  1. Those mortars look cool, but I wonder if players would struggle to tell where the mortar shell landed. For instance UCAP: The Sandpit runs mortars that fire smoke grenades a similar distance, however players and marshalls can clearly see where they landed. As far as the grenades/mines go I like the idea. The issue with impact grenades is they roll after detonating so it ends up being debatable if you were under cover if you didn't see it land. Being hit by "shrapnel" would be preferable but the only option on the market is those pea grenades which are terrible, you may as well throw a handful of BBs through a doorway. The main issue would be FPS, but as far as I am aware a 200 FPS gun can happily launch BBs out 20 metres or so.
  2. I think the only thing i've bought that didn't come from the UK was my Baofeng and my P30 SERPA as I couldn't find any in the UK. What I like to do is split my purchases up between a few shops so for instance my guns come from Fire Support, Land Warrior and Airsoft Zone. I'd be pretty dubious about getting a shop in europe, with staff that don't really speak english to honour EU consumer laws to be honest(maybe they would but it's a complication, plus return shipping overseas). There's a couple of big shops over here that try to pull things like making you pay for postage on returns, but at least you could argue the toss without using google translate. It should go without saying it is preference though, for instance I like buying guns face to face wherever possible.
  3. I've been using 3 LiPos for over a year where I just use one, sometimes I swap them out at lunch but regardless I whack them all on for a charge the night before the next game. Personally not seen any issues and although I tend to play every 1-2 weeks now there has been a couple of periods where I couldn't play for several months. That said I also used a cheapo Kong Power charger for most of the this time as my Turnigy didn't come with a deans lead... I'm not saying what I do is right but it's working fine for me and it should go without saying if I noticed anything off with the batteries I use that they wouldn't be touching my gun(s) again.
  4. I tend to just use regular ASG blasters as they are easy to find, work well and are middle of the road as far as price goes.
  5. 3000, from Socom I was going to buy the 6000 bottles as they are/were 15 quid but was told they don't stock them anymore but could do 2 bottles of 3000 for the same price. Asked for 8 and was told it was along the lines 10 quid more for a box of 12. I'd have bought more but i've rinsed a lot of money this month.
  6. I thought it seemed like a lot of money Seriously though £75 for 12 bottles isn't too shabby.
  7. 12 x 3000 0.25g Blaster BBs 25 x Enola Gaye friction smoke grenades Pack of 209 primers 209 adapter for Dynatex BFG ESS Ice glasses Shemagh in green and black 5.11 OD radio pouch Element M600 torch Should be all set for Longmoor now
  8. I'd highly recommend the TM HK45, it's my favourite gun that I own and I really like my other guns so that's saying something.
  9. Given Patrol Base would be risking their reputation(at the very least) by selling a sub standard mask I'd go with yes. I normally run lower mesh with ESS advancer v12 goggles and whilst it works I've had a shot get me on the bridge of the nose two weeks in a row, which wasn't ideal when the one the first week drew blood lol. Up to you though, personally I'm not fussed about getting shot in the face if it doesn't hit my teeth. As mentioned previously any decent airsoft supplier should sell suitable mesh eyepro and lower facemasks.
  10. Tropic Multicam shirt as the UBACS style one I already have looks dumb without a plate carrier Another box mag for my Stoner, put off buying one due to the price but can't carrying ammo not in mags the upcoming Longmoor game.
  11. Whilst somewhat off topic people that are going to break the rules can do it regardless(i'd argue it's a deterrent but a small one for cheats). There are AEGs with quick change springs and GBBRs fitted with an NPAS can adjust the FPS at their discretion. Not to mention the talk of joule creep in the GBBR thread. I used to have a mag set aside as a chrono mag but the only site i've seen even try and enforce using 0.2s for chrono was the sandpit and they did it by saying we have mags to use, which not only meant you basically needed a gun that took common 5.56 STANAGs but if you opted out it wasn't questioned. As far as drawing blood goes i've had AEGs do it on bare skin at about 15 metres and I would hazard a guess sniper rifles can do it at a greater range. Especially on bare skin. Outside of that the only time i've had medium range shots(15-30 metres) draw blood was when players failed chrono and then seemed to be using very familiar guns... I could see HPA setups causing a problem in the specific semi only setting you mention sp00n. However I've played against people using them in games using run of the mill skirmish rules and never had an issue. As far as hit taking goes with a tank on. That sounds a bit dubious; A BB hitting any material on your person should at least be audible, after all plate carriers have no give and don't cause problems with hit taking. I accept it may happen on the rare occasion but outside of that it seems a bit suspicious, e.g. getting 5 reports of non hit taking in a day.
  12. Source Hydration bladder, thought all bags of water would taste the same but apparently not.
  13. I'd say around the £60 mark, could try for £65 then go lower if necessary.
  14. All Warrior Assault Systems stuff is 20% off for the next 3 days at UK Tactical. My bank account was already rinsed :(

Yeah their kit is great quality, I was shocked at the difference between my old condor chest rig and a WAS DCS. You definitely get what you pay for.

