  1. You really don't need to wait for first hand experience to make a judgement on the TM MEU, it's been out for probably 5+ years at this point and there's many reviews floating around. I owned one for maybe 3-4 years, ran it stock and it got the most abuse of any pistol I own/have owned, only time it had slight problems was when it got full of sand inside and that sand mixed with the silicone and got in all the teeny tiny crevices. Strip down and a good clean later, fully sorted. End of the day it's the same inside as all the other TM 5" 1911s so any review of any of those will be applicable and there's tons of those out there (very few having much negative to say).

  2. That's the thing with aesthetics though, isn't it. Very subjective. I quite like honey badgers but don't like the AW 338. Takes all sorts.

Well that wasn't really my point. IMHO, the actual honey badger looks good, but the ARES version is a very iffy copy to say the least.

I spend a lot of time telling people that it's ok for people to like different things so I assure you I'm aware. But I think it's fairly generally accepted by a large amount of people that of all the guns ARES have done, that one is rather ugly, hence I wouldn't have picked it to argue that ARES make nice looking guns, because you're less likely to convince the audience.

  3. Yeah.. there actually isn't, just missing 2 Glocks from the picture, ha.

That was as wide as I could make it to fit in the space available though, so cest la vie. Main thing is I learnt a fair bit during the build process and the shopping for the materials about what's available to work with and ways to make maximum possible use of the space. Mk2 will probably be an upside-down T shape to double capacity while still just using the one vertical board, a different hole pattern for the pegs and proper wood instead of reconstituted stuff. The plyboard does work alright, takes a stain and is mega cheap, MDF would make for neater results but looks even uglier than than the ply. Looking around B&Q and Homebase though I found all-pine 'furniture board' which comes in pieces far wider than the average plank, as well as stuff called 'hobbyboard' which comes in some nice hard woods and looks to be planks that are glued and heat pressed together to essentially make one piece. Costs about £15-20 for a big enough board to make what I need, but that will be essentially the entire monetary outlay; which is very reasonable for a quality storage solution I'd say.

  5. Depends on the AEG manufacturer.

I have a mil-spec MOE stock on a G&G gun here, very close fit indeed. The MOE and B5 Bravo I've used on my G&P were insanely tight fitting, could barely be adjusted. RS AR stocks fit 'just right' on all my TM recoil guns and KWAs. Very loose on my 2 Avalon/VFCs though and I tried a variety of stock types on them so it's definitely the airsoft buffer tubes that change, not the stock internal dimensions.

As per usual with airsoft, tolerances vary wildly. Long as you buy mil-spec AR stocks rather than comm spec, it'll generally be just fine and if it's loose a layer or two of leccy tape will take the slop out.

Airsoft wise, Arc'teryx Talos trousers in grey to match the shirt I've had for a lil while and some good old Mechanix. Not tried the fastfit before so it'll be interesting to compare them to the original model, see how they perform. Not usually a fan of the look of camo gloves if I'm honest, but I just wanted a pair of these for some reason; they're made from some very nice feeling and flexible materials which is the main thing.

  7. I'm somewhat short sighted, always found an ACOG extremely useful in woodland games; literally couldn't identify friend from foe otherwise. For the longer shots I aim with the optic, closer up you can point-shoot easily enough with a quick burst or few shots in semi.

Only way to really know if you like the characteristics of a magnified optic is to try one out. Within a skirmish or two you'll know whether it's for you or not.

  8. Have to say... if your ear ever got in the way of the reciprocating cocking handle, I could only presume you sights were mounted on the side of the gun and your cheek weld was somewhere on the magazine.:lol:

Despite what some internet commandos out there tend say, you can shoot the real thing left handed without losing teeth. Just only in a very specific, awkward stance and you'd not hit much past 15m I don't think, not without a lot of practice. But anyway, OP, long as it's from a reputable, trusted retailer and brand you cannot go too far wrong; if possible just go in to a shop and get hands on with whatever you can and you'll very quickly figure out what you really like. Half the time these threads end up being more for the old-salts than the new players anyway and it ends up going a bit too in depth, but ergonomics are an entirely individual thing that can't be experienced though the internet. For example, I was always certain that I'd really love the handling characteristics of the P90... handled a real one a couple of weeks back... not a fan it turned out, so you never do know.
