chap who made/ran the UKARA database. One day in an act of desperation I needed to buy a new gun urgently out of hours as heading off for a game the next day, gave him a call and asked if I could come collect from his store that evening. Had a cuppa in his farm house whilst he looked me up on the almighty UKARA database, which was an excel spreadsheet on his kitchen lovely beige Windows 98 looking tower PC that anyone who went to school in the 90s would recognise. Ironfoot seems to no longer exist, cant find anything on the web about them beyond a few mentions of them in old airsoft forums of ye olde days. No idea what happened to them or the chap running it. He was fairly old back then, may no longer be with us. Looking on google maps at the postcode, I can see the milking barns we used to use as a CQB arena are still there but the farmhouse itself seems to have been demolished.
  7. Hate to revive such an old thread, but how did you get your ZCI plastic hop to play nice? I just got your average macaron/zci plastic today (also from AK2M4 lol) and while I've managed to test perfectly fine and get good results, I can't get anything in when it comes to full assembly. Even with just the two metal rods that guide the UTR branded bolt (with no springs, nor the bolt) it prevents me from getting it in as it's getting stuck on something, even after pushing the hop into place like you mentioned. Did you do some fitment?
  8. Never seen anything in writing but considering UKARA has to be renewed annually with in 12 months would seem the max.
  9. I don't assume anything, by your own admission researching a seller is extra effort & you'd rather go to a retailer, a as I previously said, your money, your choice. The point being discussed, that many don't agree with, understandably, is the defence of cosplay has little bearing on airsoft, open to abuse by non airsofters, which in turn puts everything at risk for the genuine players. I sympathise with your situation, I too provide 24/7 care, literally day & night, to a relative, unpaid I should add, who is disabled & has dementia. Add to that I've been receiving cancer treatment since 2021, & severe orthopaedic issues mean I currently can't climb or descend a flight of stairs unaided, so I know exactly how hard it can be to attend games, or even cope with getting around some sites. (I'm determined to not let the health crap force me to quit) Cosplay would have been piss easy for me to use to buy rifs, but I don't agree with it for Airsoft rifs for all the reasons previously mentioned, maybe cosplayers and reenactors should have been made to go down the route of deacts or similar, in order to not "muddy the waters" for airsofters. & as has been mentioned, maybe people like you & I, who find themselves in difficult personal situations should have more flexible options for attaining a ukara defence. I'll put this out there as a general question, for example has anyone ever approached a site where they've started playing, but for whatever reason have had a protracted break between games, & asked the site to honour the previous games & make an allowance for the time away ?, allowing players get ukara approval.
  10. To import you will need a defence, although most overseas shop probably don't accept anything other than UKARA to avoid problems There is also the problem of customs, they are (probably) used to checking UKARA but not any other types of defence

  12. It finally arrived from China and I’ve setup a makeshift shooting range in the attic. I’ve used a Gusto box for the target with a small window in the hope that it would catch the bbs but you would need something a lot deeper than that. The BBs were bouncing back everywhere. The actual device looks solid. The front seems metal or a very sturdy plastic. The app is a bit limited. It basically just offers two modes - sequential and random. With sequential all targets pop up at once and they stay down until you have hit all or you have random mode where the targets pop up randomly (but not with a random delay). The added light is nice. We’ve switched off the lights and did some shooting. I think the app is letting the target down a bit. It should have random start delays with a beep when it starts and it should have an optional random delay with bringing up the targets (in random mode). I’ve added a close up of the target after about 50-70 hits. You can see some small dents but I recon the target will last a while. You can by replacement targets for it or you could make them yourself. They just screw into the hinge. I guess you could make the target smaller if you want. The target taught me a few things so far I am rubbish at shooting pistols (only tried with pistols so far) Fiber optic iron sights don’t do anything when it is really dark (time to buy a red dot for my aap 😉 The target needs to be recessed a lot further to catch more BBs. One target is not enough, you will need at least 3 to make it more fun (in random mode) BBs don’t survive hitting metal things, I’ve had a lot of shattered BBs lying around. Always wear Eyepro! They will come back to you but not with force.
  13. @superwok what is it exactly that your looking to buy from a retailer ? I only ask as I haven't bought a rif from a retailer for about 15 years, probably the last time I had a valid ukara, anything Ive needed generally comes up in the classifieds at a greatly discounted price, & Tbh I've not had any gats let me down, only time that happened was a retailers website brand new ca mp5.
  14. Like I said I wasn’t having a pop at you and I do understand your argument and emphasise with you. The rules and laws clearly aren’t perfect and penalise those that shouldn’t always be penalised. I think perhaps as a collective we could come together and find a solution that benefits everyone that wants to play and not just buy a rif for nefarious reason. The issue you have highlighted has quite simply shows how easy it is for bad actors to purchase rif’s. I was in no way suggesting you are a bad actor or anything other than a good bloke who just wants to enjoy Airsoft.
  15. Erm... I did say all night, never said anything about next week. Working away then too tho, works saving me a fortune.
  16. Are you sure you can still class yourself as an airsofter if uou haven't bought anything?
  17. Id be surprised if one wasnt made sooner or later but I havent heard anything specific
  18. Looks good, but as has been said, lotta money for something that might be a safety liability primarily, & lots of other issues that may not be immediately apparent. Even if everything about was up to the job, you might absolutely hate playing in it, bit like a biker riding in a Simpson Bandit helmet for the first time, talk about tunnel vision, enough to trigger a migraine. Only thing I'd suggest is if anyone has anything similar at the sites you attend, ask them if you can borrow it for a game, at least then you'll know that kinda set up is viable for you.
  19. No, it doesn’t The 4 + 13 events that I referenced for this year are comicons, steam punk shows (cosplay with a higher average age) and alt cons (alternative people) I don’t go as a paying customer/public, I’m not a member of a cosplay society, but I go as a trader. Existing PLI that I’m under could exclude anything odd A personal liability insurance for dressing up, carrying equipment / props might have actually been appropriate But it doesn’t insure me, and there is no such thing as a cosplay defence for RIFs In the other recent thread a different member of the forum signed up to Just-Cos to buy a RIF - the shop required him to send a photo playing airsoft which is what they will have used as a defence ( Note that I don’t even need a defence to buy airsoft RIFs - I don’t play airsoft, but I do run paintball & airsoft events)
  20. Sorry, i'm not going to have time to give you anything comprehensive - but it is the rear of the piston that i filed off, not the sear itself (which could weaken it). Just a few mm was enough for me. But note that it may be a different cause in your case - it would be interesting to compare the length of your original piston with the replacement one first.
  21. Border Farce have been getting very touchy about anything remotely assault-toy related, even parts, so it's likely that you'll be required to complete an import declaration for it.

  24. Heyo, getting a DE MWS on the 23rd, Already got an extra MWS Stanag and Typ89 Stanag in the meanwhile, Just wanted to check that abbey Maintenance Gas is fine to leave in there and slowly purge / shoot out. I know that purging magazines too fast can damage them, so I was thinking of shooting but I dont know if shooting it out of the magazine would be any less or more damaging than just being careful and slowly purging them. Also thinking of getting a 60 degree Flamingo bucking and M.H.N asap, and getting a replacement GM bcg when the DE nozzle breaks (I've heard its not great). Anything there sound like it wont work?
