I used to wear a baseball cap but recently switched to an FMA FAST PJ style helmet. Playing a lot of CQB I was getting pissed off with welts on my forehead so it's been a good investment from that point of view.

Having seen both in the flesh I would suggest an FMA one over an Emerson though. Plus all the helmet accessories (mounts, clips rails etc) are much better finished from FMA than Emerson too.

I agree with what you've said, but you seem to have ignored what I mentioned about nav lights. A 20-30 lumen light in red, green or blue will certainly not be visible from long distances/across lanes/around corners etc the way a strong white light would; very far from it. If people flash their weapon lights around just for the purposes of seeing where they're going then that's a problem with their specific equipment and tactics, it's not a problem with lights.

One thing we all got told to buy going through basic was a small Gerber torch with filters for the above mentioned colour as well as white, we all used them extensively through many long nights and they worked well indeed. A white light will absolutely give away your position as well as ruining your night vision along with the rest of your teams'; a small red light will not do any of those things realistically when used properly. Airsofters just don't take this in to account as they're not aware of it, you can't bunch all lights in one category as all having the same effects.

Mack reacted to K@rl in New player I want to snipe tips on loadout
I'd suggest you buy an aeg rifle ie an m4 with a long barrel and low magnification scope. Airsoft snipping isn't as fun as it may sound and is usually a role taken on by people who have been playing for a while or have watched too meny American army films. a good m4 with hop dialed in will shoot far enough but also mean you can switch roles mid game if you want to have some full auto fun.

Eugh.. facebook.. great for throw-away content (memes etc), absolutely rubbish for anything meaningful if you ever want to find the information again any time in future, or indeed have a decent discussion about anything in a format that's not insulting to the eyes. I guess I'm just old...

Milsim is a very broad term, you've got the sort of stuff that gunman and ambush adventures do where it's essentially a well organised skirmish with team kit colours all the way up to stirling and tier1 games where you start at midnight with a full brief followed by a dawn assault to take your team's 'FOB' (if you're on the good guy team that is) followed by 36-48 hours of game without programmed breaks and no safe zone.

The former I would say is eminently suitable as a starting point for any airsofter, the latter normally takes a bit of working up to as the kit requirement is normally a bit more substantial (Bashas, ground mats, cooking kit, a couple of working guns in case your main one breaks, night vision, etc).

That said, the only elitism I have EVER experienced in airsoft is reverse snobbery where guys have had a good old chuckle at the idiot who spent £2k on night vision to play soldiers. Each to their own I say!

Mack reacted to Airsoft-Ed in quick question for G17 owners
Full auto in a pistol is a gimmick and having the fire selector mech present complicates the trigger box and causes parts to wear faster.

So personally l think it makes more sense to get the G17 because no auto means it'll last longer and have a slightly simpler mechanism.

Mack got a reaction from Baz JJ in G&G Raider - Which Optic with Fixed Fore Sight
Not sure why you would need to raise over the sight. If your using a zoomed optic you wont see it and if its a 1x dot sight you wont notice it either with both eyes open as the brain forms the image in your head. Thats why you can still use dot sights/holo sights even with the cover closed aka Occluded Eye Aiming

"Occluded eye aiming takes advantage of our natural binocular vision, and our brain’s ability to merge information from both eyes into what we perceive as a single image. In the case of occluded eye aiming we merge the image of the scope’s reticle onto the image of the target"
