Super-general-purpose do-everything mag pouches...?
RostokMcSpoons replied to RostokMcSpoons's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Hmmm. Ok, thanks for that info, it's something I'll test out once they arrive. I've got Distance Selling Regs so I can always send 'em back and go back to the cheaper Viper Elite single mag pouches instead. -
Super-general-purpose do-everything mag pouches...?
RostokMcSpoons replied to RostokMcSpoons's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
How dare you say that about the brand I have just invested (checks receipt...) £77.75 in! I am totally invested! And now that I have bought the darned things, about 27 flavours of high quality mag pouches at bargain prices will inevitably pop up in the classifieds. It's always the way... -
Super-general-purpose do-everything mag pouches...?
RostokMcSpoons replied to RostokMcSpoons's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
out of stock for multicam versions... yeah looks interesting but I'm not so worried about extreme-tactical-speed for pistol reloads as the pouch will be on my right, behind my holster... the cheaper option is good enough. edit: I went ahead and ordered those items in my basket. There's an EVERYTHING5 discount code to knock 5% off, and postage is free. Which was nice. -
Super-general-purpose do-everything mag pouches...?
RostokMcSpoons replied to RostokMcSpoons's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Nope that's fine thanks...! I already have a couple of pistol pouches but they don't hold the hicapa mags very well, so this bungee version look the very thing to have -
Super-general-purpose do-everything mag pouches...?

Your 'ahem' is noted, and thanked! Assuming the all side panels are stiff enough so the things don't collapse when the mags are out, and re-insertion isn't too tricky, then those are the very (UK sourced) thing I'll buy. Cheers! -

Have to say these look tempting... and double pouches save some belt space and cost! https://shop.reconbrothers.com/product/templars-gear-double-fast-rifle-mag-pouch-custom/ Is there a best place to buy Templars Gear? I've found reconbrothers and e-militaria.pl so far -
Super-general-purpose do-everything mag pouches...?
RostokMcSpoons replied to RostokMcSpoons's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
I'm slowly learning that spending "tuppence ha'penny" on airsoft gear is often a false economy, but I still live in hope for the times when it isn't, so I'm still scouring the bargain bins If I was still playing regularly every other weekend, £100+ on essential gear wouldn't frighten me sooooo much now, but I'm still waiting for Spec Ops to come back on-line. Curse the local council and whatever stupid red tape they've come up with that's blocked use of the site. So £10-£20 each feels right for the 4 pouches I want. As for the site... I'll have to be brave and try somewhere else that's local to me, but so far the stars haven't aligned with dates, car availability etc. -
Super-general-purpose do-everything mag pouches...?
RostokMcSpoons replied to RostokMcSpoons's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Yes they definitely look like the very thing - but the real deal are a somewhat deal-breaking, eye-watering £31 each! I'll have a scout around for clones, if you can recommend anything very similar but half the price, I'm definitely interested Already got a couple of general purpose pouches on my belt (although the bigger one will contain my air bottle when I run the Tippmann), so I think I'll stick with the actual mag pouches if they work. I've fired off an email to AH asking for advice -

Yeah I saw the Viper pouches when I was browsing Action Hobbies (as I can collect from there, and therefore return easily) I might well give them a go... They're not the exact same ones, they're a bit cheaper... https://www.actionhobbies.co.uk/products/viper-elite-adjustable-magazine-pouch/ -
Super-general-purpose do-everything mag pouches...?
RostokMcSpoons replied to RostokMcSpoons's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
I refuse to push things through a sphincter ;D I shall take a look. It may be the best option. I have emailed Novritsch in case one or the other pouch types they sell can be made to work (seems unlikely) I might buy a few cheapo 7.62 pouches from AliExpress in the hope they're good enough, but they'll take a month to arrive... -
Ah yeah, it's the Tamiya polarity thing that must have been nagging in the back of my mind. Not a problem as it'll be Deans Thanks!
-
Oh dear. So I was about to buy the Novritsch mag pouches that would sort me out for my STANAG and AUG mags, thinking they'd also service the M14 I just paid for. It turns out I was wrong, Novritsch sell separate DMR pouches to cater for the M14. Now the problem isn't so much the expense of buying 2 sets of 4 pouches of each denomination (though that would run to 120 Euros, ouch), but that I either need duplicate battle belts for when I change guns, or I need to swap them over (and messing with MOLLE can be a bit of a pain in the fingers as we know, and would eat up a lot of lunch time!) The thing is I currently prefer to push my mags back into the pouches when they're empty so I can keep track of them, and that means soft-sided pouches get ruled out... trying to stuff mags into the likes of an Osprey SA80 pouch is not easy when wearing goggles and trying to look down the side of my (chunky) body. I currently use cheap, but effective, AliExpress polymer pouches. So are there any mag pouches that will hold *anything*, that are fairly stiff with good retention, still allow fast reloads and that aren't super-expensive bits of Gucci kit that would empty my bank account? If I'm looking for an impossibility with a stiff-sided pouch that'll hold M14 + M16 + AUG mags, then I suppose I could try a dump pouch setup - what are the downsides to those, apart from the possibility of a bunch of mags clattering each other? Do people ever lose mags out of them?
-
Possibly silly question: I'm looking for a new 7.4v battery with a Deans connector, preferably a fairly small stick one that'll fit any of my guns. My usual places seem to be out of stock - any recommended retailers? As I seem to be good at killing / abusing batteries I'd rather they were disposably cheap, and preferably > 1200mAH Also: Is there a difference between RC batteries and airsoft, apart from maybe the C rating?