  15. Have a look through these two guides: http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/17294-ians-guide-to-noobism-on-a-tight-budget/ http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/3779-the-beginners-guide-to-airsoft/ The community depends on the site. I'm the same age as you and played at a site outside Reading run by Rebel Troop 10 years ago or so if you remember that shop? The attitude of players there wasn't great and to be honest I have never heard anything good about Absolute(although I think this is more the site). The Mall in reading is also close but I've never been and Xsite Lane End is 30 minutes give or take from you. I can vouch for the players at Xsite as all the regulars are cool and I got treated well as a new player. Age range is very mixed, theres kids from 12ish upwards and whilst definitely not the oldest one of the chaps I play with is 48. Typically 20-30 odd is the largest proportion of players i've found. As Airsoft_Mr_B said you can without issue, just make sure it's covered travelling to and from site. Getting a UKARA number is the easiest way to buy guns by far(hence why it's often erroneously referred to as a license) you can do your 3 games in no less than 2 months with any gun of your choosing(e.g. a hire gun, your gun from back in the day or a mates gun)
  16. My last post was a little blunt but on a more practical level I would try and make note of the stock performance before making any changes then you have a reference point. Best thing would be along the lines of checking if you can hit a man sized target reliably at 50-60 metres. I could easily hit the 50 metre target on a marked range at RIFT Com 3 a couple of months back but it was windy so I didn't try and push it past that as the wind was taking over too much. I'm not saying my gun would shoot that much further, just I have quantifiable proof it can shoot 50 metres accurately rather than going by what I think it can do. I'd definitely recommend using properly ranged targets though as everyone wants to think their gun shoots further after investing money on it. Whether or not that is the case is a different story. The other semi reliable benchmark if that fails is knowing a site and where you can shoot to from a given location, if you can hit past cover you couldn't before you are doing it right
  17. You would have been better off buying a VFC and putting parts in it to be honest. Mine has a firefly hop rubber and laylax tightbore barrel and i'd just say "eh they are alright", seems pretty much the same as it was before - which is pretty decent. People I've talked to who have stripped out all the parts on their recoil shocks are very non committal over improvements they saw.
  18. As far as impact grenades go I would choose either an Oshi Boom or TRMR. I have an Oshi and they are great, fairly easy to reload and just use a spring loaded striker(no gas) to strike the blanks. I believe the TRMRs are also just spring loaded but I haven't used one so can't vouch for how they work or their effectiveness, I just know a lot of people like them. I run one Oshi boom and a Dynatec BFG which is also spring loaded but on a 4 second timer after release. It basically gives the best of both world as I have a timed grenade I can roll down corridors and an impact that can be posted round doorways/through windows. The other consideration is blanks, either 209 or 9mm. 9mm are slightly louder but also more expensive and a little bit more difficult to source than 209s. A lot of grenades come with an adapter but it is worth checking, i'd personally use 209s as everywhere I've seen them they are approximately 1/4 the price of 9mm.
  19. Feeling the urge for another TM Recoil. Not sure if I should get an M4 and make it look swanky or a SCAR L

I am quite partial to the SCARs. Really want something that will share mags with my HK416, otherwise i'd get an AK.

    3. TacMaster

      TacMaster

SCARs look quite swanky by default, they're definitely head turners compared to the majority of pimped up M4s...the problem nowadays is that M4s have to look really special to stand out from the millions of others

  20. Nothing wrong with Razer kit, know loads of people with it and no problems. We all work in IT, not that it really matters.
  21. With the exception of RIFT Com3 the sites I've played out have made hard cover protect you from pyro kills. Basically what I mean is that they shouldn't be a guaranteed room clear unless: you play at a site that runs a everyone in the room dies rule, you don't try and use cover or the site in question has rooms that are 5 x 5 boxes with no cover. I've seen plenty of situations where multiple bangs go into a room then the attackers bundle in and get rinsed by the defenders who were behind cover. They are good tools but blank firing grenades aren't like the BFG from Doom
  22. I use 0.25s in my shotgun but 0.2s would be fine also. I think you would struggle to notice any difference between the two at close range, except the 0.25 bottle costs more
  23. OPS Multicam tropic boonie, trousers and shirt. Also ordered a Blackhawk single point sling, want to see how it compares to my MS3
  24. I'd get a fobus or IMI holster if you don't want to spend the money on a SERPA. There's very little reason to risk poor build quality which could lead to a broken or lost pistol. You would just want to double check the fitting as quite a few airsoft pistols aren't to scale and as such don't fit or need modding to fit.
