I'd hope their consistency is a bit better with AEG's, nearly all the parts seem to be pretty standard.

Thanks for spending the time to write up such a comprehensive post. I thought I'd found a place that had a VFC SCAR-L in stock for £350, turns out it was just my javascript not loading the page properly, so I'm back to the other two! Although most people seem to be leaning towards the G&G I'm still very tempted by the WE, not expecting the internals to be high end for that price. But if I can get a good solid running SCAR for ~£250 plus a couple of internal bits that's not bad at all. Would most likely just stick a different spring + bucking in there and leave it at that, maybe a cheap mosfet as well. Is the hopup unit a standard m4 type one? Other then the fire selector I take it the gearbox is standard v2. A video would also be much appreciated, thanks.

I know of 3 sites close to Colchester, only one I've been to at Ipswich is Ravens. Great woodland site, nice chap who runs it, although think I'll wait a month or so before I go back to let things dry out a bit. Parking's not great there unfortunately and it gets even more interesting after heavy rain. Around Colchester there are- Bunker 39 at Fingeringhoe (hurr hurr) Gunsmoke near Tiptree Raw War in Weeley direction Second two are primarily paintball sites which have started to get into Airsoft, might be one more but cant think of where it is..

Good choice on the starting stuff so far, even went for midcaps! The go-to brand for good value bb's tend to be Blaster Devils 0.25g - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ASG-DEVIL-BLASTER-6MM-BBS-0-25G-3000-WHITE-25-AIRSOFT-6MM-PELLETS-/221446924024?pt=UK_SportingGoods_OtherSports&hash=item338f43e6f8 There's endless arguments to which are the best, but they're one of the more popular - and budget friendly, options. Glasses are going to be more tricky, don't think I've seen anyone wear eye pro over glasses before. One option is to go for Revision goggles (or another brand which does the same) and get prescription inserts for them, but I imagine these would fog up like hell. 'fraid I cant be much more help with that.

These were Hero 3's, silver version.

Looks like the standard GoPro mounting system, so it should work with any gopro accessories.

I'd avoid using the Kingston cards, that's the one we had problems with. After talking to some people at GoPro found out they recommend using cards which have at least a 30MB/s write speed (I think it was 30, this was a while back). They'd work most of the time, but with fairly frequent crashes + occasional failures to record.
-
Seen a lens being smashed on a YouTube vid, but it was hit pointblank in cqb by a guy who was cheating (was shooting at like 500fps+ or something daft). I think they're strong enough to take normal hits, all the people I've seen using them have had them unprotected anyway.
-
Wut. Why is that even a thing.

You'll need a decent write speed micro SD card for it, had to sort out a couple of gopro's that were using cheap class 10 cards, crashed a lot. Ended up using http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-UHS-I-CLASS-Micro-Adapter/dp/B00J29BR3Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420232389&sr=8-1&keywords=class+10+micro+sd+card so can confirm they work fine. You can get rubber covers which protect the waterproof case from impact (ebay), but I've not seen anything which actually covers the cases lens.

I don't suppose you've had a chance to compare it with the G&G? I've not managed to find any info which directly compares the two. G&G would cost me about £70 more then the WE, trying to work out if I'd really get much more for that money. I'd really like a VFC SCAR-L, but by the looks of it they have been discontinued, cant find one for sale new anywhere. 7.62 variants look awesome, prefer them over the L. But don't fancy having to either buy a new vest or swap over the pouches every time I want to switch.

Noticed the colouring on SCAR tan uppers can be a bit funky, I'd only go for a black gun though. Colours aside what's the actual external quality like on the WE gbbr? Not had a chance to see one irl.
-
That's a shame, guess it's a two horse race then. G&G always seems like a solid option, wondering how WE are in comparison though. Especially on the externals.
-
Echigoya is relatively cheap, but after tax it works out at ~£420, with the other fees customs and couriers wack on top I'd not be surprised if it ended up at ~£450. Not to mention if there's something wrong with it I'm not going to be sending it back to Japan. Oh and proprietary mags. But anywho, what's opinions on those 3 versions of the SCAR?