Sweet + savoury. Hmmm, I'm deffo on the side of disliking Hawaiian pizza as a thing, but on the other hand I do enjoy the Yorkshire ridiculousness that is Apple Pie wit' t'Cheddar. Or indeed cheddar with marmalade. So it's not like I'm totally averse to similar flavour combinations. But I don't ever want to be chased by the Italian (Pizza) Mafia? Nah. So in the bin it goes.

I like the look of that KWA, and I definitely like recoil (it's why I bought my Tippmann M4)... one thing to bear in mind that got mentioned in a T10 review video: the recoil is strong enough that it'll actually knacker cheapo sights! So budget for a something a little more than the cheapo Amazon specials (that I happily use on my normal guns)

Action Hobbies had a nearly new NP Defender on sale for £90, but it's just gone... (coincidence?)
-
I've retained a strong hankering for an M14 variant, but they seem to be in short-ish supply at the moment. Action Hobbies have the SOCOM version in stock for £200, are they still good value at that price? (I'd have to invest in some more mags and appropriate mag pouches which is going to hold me back at least until I'm playing regularly again, what with Spec Ops still being on hiatus)

Ahhhh, there's a link to my personal fave band, Cardiacs. Both Ginger (and presumably the rest of the Wildhearts) and Justin Hawkins being big fans. Sadly of course, the mighty Cards haven't toured in years, due to Tim the lead singer suffering a heart attack and a stroke when being mugged, and subsequently dying a couple of years ago... but Tim did some of the Wildheart's production work. Last gigs I went to were Johny Marr at the Festival Hall, and Thank You Scientist at The Flapper in Birmingham... blimey, nearly 3 years ago in August. I normally try to get to a few gigs a year. Sucks that it's been so long

Trying to find medium shaft motors...
RostokMcSpoons replied to LazzurusMan's topic in Electric Guns
It was me asking for medium length motors before, for my JG SG552 (or whatever designation they give it) I managed to get one for £6 off eBay, which worked fine outside the gun but died when I installed it. I maybe pinched a wire and shorted it, not sure. Damn it! The next best I found was for £35, also on eBay. Action Hobbies have a couple of different ICS motors for £40 in stock today -
The 'What have you just bought' Thread
RostokMcSpoons replied to Cameron364's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
That's impressive, mine would read BATTERIES. EYE PRO, SIGHTS, GLOVES, THE OTHER BATTERIES STILL ON CHARGE, TOOLS, BOOTS, SOCKS, AMMO blah blah. Anything short of an actual pew I could forget to bring, and have done on some occasion -
I've got a Classic Army m15a3 and a Tokyo Marui Ak47 which are both doing much the same. Would love to find a fix, though at this point in my revived Airsoft life I've "already got too many guns*" * Says no-one, ever

HI! Please note that one of the obvious options for you, Special Ops at Olney, is currently closed in spite of what the map tells you. The council put the mockers on activity at the site, but the owner is working hard to get it started up again, and is also trying to open a CQB site nearby in the very near future too. (Just checked the website, it is taking bookings for the 18th, but the latest on the WhatsApp group is "still awaiting confirmation to re-open") It's a good site to visit (decently run and marshalled, and very friendly) so I'll make a post when it's sorted, and I'll be happy to meet you there to help show you the ropes

I'll defer to the more experienced / expert members of the forum, but any damage anywhere can't be great...? I'd be most interested in seeing this part of the rubber from another angle (90deg to this view) to make sure there's no damage to the lip

Before I got to your last comment about "sticking to Europe/North Africa" my initial thought was Cuba. Of the places to go in the Carib it's one of the cheapest, has plenty of sites of historical interest, all that cool 50's Americana in the cars, friendly people etc. Might be a bit of a budget buster in some regards, but the beach hotels are often all-inclusive so if you like your food and drink as much as I do, you can get some good value for money out of it That's all said with a big disclaimer though: I've not been there myself, I've been to the Dominican Republic (several times, going there again shortly) - and Jamaica, but my sister-in-law went and she loved it. I think it's popular for sea sports, diving etc, you'll definitely get the 'sea' part of the equation. It is of course hurricane season so you'll get sun / cloud / evening thunderstorms, and 30C temps Egypt might be worth a shout, you can stay in Hurghada on the Red Sea for some proper snorkelling, and perhaps as a hangover from the terrorist attack a few years ago, the prices are very good in comparison to other places. It's proper "scorchio" too. Again, not been there (yet). Tried to persuade the wife again this year, but she prefers to stick to Europe / Carib Just been to Portugal, around Faro and Albufeira... very impressed with Portugal, but if you've already done Lisbon...
