G&G CM16 first upgrade suggestions?
jcheeseright replied to Gman1707's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
JULY?! That's an awfully long time to wait! -
I think people whining about HPA guns hurting more or whatever are either being fannies (highly likely) or they're buyin into what they've been told which is that HPA guns hurt more and so their brains are telling them it hurt more. Once a BB leaves the barrel it doesn't make a jot of difference what propelled it, if it's got 1j of energy at the muzzle it could be fired by a rail gun and it'll still hurt the same amount as one from an AEG. The only reason HPA is becoming more popular is consistency, when you can guarantee that ALL of your shots will be within a 2fps margin you can get great 'accuracy' (I've said before there's no such thing as an accurate airsoft gun, only consistent ones) from your gun. Joule creep notwithstanding, there's no difference in the ballistics of a BB from an HPA gun to that of an AEG. NONE.

The 'What have you just bought' Thread

Yeeeeeess, so comfy :-) -
At least USE it before you start having someone take it to bits! You might (and probably will) find that even with 300fps the range and accuracy on the gun are better than most others at your site anyway. Airsoft 'upgrades' in my experience very rarely are, nowhere is this truer than with a real sword gun where the parts quality is already very, very good.

Try and break it, bet you can't without resorting to scissors! -

If it ain't broke... Don't fix it! -
Muzzle energy is muzzle energy, full stop. The very instant the BB leaves the barrel it begins slowing down (same with real bullets) as there's nothing propelling it anymore. If a polarstar/wolverine/whatever gun chronos at 328fps then the BB is travelling at 328fps, exactly the same as an AEG in that respect. Are they inherently 'OP'? No, I can spam the trigger on my TM as fast as my finger can move (pretty fast, few times I've had 'semi only!' shouted at me), same as any well set up gun... can you crank them up to be outrageous 50RPS BB hoses, yes, and if a player does then it's them that's the problem not the gun they're holding!

Airsoft related jobs for 14 year old
jcheeseright replied to AirsoftgoesAli's topic in General Discussion
I was a KP (kitchen porter) in the restaurant at a local golf club, pay was pretty dire even then; £3.20 an hour and it was hard work. But it did pay for a lot of stuff I otherwise couldn't/wouldn't have done. -
Ok, I think a lot of people here have got the wrong end of the stick about what UKARA actually is. It's a retailer's association, your 'UKARA number' does not make you a member of UKARA, your name being on the database is NOT membership of UKARA, it is a record of your membership to an insured game site. If you're playing at an uninsured game site and you injure someone, no one is going to help you.

Yes, it's like changing the plug on your washing machine... If you don't change the socket then it won't fit!
-
my suggestion, don't buy a sniper rifle as your first gun. It's not as good as you think it'll be, sitting in a bush waiting for 20 minutes for that perfect shot, only for the guy you shot to not feel it.

Need HELP finding face protection!
jcheeseright replied to AirsoftgoesAli's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
CE marking doesn't mean that they're rated for any kind of impact or to protect you in any way, just that it complies with EU directives for environmental protection. WE Nuprol stuff is the same ACM crap that's been going for years, just in snazzy branded packaging. -
I think you're missing the point a bit straffham, no one is saying UKARA is a bad system.

there's no elitist attitude here, just an acknowlegement of widespread ignorance.

Thinking of selling my KWA SR10, whats it worth?
jcheeseright replied to mcrrocker277's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
new cost is about £220, so I'd say you're looking at approx £150. You'd have probably got more for it if you'd left it stock. -
I think a few of you are missing the point, there's no denying UKARA is the most foolproof way of proving your defence. The problem stems from a large proportion of the community genuinely believing that UKARA is a legal requirement for the purchase of a RIF, it is not.

Because people are sheep and they believe what their mate's dad's dog once said in the safe zone instead of actually reading the law.

There's a couple of crackers down here in the south west I've had the unenviable pleasure of listening to. One of them calls himself 'hawk' and despite being just a shade over 20 (and about 7 stone piss wet through) has regaled me with his tales of how when he was 'in' they used thermal night sights on all their rifles and how he can't talk about why he's no longer in the military, because it's all very hush hush. One day I'll call him out on his shit, but I need a nice big audience. -
that shit is hideous! stick to a crane stock, Patrolbase to the ASG one pretty cheap and it's solid as a rock.

Suppose I'd better make the leap..

As everyone else has said, wear what you want, play how you like :-) I've found some aspects of military knowledge are useful, others less so, you will get shot by 12 year olds though... Happens to everyone :-) Wouldn't be massively put off by MILSIM either, even the more 'hardcore' games are really just man crèches with toy guns and slightly more organised teams/objectives. You certainly won't be pulling stag for 6 hours in the pissing rain after 2 hours sleep under a poorly erected basha, not unless you really wanted to anyway! -
That RIS on zero one is massively overpriced, you're after any kind of KAC RIS sometimes called Knights RIS, if you have to spend more than £20 on it I'll be amazed.

baofeng UV-5R, you can buy them on ebay in big packs quite cheaply. get some fist/speaker mics to plug into them and then if you want to be 'covert' some 2.5mm listen only earpieces to plug into the speaker mics. all the parts will be guaranteed to work together (unlike airsoft repro shit normally is) and no one will be able to whinge that they don't want to wear a headset/etc etc.
