  1. We live in a "post truth" world and it's becoming harder and harder to distinguish fact from fiction in many cases. Trust but verify has become my approach to news these days. Avoid the sources that are clearly biased (*cough* Fox News) and draw input from a wide range of sources (personally that tends to be CNN, Sky News etc) and look for the commonality. If a lot of people are saying one thing and a few are saying something that sounds like bollocks then chances are, it's bollocks.
  2. Nice! Where did you source the Aimpoint and LAM?
  3. Trump was always going to defend the man who got him into power! As for Quora, it's like a car crash. You want to look away but for some horrible reason you just can't. Personally, I live for the spectacularly British responses to idiot (and often bot generated) questions about why we don't want to live in a free country like the USA! It's not in the middle. It's mostly not even on Quora, which is a wretched hive of scum and villainy. As for the truth of why Russia is in Ukraine? They say it's because there's a Nazi regime committing genocide against Russians living in Ukraine and that is demonstrably wrong. This has been brewing for a LONG time (if you fancy a read and want to know more - https://www.npr.org/2021/12/24/1066861022/how-the-soviet-unions-collapse-explains-the-current-russia-ukraine-tension?t=1645790108350&t=1645791586753).
  4. I'd say that right now, it's in fairly poor taste given the reasons why the Russians say they're in Ukraine. I don't see that it's in any way the same as rocking up in WW2 German kit though. That can be viewed through the lens of historical reenactment etc playing as Russians would only really be the same as wearing Nazi gear if you were LARPing in France while Germany was invading Poland.
  5. I very much agree with this, there is metrics by which you can measure the quality of gear like this (weight, durability, fitness for purpose etc) but I do think there's an amount of subjective judgement to be made as to whether something is "good enough" for you. I'm not entirely sure that brand plays a huge part in the cost of tactical nylon so much as reputation and small batch sizes. Looking at companies like Platatac for example that sell off contract overruns they're really not that expensive for what they are. Companies like Crye, Mayflower/Velocity etc spend a lot of money getting military contracts and that is always going to be reflected in the cost to the retail consumer (who aren't really their primary market). Like you say, there's definite strata within the Asian nylon market, I have gear from TMC, Emerson, Flyye and Condor and they're all perfectly good for airsoft. I have some Warrior Assault Systems gear and plagiarism claims aside, their kit is made well enough for the price and is certainly more than good enough for airsoft. I have a number of friends who have Crye, Spiritus and First Spear kit (none of whom have mortgages, just FYI) and on the face of it, they don't carry their airsoft mags and grenades any better than mine do. They'll probably outlast my gear but I change my mind fairly regularly on what I want to run so paying "real steel" prices just isn't going to work for me.
  6. Is it actually any better than the likes of TMC or Emerson though? They're in a similar ball park cost wise and as far as airsoft goes, they're fine but they're not "truly quality" either!
  7. With the best will in the world, that's not exactly a "truly quality" plate carrier What's your budget? What do you want out of it?
  8. It's possible your lack of involvement on the forum is putting people off getting in touch. Maybe try getting your post count up and interacting with more discussion threads.
  9. Or he'll end up with an absolute horror that constantly shits itself whenever the Nine o'clock News comes on. Either way it'll be an adventure!
  10. Best of luck getting hold of one of those. @parramoom I'd suggest taking a look at Squadron Sew Shop on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/191725561221347 they make (relatively) reasonably priced but high quality repros of vintage gear like this. Bear in mind though that if you're after something accurate to the embassy siege era kit then it's a heavy old beast and you WILL sweat balls.
  11. Because H&K have a better legal team than Glock.
  12. It uses a non standard hop unit and nozzle so you need to be careful replacing those. Other than that it should be fairly straightforward. Not sure a drop in Mosfet will go in without some filing.
  13. I'm in the process of upgrading mine a bit. It's OK and the JG gearbox is quite beefy but there is a few quirks to it.
  14. Nice! Electronics or window fitting?
  15. Expensive, I like the cut of your jib!
  16. I seem to remember the MEU having a particularly sensitive trigger. They're certainly not "unskirmishable" just be aware of their limitations (don't try and mag dump in rapid succession and don't expect to get a whole mag of rounds out in anything below about 10degC)
  17. Personally I don't think that hip firing is blind firing AS LONG AS YOU'RE LOOKING WHERE YOU'RE FIRING. Sitting in a bush waving your gun over your head saying it's ok because you can see through the branches? Nah, it's a dick move. Think about it, if you're holding your gun at your side with nothing between your eye line and the line of fire then yes, it's inaccurate but you're aware of everything between you and the target. If you're waving your gun over your head to clear the branches of a bush then you have no idea where that barrel is actually pointing when you start firing which is the basic definition of blind firing. The bigger issue is that if you allow someone to do that then it's a small step to full on, poking your gun round a solid corner blind firing which I hope we can all agree is stupid and dangerous (regardless of whether or not people do it "in real life"). The other point is that all of this is largely moot because the site sets its own rules. If you disagree with the rules then don't play there, if they say you're blind firing by shooting from the hip then it's irrelevant what you think, it's their site, their rules.
  18. That's what I was saying though, you have the sense and experience to know that "unused but broken" is still broken. Some other twat would probably call them "custom".
  19. I've definitely noticed an increase in nobheads lately (more so than usual, let's face it this happens every year). That said I don't know of any platform that doesn't include someone that thinks because they've "barely used it" then it's worth 90% of purchase price. It's usually because they need the money and want to try and recoup their costs without actually thinking about it. I don't think there's all that many that deliberately inflate the price to try and rip people off here though, they're usually just misinformed or have an over inflated idea of what things are actually worth once you break that factory cellophane!
  20. There's easy - trim the selector plate, there's slightly less easy but arguably better - drill and tap the receiver and put a screw in to block the selector lever (as you suggested) or there's the expensive way - fit a Gate Titan/Aster/Perun and set the auto position to semi (assuming your site allows electronically locked AEGs as DMRs)
  21. So all the bits that make it go faster than it should then? This is entirely my point and it's a general one not aimed specifically at you - if someone had said "I want to put 13:1 gears and a mosfet in my Specna Edge so I can make it go BRRRTTT is this a good idea" then we could have all said "no" or "well you can but don't be surprised if it breaks" and saved a great deal of cost and heartache. It's the same as the endless "just bought this is it any good?" posts. Like I say though, best of luck. My personal advice would be get it going with the replacement box you got on here and the standard gears and keep it as a backup gun. Then go buy a better one to fuck about with.
  22. Honestly, with the setup you're trying to run I doubt it's going to last all that much longer. They're just not good gearboxes. In terms of all the things you're changing I'd be amazed if you don't constantly have some issue or other purely because you seem to be intent on slapping in whatever you can lay your hands on and hoping it works together which as you are finding out, isn't always the case. I wish you luck.
  23. If you do go that route and need an adjustable liner, give me a shout I have a spare.
  24. If you watch any of Negative Airsofts vids you'll see that very can make an appearance. Personally I use the WD40 specialist sprays but that just because I'm a brand whore with more money than sense.
