  1. Overall rating (1 - 10): 10

Would you deal with the trader again (Yes / No): Yes

Any other comments: Smooth transaction, no problems at all.

  2. Nobody can answer that for you, it's a preference. Performance will probably be slightly better than a lower-mid range gun, but the entire system of hop units can only do so much and the recoil guns shoot at a comparably low FPS in stock form. If you think the recoil/blowback and bolt lock are worth the money to you then go for it. If not, don't.

  3. Systemas aren't anything massively special in stock form, certainly not range/accuracy wise; they don't perform impossible feats of physics defying-ness that no other AEG can perform. Its' highly debated and there are many arguments and defendants on both sides, some say the hop unit they use is a lot worse than your average V2 AEG, some say otherwise. Either way, the range and accuracy you'll get from a TM that's less than half the price of a PTW will certainly be at least very close, if not potentially much better. Not as good trigger response, but that can be improved on down the line if you really find the stock gun so lacking in that respect and use a lot of semi.

Plus you get blowback and recoil with a much more tactile bolt catch on the TM guns. Though PTWs do of course have that really easy quick swap cylinder which is nice.

The 416 is one of the best options for a recoil gun if you're shooting lefty; AFAIK it's the only AR style recoil gun with ambi selectors. Bolt release is only on the left side of the gun though and that can't be changed, not sure if any ambi mag releases will fit. The SCAR has ambi mag release, only 1 side for the bolt release. The G36s have no bolt catch/stop on empty and both the selectors and mag release are ambi.

  4. Shipping can be a pricey and should be mentioned. VAT depends on where you order from I have had several packages from a couple of places that always put them down as a gift so no VAT. Still can get most things cheaper.

That's not what the law says though. Ticking gift doesn't mean much, you're only exempt import VAT if the value declared (for the items and shipping combined) is less than £15 and customs believe it. What matters is how much the store you buy from fudges the value on the paperwork; also how much the particular customs person checking your package that day actually cares to question it.

  5. Maybe they couldn't get hold of the dummy weighted rifles. Seems odd though, most places I've been the gym has a bunch in a cupboard for battle phys.

Doubt you'll find that pin on its' own tbh, or spare barrel assemblies in the UK. I've never really searched in depth, but the only places I've seen extra barrel sets have been the larger airsoft stores overseas. Europe and HK.

  6. If you don't actually know what it is you're missing, then it's not essential.

All I have on me equipment wise is ammo, a pistol, my phone and wallet. Water as well if it's an outdoor game where I'd be any distance from the safe zone for more than half an hour or so, but I'm mostly playing small/indoor sites anyway.

That's a beefy armour carrier as it is by modern standards, don't load it down any more than you need to. Literally everyone that's been playing enough years goes through these phases, you pile on more and more, realise you're not using it then take it all back off again. Just think about what you find yourself actually really needing to use while you're in a game and only carry that. Don't be lured in to carrying 2 extra speed loaders, 5 grenades, a tool kit, a days' rations and 3 litres of water etc etc etc if you're only playing standard games (around an hour). Some people like having all that on them and that's fine too, but as I say just tailor what you're carrying to the games you're playing and get rid of what you don't need. I can always tell the seasoned players when I rock up to a site as they'll generally have a simple, well-sorted loadout of a small belt or chest rig and a light weapon. Save yourself the 'middle man' as it were.

  7. lol, I'm not surprised. People treat their issued weapons badly enough, but luckily they're all old, heavy things which will take a beating without issue and people get used to that. Even mid-high range airsoft guns would really struggle, let alone cheap ones. Be interesting to know who was using them, especially springers, they'd not be good for anything really beyond maybe weapon handling/safety practice.

  8. There is no such thing as 'starter' eye pro, it's the one thing you put money in to right from the beginning. Buy a cheap gun or vest to get in to the game sure; but ebay tat like that is not suitable. If you buy plastic lenses you get them from a reputable brand and make sure they have a proper rating.

It's not like you need £120+ Oakley fan goggles either, 5 seconds of searching ebay brings up ESS and BOLLE full seal eye pro on eBay for £20 and under. If you can't afford that, then I'm sorry you can't afford to play airsoft.

  9. Was this from a government surplus/disposal site or company of some kind? If they had a bunch of A1 style L85 AEGs they must've bought the Army Armament clones given how cheap they are compared to ICS and G&G.

  10. Of course the metal clip scratched paint off the rail. It's a sharp metal edge scraping against super cheap airsoft paint; that is going to happen and the real KAC panels those are cloned from do the same thing. The other issues are different but the paint scratching is not the fault of the particular covers you've purchased.

  11. That's some weird smoke. Military nades put out infinitely more volume than anything an airsoft site would sell and you can walk right through the plume without so much as a stain. I tried it once with about 8 going off at the same time, really makes your eyes water but no marks.

  12. All the pics of the CA gun I can find show it with the gas blocks in black, whereas Ollie's has the light grey hue as per an A&K gun. The quick-change barrels might be compatible between brands admittedly but if it was a test gun the MoD was trying out it's unlikely they'd have swapped parts like that around between guns I reckon.

AFAIK nobody's manufactured an airsoft Minimi with the para stock and that thinner old-school 'Mk1' handguard but given where that gun's come from they probably took the US style handguard off and replaced it with the style we issue (that's my guess anyway).

  13. The Mech Originals don't give any more protection than the Fastfit, they do actually fit better though in my experience. As a good, all round glove for skirmishing they tick all the boxes to be honest (imho).

End of the day you'll always sacrifice protection for dexterity and vice versa. Even if you get the most up-armoured Mechanix going there'll still be uncovered areas where hits will hurt and you'll struggle sometimes with various things on your gear (buttons, zips, ppuch lids etc). If you want something more at the protection end of the scale the M-Pacts are great and still allow good levels of manipulation with safety catches, reloads etc. Personally I always wear my PIG gloves and yeah every few skirmishes I'll take a hand shot and it kills, but unless you want to look like the michelin man and be shunned for never feeling a hit that is the reality of the game.

  14. Definitely had "does that noob tube actually work?" and "where's the respawn on this map?", but I can't recall any other exact quotes right now.

The facepalm moment that sticks in my head was about 3 years back, playing at a paintball site that had recently switched to airsoft with no other airsoft sites nearby so literally everyone was new. When I pulled a couple of lipos out of my gun bag you'd think I'd just opened my jacket to show my chest strapped up with a ton of PE while at the same time sweating, praying under my breath and holding a battered old phone.

Only lipo I've ever had puff up was the one inside my PSP which I recently found when moving base and hadn't been touched for nearly 7 years. Even then all it did was expand very slightly, nothing more.
