  1. Dont suppose anyone knows of a good place to get 16guage silver-coated ptfe wire from?

  2. You join a forum and the first thing you do is beg the members to essentially lie for you to a retailer, and then have a hissy fit when people aren't nice about it? Might want to rethink this and start again.
  3. Well...shit. That's annoying, eBay was a pretty decent source of cheap bits. I got a lock knife off eBay the other week, but now I can't search for an m4 air nozzle. Ridiculous..
  4. Stock internals will be fine with a 7.4v lipo, to run an 11.1v you will need to do some internal tweaks and personally I think if you want an AEG which is going to last a good amount of time without having to replace various parts of the gearbox every now and then, I'd stick with 7.4v. Get yourself a decent smart charger such as a turnigy accucel 6 and check out the manual before using, in certain circumstances lipos can explode/combust (but they're pretty safe really). Component shop is a good source of lipos + chargers and all that electrical stuff. Would recommend a non-active braking MOSFET at some point as well, even a 7.4v causes quite a bit of arcing which in the long term damages trigger contacts.
  5. Hey Shizbazki, Watched your videos a couple of times previously, they were very informative, thanks! Don't suppose you know of a good place to get 16AWG silver from? Usual places I look don't seem to have any (even ebay) or I'm just searching with the wrong keywords... I've seen a few places say how crappy the WE stock gears are, I'll definitely be swapping those out with some reinforced ZCI ones. Also do you know if it uses a standard length M4 air nozzle?
  6. Also, looking at ZCI gears, is it worth getting these over their standard ones: http://www.ak2m4.co.uk/zci-gear-set-18-1-performance?search=18:1 Dont really know anything about gears other then the ratios..
  7. I have a similarly enormous head size, got an FMA helmet in large and with some of the padding removed it fits pretty well.
  8. The performance of my Scar so far has not been massively impressive so as I need to open up the gearbox anyway (it's shooting at ~260fps on 0.25g) I'm planning on doing some upgrades / replacing some of the crappier WE internals. Not going for a higher rate of fire or anything fancy, just reliability, consistency and range/accuracy. Done so far: - ZCI 275mm 6.02 TBB (this was to reduce the barrel length rather then an upgrade) - G&G Green hop rubber - XT60 connectors Planning on doing: - Stabilizing barrel (bit of movement atm) - PTFE taping to improve air seal - Non active braking mosfet, probably an airfet - New spring - Bearing spring guide - Replacing gears with ZCI 18:1 reinforced (stock WE gears are weak) - re-shim - Replace air nozzle with an o-ring version - Check aoe Without using expensive parts is there anything else I can do?
  9. Unless you're running something with crazy rof you're going to be getting at the very least least 4 seconds of full auto out of most mid-caps, 1-2 seconds would be low-caps on a high rof... Sure high caps give you the benefit of having lots of ammo in fewer magazines, they also make you sound like a pair of maracas when running and require you to fumble around spinning a little wheel every few seconds. So yeah, it's not just about looking 'operator', some of us don't like sounding ridiculous on the move
  10. Need a recommendation for a sight for my SCAR, thinking either some kind of reflex or a T1 but not sure what would look best...
  11. Installed the ZCI barrel, impressed with the quality so far. End is well crowned and has an indented o-ring to help stabilize it. Not sure about fps precisely as I've not got my own chrono but visually I'd not say there's been much of a difference, think the shorter length has pretty much counteracted the tight bore.
  12. Annoyingly I couldn't get a lonex or madbull in the right size...thought a 300mm would be OK but after measuring I ended up needing a 275mm, so got a zci 6.02 steel barrel from ak2m4. It's for my scar, not actually upgrading it just reducing it down to cqc length, although as WE gearboxes are a bit 'meh' I might end up upgrading it properly at some point.
  13. Has to be a bright colour like lime green, blue or orange. Silver would still be a RIF.
  14. Thanks, I'll give the lonex a go this time then.
  15. Lonex steel 6.03 barrel for £23 or Madbull 6.03 aluminium for £30? Not heard anything about Lonex barrels before, no idea how good they are..
  16. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xdeans+to+tamiya.TRS0&_nkw=deans+to+tamiya&_sacat=0 Take your pick But if you've got a soldering iron you might as well just order a connector and a bit of heatshrink, not difficult to do.
  17. If I'm not mistaken a1 was where I ordered my first aeg's from. Bought a g&g f2000 + ebr and some silicon spray, guns arrived fine but they sent the oil separately for some reason. A couple of weeks later it still hasn't arrived, they ignored two of my emails asking where it was so I raised a PayPal dispute over it which temporarily deducted ~£650 from their account. Unsurprisingly they got the hump over this but I did get the missing item sent out extremely quickly..
  18. Is there a cheap (knock off) version of the Knights suppressor? Would quite like one but it's a tad overpriced.. http://madbull.com/catalog/en/kac-qdc-airsoft-dummy-suppressor-634.html

    1. Lozart

      Lozart

There's loads about. I think ZCI have started doing a copy too. Have a look through RSOV.com

  19. Unless something's changed then the MOSFETs g&g use in their 416's are pretty crap. They have a habit of going pop if a lipo so much as looks at it.. You're probably going the be better off installing your own fet.
  20. Having used both GoPro silvers and an SJ4000 (own one myself) I'd say go for the 4000 unless you're getting a GoPro black, but them things is expensive. For the money the SJ4000 cant really be beaten.
  21. WE aeg doesn't have recoil, it's just a normal electric aeg: http://www.proairsoftsupplies.co.uk/acatalog/MCR-L-Black-Rifle-3026.html They have it in tan + the H version as well, one odd function the H has is that it can use standard 5.56 M4 style mags as well as the heavier 7.62's, does look a bit weird with smaller magazines though..
  22. Got my WE aeg SCAR-L from proairsoftsupplies, they check the FPS and downgrade if necessary as part of the price. Externally the WE is very good, the gearbox however is not quite as good quality as the G&G (gears are poorer quality), however the WE does release spring tension when shifted to safe which is quite a nice function. Disassembly is very simple on the WE but it does have some proprietary parts such as the hop unit. Tried to fit the 2200Mah Lipo from my F2000 into the Scar, it went in ok....then I couldn't get it back out again, had to take the stock to bits, so you'll want something smaller then that. Edit: Just remembered another nice feature the WE has, the long barrel version actually just has an extender on it, which you can unscrew to reveal a standard -14mm thread. So if you want a shorter barrel swapping over just requires a shorter inner.
  23. Going to have to make one yourself most likely. Killflash is more difficult to manufacture, making a protective lens however is simple using http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/360813914102?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&var=630199623780&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Can cut the thinner stuff with a good pair of scissors.
  24. Did have a look around to see if I had a replacement o-ring, nothing of quite the right size though. Have ordered a zci piston head anyway, at £7 they're pretty damn cheap. I'll ptfe the cylinder head once I've got the spring guide + piston sorted out, have removed the old head from the piston now so that's going to be re-used. Will stick with the original nozzle for the time being, the lack of compression was definitely due to the piston head so I should be ok leaving the rest as stock for now.
  25. Doesnt appear to be screwed on, there's no screw head on top or inside from what I can see. Scrap that, had to use a torch to see it clearly but there's a hex screw hidden inside, I just wasn't looking closely enough!
