I was talking about this on a Discord. I bought 2x of these mags from a retailer in Asia for... £70 including postage. Absolute insanity.

Is active hearing protection/ear buds necessary???
MrTea replied to Wegalaxy's topic in General Discussion
Yes. 100% I use a copious amount of pyro and have been on the receiving end of plenty and I now pretty much always use active hearing protection after i've left airsoft fields with smashing headaches and/or ringing ears far too often to not advocate fields at least offering the disposable foam earplugs on hand for everyone who plays and wants them. There's almost zero downside to using it other than having to buy and set it up. People will debate on this but I will always say I can hear everything that's happening around me sooner than I would without but at the same time, you get tricked into thinking it's closer than it really is if that makes sense. Personally, I use the Earmor M20T in-ear hearing protection. I originally bought mine for £55 on ebay and it seems to still be the cheapest place to grab them. I've always found that the over-ear style hearing protection makes my ears/head sweat too much so the in-ear ones make much more sense (for me). I'd suggest going for the M20 as the '-T' variant are the bluetooth ones which have a red/blue flashing LED when not in range of a connected device. I've had to apply black tape over this light. The M20 doesn't have this light AFAIK but i'm not sure if there's any difference in the technology used in the device. -
Apparently blind bloke in the Black Country

Easiest and cheapest option: Revision Anti-Fog wipes. They're witchcraft. Breathe on your goggles to steam them up and wipe with the cloth a few times. They take some effort to steam up after that. Using a Delta Mike snood appears to help me because it doesn't trap heat like other face protection. Finally, I use an Exfog unit secured to the back of my helmet with the tubes ran on the inside of the lid, into the goggles. Novritsch has his own type of Exfog unit if you can't find one in stock. I get condensation on the inside of the goggles but rarely do I get actual fogging. -
Personally, never had an issue when buying anything but shipping is expensive so don't take the price per item as gospel, you can pay a huge fee in postage and I think it's mostly weight dependant.
-
Chiming in with another positive experience as i've used them a few times. As others have said, they tend to have a lot of random parts that are unavailable elsewhere. The cheap postage is good but they take a few days to a week to actually dispatch.

Another quality night game at Armageddon Airsoft with a BBQ during the longer break - sadly a smaller crowd showed up tonight probably due to NAF but still enjoyable. Just shy of halfway into the night my Mk18s gearbox decided to lock up right after a reload. Pull the trigger and - clunk and then a dead trigger. Annoying but not really an issue I had my G&G L85A2 as a backup. It was dark now and because G&G have big brains they didn't thread the muzzle device on the barrel meaning I didn't have a tracer so it was hard to tell where my BBs were going but I worked through it using my weapon light... then my L85 decided to strip something in the gearbox... FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUU- this gun has never been fielded and had about 3 mags total through it. I was left with my TM MK23 and two magazines which thankfully did have a tracer I'd got into the suppressor. I now understand why people love this pistol so much. I had to pick my shots with my very limited ammo count and managed to land some great shots on people who were barely visible in the now pitch black forest. The pistol kills were supplemented with a copious amount of grenades. Now i've got ANOTHER two guns to strip and fix ?

Nice one, ty. I'm kind of praying it works because the metal shells are cheap metal, damage easily but are expensive

The guy who made them has a Reddit post which is where I found he actually published the file. Given they're probably relatively cheap to print, i'd assume they're one time use thing so you don't need to scavenge them back up so it won't matter if they're super fragile. As long as they work once, they're good. IIRC he's printing them in ABS. Here's a link to his thread.
-
On an unrelated note; does anyone think they can 3D print these shells for the shell ejecting Kar98K? Link to the file.

Annoyed that this has happened. I'm in a few Discords and all but one of the smaller ones have suspended their sales channels. They were a great place to hang out and casually chat with people or ask for advice. I suspect without the sales channels being active they'll die off pretty quickly.

That looks like a Specna Arms SA-E23. If anyone knows i'm talking mad shit, please correct me, but the 'slots' you can see at the 3, 6 and 9 positions are m-lok. There's plenty of attachments that are m-lok. If you can't find m-lok attachments, there are m-lok to RIS rail sections that exist so you can attach just about anything. The top rail is standard 20mm RIS/RAS AFAIK which will accept just about most accessories.

You would be best off posting in the Appraisals section here: https://airsoft-forums.uk/forum/151-appraisals/

Damn. Hopefully it's only a small batch that are identified to be suffering from this. Can you imagine if all of the RIFs are all prone to this same failure?
-
Ah. Now that's an important piece of info I haven't seen. Will have to wait and see what the G&G response is.
-
What's the likelyhood of it being a small batch of the production effected and they're not all like that? Going to suck if they're all fragile in the same way. I wonder what G&Gs response will be like and if they've ever had something like this happen before.
-
I'm holding out for a not shit Tavor... and an M240B that isn't crazy expensive.
-
I've seen people say Shift Your RIFts is a great event.

That's an insane decision to make. I saw a post about this on Reddit that's pretty funny. Can I just drive through this speed camera at 20 now, so I can do 70 later? Honestly, how this got approved and made its way through multiple people before being posted without being flagged as a REALLY bad idea is wild.

I didn't mean disabling the precocking but releasing the tension applied with precocking - or decocking if that's a better term. In the video, he has a caption stating "To prevent the spring getting weaker from too much tension, release the precocking after the game, by shortly shooting the Replica on Full-auto." As an aside, i'd like to see a comparison in length in the short config vs the CQB/Para style AUGs.
-
The way you have to release pre-cocking is a bit of a hassle if i'm understanding it correctly. If you're in a CQB field, you'll have the full auto disabled so you'd have to re-enable it, fire then disable auto again. The setup is restricted due to the trigger and lack of selector but they've likely got it set up the best way they could. I'm hoping this announcement will spur a few people into listing their AUGs for sale and I can pick a upgraded one up on the cheap.
-
Looks cool. I do like how the outer barrel is in two pieces so you can have a shorter version if you want - it's a good idea. Will have to keep an eye out for reviews when people get their hands on it.
-
Been wanting an AUG for a while so this should be interesting. I wonder what the handguard situation is as I don't like the integrated optic or grip that the A1 and A2 (?) come with.
-
Is it just me or does it look like it's missing a barrel? That camo tape is real subtle too.
-
Personally, I don't trust glasses enough as eye protection. I'd be constantly worried about a BB sneaking around the side or underneath. For my goggles, I use the Revision anti-fog wipes, which are an absolute must for anyone as they're dirt cheap and last for months, and an ex-fog. I sometimes get some (but minimal) condensation however, zero fogging which a lot of people suffer with. I only re-use the wipes when I see fogging start up again. Usually once every few game-days. Could be something to look into.

I'm using the stock gearbox shell and it has a quick change spring.
