Colonel Kurtz and AJWest have both made some excellent points here. The only thing I would add is you need to be careful, when using any object to defend yourself, about showing any signs of prior intent. For example if you have a RIF under your bed and bluff someone, but tell the police you had it under your bed "in case you needed to defend yourself", you're showing prior intent to cause harm and/or fear. You open yourself up to a whole world of potential problems there, and that goes for anything. Weapons of opportune are, as Kurtz and AJWest have said, perfectly acceptable so long as you can justify their use and that you genuinely felt that your personal safety was in jeopardy.
 
To answer the original question, not sure I would use a RIF to defend myself, unless it was to hand and I had no other options, in which case I'd use it as a club rather than trying to pretend it was real. But I can;t see any circumstances where that situation would arise to be honest.

Wearing so much gear will also make you heat up really quickly, a coat is a good insulator, but combining that with a molle-vest, it's just unbelievable how hot you'll get in such a short amount of time. And you won't be able to feel hits, I'd rather have small welts than not being able to feel hits at all and causing problems on a game day

That'd just piss someone off. Some people complain that 5.56 lacks stopping power, a .177 pellet isn't doing shit unless it's travelling at the speed of light.

The ones with bungees don't mean you have to put them over the mags as they should still hold find, that's what i've always done.
 
I've only ever used PMAGs but the only time a mag fall out was using a crappy condor chest rig where I had removed the bungee section as a test, turned out it was gripping the mag where it was tied...

They are deliberate cheaters. Simple rule is if you feel or hear yourself getting hit stick up your hand and shout hit. It doesnt matter where it came from or who fired it a hit is a hit. To not call it is cheating.I have encountered malicious cheaters, even overheard a couple of lads plotting to tell the marshalls I wasnt calling my hits because they were getting annoyed that I kept getting them. So after shooting them in the bony bits I went and informed the marshall myself. Airsoft is no different to any other part of life you always get a tw*t somewhere, just got to learn to rise above it.

It's surprising it is so common when I think every site i've played as mentions it in the brief. The other week had at least 3 people not take multiple hits and it seemed to be on the basis of they couldn't see me so it doesn't count. Also people that try to shoot you after you have hit them before they will call hit, fuck those guys.

You hold it with your left hand, assuming you are holding the gun right handed. It's to steady the gun when a bipod is deployed or it's resting on stuff.

Honestly I've played with milsim groups and when you have anything over 30 people the only way to manage them effectively is through some use of a rank structure - doesn't have to follow anything from real life, but many do because it's easy to understand. It's just impossible for everyone to have fun if it's super casual with that many people when teamwork is just such a vital part of the game.
 
It's those communities that think the rank means something outside of a game where things get significantly OTT. This site looks like it may be one of those. Also, Enjin is terribad.

Project MP5A2. This isn't complete yet as it still needs a new stock, cocking handle and thread protector for the flash hider. It started life as a TM MP5 and has had a A2/A3 style hand guard and lower receiver fitted. The upper receiver has been replaced with a metal version. Internally it will have a mosfet installed and a few other tweaks. The magazine is a 3D printed version that I made.

ATACS LE isn't intended for concealment though. As with black it's supposed to be imposing and make a show of force. If it's dark then any colour other than day-glo will work. If your CQB is a built up area then I'd go for the more neutral colours like grey or RG. If "CQB" means some buildings on a farm then something with a bit more green in to blend in with the plant life (flowers and shit, not the rental players).

I use Isopropyl wipes, the ones I have are just the right size when cut along the fold in them to squeeze into the barrel. I picked up something like 300 for £5 on ebay a while back.

Usually poop quality and can shatter or just clog your barrel up. There's also the issue of your last 10 rounds overhopping so hard that they'll go to the moon.
