  1. Generally, yes, but you can buy disposable compressed gas cans (which work out really expensive in the long term) and I've even heard of ghetto setups that use large car tyre inner tubes (yep, they still exist). Dedicated airbrush compressors can be had for fairly cheap - you'll find compressor/brush sets on Amazon aimed at manicurists to paint finger nails. Might be good enough for spraying small areas. Generally the quality and reliability of these units/airbrushes ain't great, but on the other hand you won't be painting fine details (like, say, an Airfix modeller needs) so they might be good enough to throw some Humbrol #29 onto your blaster. I'm about to jump down the rabbit hole that is a 'proper' compressor for my shed, to run air tools (and the occasional spray gun) - but I have to get an electrician to sort me out with a 20Amp supply to run a more powerful compressor unit, as domestic 13A power supplies will trip out the moment you switch the things on.
  2. Thanks @Lozart, if you do find one I’ll gladly buy it from you.
  3. Interesting - not an issue I've noticed with mine, but the gun is '104/105 based so the front sight is on the gas block? The finish of the body is too good IMO. I though most modern AKs are painted rather than blued from the many factories since the '70s. I want to paint it to make it more tacticool, but it's just too pretty to Krylon. Now, if anyone can tell me where I can lay my hands on a compatible (will LCT fit?) enhanced selector switch (with the extra finger ledge) I would be eternally grateful.
  4. Yeh, £32 excluding VAT for a 4oz tester pot. Crazy. But 4oz might be enough for a receiver and rail system? Still cheaper than sending it off for coating. Otherwise - Tamiya/Humbrol paints with a flat matt top coat? Nowhere near as tough but cheap and loads of colours.
  5. I've just got an E&L which came with a wobbly railed hand guard. I had to use washers to shim it out. The rest of the gun is lovely though.
  6. Sounds like it could be over-spin to me:
  7. New ICS tubular hand guard for my ICS Peleador. I think I'm going with a civilian 3-gun-esque look with this one - need to add either a T1 style red dot on a riser or a short dot scope.
  8. Ok, I'll be blunt: - G&G blowback - reputation for gearboxes cracking due the hole G&G added to the shell to vent the air into the BB Piston. Instant turn-off for anyone who know their guns/manufacturers - I'm assuming that this is a plastic-bodied gun (I think the metal bodied guns have embossed logos on the receiver) - It's been painted. Expect a 20-30% drop in resale value beyond normal second hand depreciation - for £20 more you can buy a brand new, full metal base model Specna Edge 2.0 with an Aster fitted. And a warranty. - Extra mags and batteries do not add much value to the overall package. - It's a bit old school. Many players prefer MLOK rail systems - not the 'A' post front sight. I would: - Revert the gun to a conventional wiring/trigger switch assembly (if you still have the stock setup) - Sell the Aster separately (£30-40?) - Sell the PTS mags separately (£7-10 each?) - Turn the rear sight around - it's backwards in your pictures. - Drop the main gun price considerably (~£100)
  9. Ah, didn't spot that bit. Yeh - if in doubt, stick with the big companies.
  10. As per @Lozart's post, it seems that there are legal BF-88x models. However, within the specs of the units that you linked to, it states that the power output is 3w, which is well above the PMR446 legal limit (0.5w). Could be a typo on the website as it also states that the Aerial is fixed for PMR446 compliance.
  11. I think he only listed them in the last week or so. Up 'til then it's been multi-thickness packs, which I hate too. I have hundreds of shims in a jam jar that I'll probably never use.
  12. I was in the same boat - I only use 0.1mm shims and was fed up of having to order packs with multiple thicknesses. I've ordered a couple of bags of 0.1mm from here: https://springfasteners.co.uk/product/shim-support-washer-3mm-x-6mm-x-0-1mm-din-988/ A bit more expensive (when you factor the £3 quid postage) but it's a UK company and they arrived within a day or so after ordering. Since then, @ak2m4 has started stocking packs of 100 x 0.1mm shims for £8 here: https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/internal-parts/bushings-shims/xt-shims-01mm
  13. Welcome to the forums. If I'm understand your question correctly (this is a UK forum after all) you are comparing the two Cybergun SCARs to work out why they have differing prices. To put it simply: The more expensive model is made by CYMA for cybergun, it has a metal receiver, working ambidextrous controls, and a general fit/finish that is nicer than the cheaper model. The cheaper model is made exclusively of plastic, has fake/non working fire controls on the right side of the gun, and frankly looks cheap and nasty. It is 1kg lighter than the more expensive model. I have no idea who manufactures the gun for Cybergun. I would buy the more expensive model out of the two personally.
  14. Had this arrive today - E&L Rifle Dynamics RD710 Clone:
  15. I like the mag retention strap. I know the IDF issued them. When I played a few night games I rigged up something similar with Paracord - because the first reload after contact generally has to be done quickly and it's really easy to lose your mag in pitch black woods.
  16. Looks like the 'one-post-wonder' that is the OP has decided to pull his post. So the question is: Why did he post in the first place?.....
  17. Yeh, but they ain't selling tens of thousands of them. Sports Direct they are not. Gotta keep the lights on and the staff paid somehow.
  18. Who cares? If the quality is good - and everything WAS I've owned has been - what does it matter? I mean, Nike trainers aren't made in the USA, they are made in Chinese, Vietnamese or Indonesian sweatshops. Doesn't stop people paying top dollar for them.
  19. That looks absolutely spot on. I wonder if he can reproduce Colt receiver roll marks.
  20. You're probably right - most likely made of cheese for that price. Where's the best place to pick up WE extended mags these days?
  21. Ok, follow-up question. Not being a GBB man (it's been nearly 6-7 years since I last owned one), I don't know what's decent or not. Are these mags (a tenner cheaper than Action Army) any good?: https://www.airsoftworld.net/a-w-e-glk-18-and-nuprol-raven-spare-magazine.html I assume it's AirsoftWorld's rebrand of another manufacturer.
  22. I know of two LiPo fires that involved B6s within a 10 mile radius of my house. The balance logic is wank too. I hate that it's become the de-facto airsoft standard with every man and his dog recommending them. I too come from an RC background (fixed wing, helis, drones, and dabbled in cars), and agree that IDST produce excellent units, I have a (so far unused) Q6 which I intended to use for field charging with a leisure battery. But for Airsoft, generally SkyRC stuff is more than good enough, and the S65 is both cheaper and better than B6 AC.
