I have a lightweight chest rig that I bought to go with my MP7 for when I want to go to a game with just a backpack. Can fit almost everything I need into a 40L bag (including clothing!), only exception is boots and helmet.

Pain in the arse to tech?! The next gen v2 gearbox is so easy to work on when compared to a standard v2, the only thing you need to get to make it all very simple is a castle nut wrench to get the buffer tube off. After that the whole box goes together with no spring tension anywhere.
-
Rather than adding a rail you can add a baseplate that a docter or rmr sight will bolt straight on to. The added weight at the back will negatively affect the performance of the gun though.
-
Easiest way to solve that problem is to buy a higher quality sight, a 2 or 4 MOA dot won't obscure a man size target at 200m let alone 25m.

pre-brief and give each door a number. -
I use ESS Crossbow glasses most of the time, even with lens inserts in they're pretty low profile and I very rarely have any fogging issues.

TM M&P will empty a whole mag snappily even at 0C, no problem. As for how to carry magazines, just buy a load of single pistol mag pouches and wear them on a belt! You'll want a belt for your holster anyway.

For woodland/outdoor stuff where I'm less likely to be shot at point blank I wear a sisu 2.4 mouthguard (very very low profile, but hard as nails - I've been hit in the teeth with it on and they're all still there!), it's pretty good in that you can talk/drink/breathe properly with it in, still can't whistle though! For CQB/indoor stuff it's lower mesh/full face every time, I took a chance a few months ago with gumshield for CQB and ended up covered in my own blood when about 5 guys opened up on my face from 10-15' away (I was a dead man walking too!). Won't be doing that again.

Vests \ Rigs for Tall and Wide blokes :)

anything built for real soldiers really is what you're after. If it's a plate carrier you're after find something sized for Large plates and you'll be set. -
yes/no, ACOG was purchased as a UOR to replace the lifex SUSAT, there's no stores chain for them and whatever ones are left are 100% legacy items that will definitely be replaced by the new ELCAN in the next 12-18 months.

wouldn't worry too much about getting hold of a repro of the new LLM, still plenty of old ones in use.

100% Knickers in a twist going on here. People have been launching TLSFX 2-stage mortar pyro (effectively a Mk9 bang used to fling an Mk7 out of a tube) for years, I've seen them used in an M320 to take out rooms full of people from pretty impressive distances. This is absolutely no different in terms of technicality, except that the tag rounds aren't a 100g lump of flaming cardboard coming at you! As for 'high energy projectile'.... get a grip, it's 24J because of it's mass and velocity at launch; the actual impact energy would be considerably less at even 10' away and the material they're made of is so insubstantial they're less likely to hurt you than a snowball. A squash ball is genuinely more dangerous, everyone ban squash courts, the daily mail will go nuts!!!!

GoPro are probably the best all round camera (i.e. they take the best video) but like Ed said, the contour sticks out less and has better sound quality. The clone stuff works but isn't nearly as good... which goes for a lot of stuff.

I wouldn't bother with the courthouse really, it's like fly paper for morons and cheats. -
You can get a TM recoil shock SOCOM or CQBR from echigoya-guns.com for less than £400 all in, shipping on those models is (was? might still be) free so they work out considerably cheaper than they would in the UK even with VAT added on. My SOCOM came through after customs applied VAT at £330.

No worries, reading it back I can see where the confusion happened! I should have quoted him right from the off. -
I change... nothing. If it's raining I'll put a thin waterproof jacket (orc industries L5 PCU) over the top of my shirt, if the weather is just threatening rain then I'll stuff it in a thigh pocket.

My post wasn't aimed at you, it was intended for ImTriggerhappy, who I quoted, but didn't 'quote' using forum tags. I haven't actually watched the video yet, youtube is blocked on my internet connection here. -
60m at 320fps is the limit for my gun (every shot a hit, using .28s I've found entirely eliminates fliers), that's on a measured range shooting at a thin steel fig11 sized target from a bench, I expect if I 'lobbed' the shots a bit it'd maybe be a bit further, but that's not how I roll. I expect if I put a significantly beefier spring into my M4 and used much heavier ammo (.36 or above) I could get another 15-20m, but I find that 60m is noticeably further than most people's guns shoot anyway Only gun I've ever seen which could consistently hit people at RANGE (e.g. 100m first shot hits) was a supermax PTW shooting about 650fps on .20g BBs loaded with .44g BBs, not even nearly site-legal at 99% of places though.

Airsoft Vs Milsim - Differences ? Opinions ?
jcheeseright replied to RandomTrashy's topic in General Discussion
As Lozart said, one man's excessive is another's acceptable, my main gun is about as good as I can possibly get it and I am 100% happy with it's performance so there's no requirement or desire to spend money there now. Instead I spend my airsoft budget on kit, I have a pair of Crye trousers and a couple of shirts (didn't pay anything like £220 for them though, that's daylight robbery!) I find they're much better fitting and WAY more durable than the claw gear and emerson etc knock-offs that I'd used in the past, the stitching etc is designed to handle a military deployment in afghanistan or similar so I'm confident that whatever I do in an airsoft game they're going to take it and will continue to do so for a number of years. Same goes for my load bearing kit, yes I could buy a warrior DCS for £100 and probably be very happy with what it does, instead I spent £600 on a Crye CPC, is it better? I think so, but is it £500 better? no, not even close, but I had the money and I wanted the best I could get so I got it. (the harness really helps distribute weight evenly too, so I don't feel like a 90 year old man after I've been wearing it for 17-18 hours 3 days on the trot!) As for the 'strictures of milsim' I think you've been listening too much to people who haven't really played milsim games... yes it's more organised than a skirmish (I can't imagine anything being LESS organised) and you'll be assigned to a team of guys that you'll stick with all weekend but all the tasks you'll be given are ultimately optional. No one is your 'commander', your team will have a designated leader for the weekend but their job is just to decide how to implement the requests/instructions of the overall force commander. Really it's just being organised to allow things to actually get done! Going into the topic further, people tend to mix all milsim in together, I'd say there's really a spectrum of 'milsim' games on offer in the UK; from the low key stuff at places like Longmoor run by companies like ambush adventures which are just a skirmish with no arm bands and camo restrictions (green vs tan)... all the way up to games run by tier1 and stirling where your team could quite feasably conduct a night insertion onto a headland by boat completely blacked out wearing gen3 NVGs (if you've got them, obviously) in order to do a rescue of a captured member of your force. There's a whole LOAD in between too! As an afterthought, I'd like to point out that the people I've encountered who've taken themselves (but not necessarily the game) least seriously are those who have attended the 'serious' weekenders and have spent upwards of £3-4K just on what they're wearing for that night boat raid! Some of the most up themselves "I'm awesome because I wear multicam" middle management pricks I've ever met have been people who thought they were 'hard core' milsim players because they went to a themed skirmish without a lunchbreak once every couple of months! I guess it's the big fish small pond thing, where they're viewed as the 'elite' by impressionable kids at their local skirmish place because they're 'milsimmers', while the guys who go the extra mile don't tend to even go to a sunday skirmish anymore. -
try using .25g BBs, they go further.

yeah, it'd be like putting a 5.56 bullet in a 7.62 rifle... just don't work! adding in a CO2 bolt will improve the efficiency over it's stock state... but 8mm is hamstringed by weight, a 0.2g 8mm BB suffers from drag a LOT more than a 6mm one and you've still gotta pass chrono. -

good luck with the 8mm cheytac... you'll find people with £130 combat machines are firing further and more accurately. 8mm sadly is just not very effective.
