I think the perception is that one BB to the eyeball causes permanent, immediate damage whereas your ears ringing for a bit is "temporary". The thing people don't get is that if you do it enough, it isn't temporary. Neither are the headaches, the lack of sleep and the inability to hear conversation over background noise that comes with hearing loss associated tinnitus. Of course I'm sure some quick witted young spark will pipe up that it's because we're old but my tinnitus started when I was in my 20's (gigs, playing in bands, working in and around factories). I have some, they're...OK. Make sure you get the right size for you otherwise they'll be useless as they keep popping out. I changed to ACS plugs that worked better but now I use Earmor over ear protectors or Howard Leights and they're both way better. As stated though, something is better than nothing!

As someone with permanent tinnitus and the associated hearing loss, 1,000,000% this.

You'll certainly see a difference between mounting at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock, let us know what you think though!

As a right handed shooter, I've always mounted my light on the right hand side of my guns. This is mostly because of thing I read about how your opponent will usually aim AT the light pointing at them so if it's outboard of your body then they're less likely to hit you. Seems to work so I stick with it.

As a site, Strikeforce is decent enough and I've had decent times there before. As I said I'm sure I'll go back for private games but not a standard skirmish open day.

First game back in months yesterday, went to Strikeforce CQB for a buddy's birthday. I think I can honestly say it was one of the worst days I've ever played. of the 20 or so of us that went as a group, about 15 left before lunch because things were so bad. As a group we know that if things are getting a bit heated then we'll sit out for a bit and rejoin after. Halfway through the second game after lunch I needed a "breath of fresh air". Went outside to find pretty much the entire remainder of our group outside which I've never seen happen before. So we collectively sacked it off and went to the pub. As for the game itself - a combination of gobby rentals and speedybois that were overkilling every thing they saw move did it for me. Hit taking was so bad that after the first warm up game the marshal briefing the next game had a massive moan about it but it didn't seem to make any difference and nothing more was said about it. Our most reserved member nearly came to blows with a rental that both refused to take hits AND was dumping half a mag into everything. I very much doubt I'll be going back there again (unless it's for a private game).

There's a lot of marketing spiel on their website that shows an exploded view of the motor and mentions the built in ESC, but you're right there's precious little actual information about them. That said there's three parts of fuck all info available from ANY airsoft manufacturer about their motors (or anything else to be honest). I was actually looking for things like the Kv ratings to try and compare RC with airsoft to see if that might also highlight the cost disparity but as you rightly say, there's no info. I think part of the problem is that most airsofters have zero clue about all this kind of stuff (my background is in controls and instrumentation so I have a base knowledge of motors and servos) and really don't care beyond "herp a derp, ARP goes BRRRRRR"!

I'd argue that you're not actually comparing like for like. The Warhead has the ESC built in to the housing, an RC motor is designed to run continuously not in VERY short burts so requires a different performance envelope and more importantly is still in its infancy in the airsoft market. RC and FPV motors can be cheaper because most of the tricky R&D has already been done and people already buy a lot of them. Add to that t he relative size of the RC and drone markets and it's pretty easy to see why airsoft brushless motors cost more. Warhead's parent company also make FPV motors and I can pretty much guarantee you that they're cheaper than a Warhead.

Honestly, the main thing holding back innovation in airsoft is airsofters. This thread alone illustrates it beautifully - there are programmable mosfets on the market that have all the bells and whistles you could ever hope for but for every person that accepts that early adoption of new tech comes with a price tag, there are a hundred others saying that a T238 and a POS brushed motor does everything they want. Both approaches are valid and often determined by how much that person has (or is willing) to spend on toy guns but the one that is happy to spend always seems to get shouted down with cries of "why would you waste your money on that?" or "what's the point? A rental with a £100 gun can still get you" or "there's no way I would spend that much on XXXX". Great, bully for you. My money, my choice. My main gun (of the 15 I own) is a SPecna with a Titan and Blu Link. The only reason it doesn't have a Warhead motor in it yet is because I want to see what the long term compatibility between their motors and that mosfet is (having already had to upgrade the motor twice - once because the Specna OEMN one was shite and then because the Titan ate the Rocket HT motor I put in to replace it; it's now running an Infinity 30K). Does it make me a better shot? No, of course not. Does it make me happy? Absolutely, and in this painfully short lifetime THAT is what we should be aiming for.

The One series is the original range that established Specna as worth looking at (I have an SA-A03 I've had since 2016). They were made by E&C and branded by Specna Arms. When the later series of guns like the Edge and Core came out they switched OEM manufacturer and went with the Orion gearbox that should have been great but early models suffered from a lot of issues. Through decent engagement with their customer base and feedback from their fairly extensive endorsement program they addressed a lot of the issues with the gearbox but there are still a number of niggles. That said a lot of the "don't buy SA they're shit" comes from people that bought the original Edge series or heard things about them on the internet and repeated them as fact. Strictly, yes the Edge 2.0 is their "top tier" model but the remaining niggles do make it worth considering the One series (which I believe is still OEM'd by E&C) as it has a more "standard" gearbox that is less prone to issues and is cheaper/easier to fix if it does have problems. Mate had one for a while before HPA'ing it. It was pretty decent, certainly on a par with my SA-A03. I don't seem to recall it having feeding issues like the Edge 2.0 versions either.

Probs a dumb question on counting teeth

Looks drier than a nun's fanny in there! Make sure you give it some lube before you put it back together! -
Maybe, the FMA helmet doesn't come with those pads though. Might be the "basic" model helmet (especially at that price point). Mine came with the OCC dial liner that has a polystyrene chunk in the front of the helmet.

All good points, but Smirnoff hasn't been Russian since the revolution!

The Maritime is a different shell shape than the standard FAST. I have the L/XL maritime and it is NOT as large as the L/XL FAST!

Reliable and upgrade-friendly AEG suggestions

*laughs in M14 EBR* Do you have wet noodles for arms? -
I'd suggest the Ares, while they have a bit of a reputation as a company to beware of for reliability they did seem to get it right with the Amoeba series.
-
Marketing =/= engineering
-
Do you want an actual "Honey Badger" or just a stubby M4? If it's the former then whichever flavour of Ares Amoeba tickles your pickle.

I think he'll struggle to be honest. Actual Ops Core helmets only go up to 64.5 cm and Team Wendy only go to 63, that said they are sized according to having all the right layers of padding in. If he's happy to forgo a bit of the squishy stuff he might be able to use the shell with some thinner pads.

Something you don't need to do with midcaps though.
-
Google the gun, it's one of the first search results.
-
Yeah. Right up until then. Handy.
-
No, they're not. http://www.fma.hk/helmet-tb402-p-1249.html size info in the description at the bottom.

I run KA mids in my JG, ergo they should work fine in a TM seeing as the JG is a copy of the TM.
