I used it with an NPAS for anything but hot days. Then i will just use the blue can version instead.

I was gonna use my dremel and all the plethora of gubbins that come with it. Plus a black and decker workbench to hold the tube in place. I mean I have to justify all the power tools I have right? Lol

Here is my almost complete build using the Dytac F4 receiver & going for a Strike Industries theme. I admit that it has been a pain in the ass, however.

I need a different flat trigger, since this Vulcan one is genuinely too big for the trigger's hole in the lower to be pulled... Haven't tried it in a standard Marui lower - perhaps it will work with that. Maybe Dytac just made the hole smaller, or maybe Vulcan just don't test their products.

The Salient bolt got a nice scratch on the only part where there is text since the fit was stupidly tight in the Dytac upper 🤦‍♂️ Brilliant start. God knows how it will cycle when fired. Not sure why my camera made the bolt look so dirty and dull in the closer picture 🤔

Strike industries body pins don't fit the Dytac receiver since the body pin holes are slightly smaller than a regular MWS (what a weird design choice?), so they're sitting in a box.

Strike industries dust cover doesn't close properly on the Dytac receiver, but still looks cool I suppose. Should have gotten the MWS specific one instead of a real one.

The paint on the Dytac receiver is absolute wank, so cerakote is a must if you plan to get one and want it to look nice.

Didn't mean to get a red forward assist and mag release, but will soon paint them black.

On the plus side, Strike Industries stuff is of really nice build quality, definitely recommended, though Brownells UK is robbery 🤣

Haven't even gotten to fire the bloody thing yet since I still have no mag, but it looks cool at least!

If anyone has a flat trigger, preferably from a MTR, let me know 🤕 Still not sold on having a gold bolt either, but I do like the angular shape of the Salient one.

Also just realised the right side's anti rotation pin is out of place, oops.

In conclusion, Dytac made a nice receiver but also made some questionable design choices in terms of compatibility. Some aspects are for real steel, others for Marui stuff & some just straight up oddly sized (body pin holes).

Interesting. Maybe it’s the plastic nozzle on the Abbey can that’s causing the issue. I’ll have another go and see what transpires.

I tried the tilt method and also thought the same. I’ll have a go and report back in a bit.

I made sure I learnt the correct wording for this at the very least before I embarrassed myself in my first post 😉
Just as a general update, I went for my first skirmish today at Outpost Airsoft and had a fantastic time, will definitely be going again soon!

The people there were great and it was incredibly well organised! I will absolutely recommend to anyone on here based in and around d the North West, or for anyone that doesn't mind travelling 😄

Honestly they are not as bad as people make out. The main thing is they do need maintaining after almost every game where as an AEG rarely needs much doing. Now if your like me and enjoy tinkering etc this is more of a positive over a negative. I love disassembling it and giving it a once over. And it only really takes 20 mins to remove the bolt wipe off and clean it, the receiver and the barrel and regrease it all ready for next time. Reliability wise only issue I had was I skipped the maintenance and the bolt ran dry by the end of the day. But just carry a tub of grease and this isn't an issue of stopping your game day. I like the noise of it cycling, the fact it locks back on empty and the low round count and having to reload etc.. really adds to the immersion for me. Some people like to just point and shoot so for them an AEG is better. But like I say know what you want from the sport and satisfy your needs. That's why there is such variety to what you can get. You will get maximum enjoyment out of it then.

@Mr. No_Face sums it up well there. They are 2 completely different platforms and GBB definitely requires more care and attention. But don't be put off by the umpteen recommendations of not going GBB first if that's what you decide. Just be aware it's a much steeper initial learning curve.

Thank you mate, I'll be sure to check your channel out! 🙂

Thank you for the advice mate! I had watched a video a while back talking about AEG vs GBBR and it was talking about the reliability issues of GBBR due to more metal and moving parts. I really love the idea of full immersion and the more realistic looking/feeling/sounding the gun the better for me! With that being said, have you had much issues with reliability and if so, would you say its a significant difference over an AEG? 🤔

Welcome bud. I like you, heavily researched before being involved online and at games. So much so I had a shopping list well before my Ukara. My first ever game was in october 2021 and  I am now the proud owner a TM M4A1 GBBR. I went against the common recommendation of starting with an AEG due to already knowing my reasons for wanting to play. I wanted realism and a mechanical RIF. The way the M4 works and how it sounds brings the biggest smile to my face. It's a feat of engineering but hey I digress. Just know what you want from it and take note on how you want to play in your rental days and I'm sure you won't go wrong. I bought my own eyepro and face protection after my first game as I hated the fencing style mask and it made that second rental game 10 times better than the first. It sounds like you are heading in the right direction. Don't be shy to get stuck in here it's a great forum. Lots to discuss. Have fun

I am the kind of person that heavily researches something before actively joining "the community" so I know all about the importance of good equipment! I also watch a lot of airsoft related content on YT so have a little exposure to what was needed before going to the shop and picking out my beginner gear

Picked up some good sturdy boots with good ankle support and some bolle x1000 goggles that I got a good deal on. Also got a full multicam set up purely because I like the look of that camo (despite likely not being ideal for UK sites) so from the gear perspective I think I have all I need for now (although I can already tell this hobby will likely be a money pit for me in the not too distant future) 😅😂

Nozzles, nozzle springs, gas and BBs are all consumables in the MWS world. As C-Diddy says treat it as a classic car / high performance car and accept a level of tinkering, with what is ultimately a toy.

At the end of the day there is less to go wrong and when it does it is easier to fix than an AEG with the bonus that some POS Lipo isn’t going to self-immolate at a random point 😂

I'm loving that analogy. I totally relate to that. Like i mentioned about this sunday, mine started to jam as I forgot to clean and regrease it after my last game. My fault. But now have done all that, man, the BCG slides like butter. It's unfortunate you are having such a hard time, but think of it this way... you have now learned several new things on fixing your MWS that you don't have to pay a tech to do. You will be proficient at fixing in no time

Don't get too disheartened. Airsoft is one of those hobbies where, sadly, the odds of our new toys lasting long before something goes pop is never more than 50/50, even with AEGs.

The biggest pain in the arse right now is the lack of available parts, for whatever reason. I liken us having GBBRs to people who tinker with  classic/vintage cars or motorbikes; you know they require more maintenance, parts and overall TLC, but fuck me when they perform they are so satisfying.

Had an amazing time yesterday at District 23. The new noveske rail was great being able to get my foregrip further towards the front and the temporary solution to the barrel adapter worked a treat. Played for the first time with contact lenses in too and it was amazing, every thing was crystal clear. Also got to try out my modded goggles with some cheap £5 aliexpress turbine fans added to them powered off a small power bank on my hat. Didn't fog once all day for the first time even though i was sweating my ass off. All these little tweaks made yesterday one of my most enjoyable game days yet. There was around 40 people at the start. Which for the size of the site was awesome. Max capacity. The gameplay was solid all day with lots of rentals all giving it their best. Not one complaint of no hit taking at all. Some excellent firefights and competitive gameplay. Came back buzzing with a big grin. Only down side is my MWS started jamming on the last game, the bolt had just ran dry. Hadn't greased after my last game so my fault really. Will make sure to grease it after every game now.
