  1. ESS turbofans with lens inserts and fogtech DX wipes. Works for me.
  2. TRMR all the way, I'm keen to pick up a couple for use with the mag flash base at milsim weekenders, that much flash in the dark will be awesome and I expect genuinely a bit disorienting for the recipient/victim. The multi shot base will be extra handy for normal game days, 6 bangs in 2 grenades!
  3. On the subject of following grenades, it works well the other way too, if I hear an enemy grenade go off in an adjacent room I get in there ASAP, often when people rush into a room after 'banging' it they'll completely ignore the doors and look at corners. Easy meat for your counter-rush.
  4. You'll have more problems with customs on the UK end I expect, orange tip means bugger all here.
  5. there'll be two pins at the top, knock them through and the feed lip assembly will come right off. Easiest way to get at the springs and follower without having to take the bottom of the magazine off.
  6. you mean like this beauty? surely everyone wants one like it?
  7. Depends how long you're going to be out in the rain and how cold it is. I played at a local site a couple of weeks back and it tipped down all day but it was 20 degrees so I just wore what I would normally. On the other hand, I played a 36 hour milsim game at the sandpit in Kent in January and I made 100% sure I carried a waterproof jacket at all times as it was cold and there'd be no easy way to get dry and warm again if I got drenched.
  8. That kind of stuff (MREs, toolkits, etc) I always carry in a rucksack/bag, you won't need them when you're out actually playing. If you're in a game where there's no breaks then normally you'll have a 'safe' harbour area or camp where you can leave stuff like food and tools. Carrying it all with you just adds to bulk and ounces turn into pounds...
  9. because the VCRA initially just outlawed the sale of RIFs altogether, it was only after consultation that they added in the specific defence against prosecution for skirmishers. It's a really badly written bit of legislation that's full of holes and inconsistencies, I expect whichever work experience kid or mumsnet forum wrote it just didn't think "these guys have real guns already, will BB guns make any difference?!".
  10. Woah, ixnay on the patronising there pal, I'm 32 with nearly a decade (so far!) of service myself. So much so I'm actually on R&R mid way through a 9 month op tour right now. Your initial post said NOTHING about tan, which was the one I quoted, but even with that I've seen loads of rifles in various shades of green and even some dark red mixed in, just don't have photos of them.
  11. Oh hell no, osprey is awful (unless you're getting shot at/blown up with real explosions, then it's brilliant at keeping your insides inside!), get a belt type setup for cadets and if you want something different for airsoft there's loads of options for something far less bulky and impractical than osprey.
  12. Yes, we get it. you'd rather everyone played airsoft in shorts and tee shirt so then everyone would always feel their hits. The rest of us just aim for legs or head or arms instead when someone's 'not hearing' the BBs hitting their kit.
  13. Took a new photo of my M4 the other day, figured why not put it up here
  14. Really?! The British Army painted a huge amount of weapons for Afghanistan, and well before that most special forces units painted their weapons as a matter of course: 2Para SAS/SBS SFSG US Army SFOD-D USMC Force Recon (Travis Haley!) German Army US Navy SEALs
  15. a magnified sight will just slow down your aiming, get a red dot instead.
  16. Yes but it's a bit of a squeeze, contact lenses are overall a more comfortable solution.
  17. the stuff for lubing the cylinder inside really needs to be their own oil, it's really lightweight stuff designed just for keeping the o-rings intact. You might be able to find some similarly light silicone oil in RC shops but nothing from an airsoft shop will do.
  18. most FAST/Ops Core style replica helmets only come in M/L, try MICH style helmets instead, you can quite often find L/XL replicas of those.
  19. Knock off shrouds on helmets are normally a bit too small, the gopro arm you've got there is designed to fit into a real ops core VAS.
  20. Putting a tamiya to deans adapter in will be less efficient than just using tamiya on its own. Rewire your batteries, it takes about 10 mins.
  21. Depends entirely on the organiser, the site and the intensity of the game. If it's a stirling or tier 1 game you're very likely going to have to sort yourself out for everything, though if it's at somewhere like the sandpit depending on the side you're on you may end up living in buildings etc. All very situational, absolute minimum I would recommend is a good warm sleeping bag, rollmat/campbed, waterproof jacket (that conforms to the dress requirements for the game, no bright orange regatta jackets!), 2 sets of clothing, gun, spare gun, reliable RADIO. Stirling and tier1 both have fairly comprehensive kit lists on their websites, though again depending on the game they may be too comprehensive! One thing I won't recommend is ration pack style food, it's something I see every newbie doing; warming up their packets of sludge over a shitty old trangia stove (or similar). Just pack some sandwiches and loads of high calorie snack foods; I like peanuts and haribo for this. If you absolutely MUST have hot food then hotdog sausages heat up really quick in boiling water.
  22. An airsoft gun shouldn't pierce a can from 20ft, if it'll go through aluminium it'll go through skin!