Lies Sir! http://airsoft.tiger111hk.com/images/productimg/201311/WE-AEG-0025-SCAR-H-SSR-BK-20.jpg But yeah would look a bit odd

Thinking about getting a SCAR, most likely a SCAR-L due to mag + pouch compatibility. So the three manufacturers which stand out most for me are G&G, VFC and WE. I know TM are the fans favourite because they're made of magical cocaine or some crap but I don't want to spend the best part of £500 on an AEG. I'm wondering what the general consensus is for the external and internal build quality of the three. From what I've heard VFC are the nicest externally but the internals are pretty wank. G&G will have solid internals, not sure how the externals measure up against the others though. WE I have no idea about quality, but in terms of price they sure do make it tempting. Also just found out the WE SCAR-H SSR works with regular stanag mags, even more tempting. Do they generally use standard parts for the internals? I presume they're all V2's.

Bloody hell that's a lot of pistols! Looks good though. My guns are all in those cheapo Swiss arms carry cases which are then left at the bottom of my wardrobe, would like to have something better to keep them in but lacking space.
-
Might well be that the bar which keeps the bb's from launching out (not sure what the proper name is) just isn't being pushed back far enough. I've got this problem with some King Arms mags, just about to try some modifications with a dremmel.

Huge fan of single malts especially from the Islay/Jura region. Currently got a bottle of Laphroaig 10yr on the go and a Jura Superstition waiting to be opened. My preferred way of drinking is just straight in the glass with nothing else, ice waters down the flavour. Cant stand bourbon or blended whisky, tastes a bit rough for my liking.
-
When you seat the mag into the magwell can you hear the click of the spring being released slightly and bb's moving up towards the hop?

Need a recommendation for a bog standard non-braking mosfet, just to save on trigger contacts. Dont really fancy making one myself due to being lazy.
-
It's working again, not sure why though. Stripped down the trigger mechanism to see if anything was broken or misplaced, couldn't find anything wrong but gave it a clean + re-grease. Put it back together, semi now works fine. Nothing's changed in the way it's working, I don't understand at all. Even weirder is that the cutoff lever still does not move, it can move if you do it manually, but nothing mechanically shifts it. Yet it still works. Watched a video of someone elses gearbox cycling and the lever moved up and down as you'd expect. HUGHHHHHH, MA BRAINS.
-
Sounds like they've done something really weird with this one then, doesn't seem like it works in quite the same way..I'll open it up and have a look inside the gearbox, maybe there is something up with the sector as I can't find anything wrong with the contacts.
-
I've taken the cutoff leaver off several times and cant see anything wrong with it, but I also cant understand how the damn thing works. So it sits in front of the semi-auto contacts and can pivot up and down. But why can it pivot and why is there nothing which actually moves it? All that happens if I pull it down and pull the 'trigger' block is that the semi-auto contacts don't break. Canne get me head around it, this trigger mechanism makes no sense to me.
-
Having issues with my F2000 at the moment, last time I used it semi didn't work at all, but auto was fine. Only problem I could see without opening up the gearbox was that the contacts were a bit manky. Gave them a clean and it's now firing fully automatic whilst in semi. I cannot for the life of me work out how this trigger mechanism works and was wondering if anyone could enlighten me. So here's a picture of the gearbox, trigger pushes a rod which then pushes the two contacts at the top together. On semi the trigger isnt pushed as far so it only puts the two contacts behind the cutoff lever together. On full auto it pulls further which causes the bottom set of contacts to break. Now the wiring is done in such a way that I cant see how these two sets of contacts make any difference at all. I've also got no idea how the cutoff lever works as there's nothing which moves it. As an extra if anyone knows of a cheap and extremely simple mosfet which has no function other then to save the trigger contacts, that'd be awesome. Might swap in a different motor as well, one in there is pretty 'meh'.
