  1. I've picked up a nice Cyma CM.032 M14 rifle from the classifieds. It's in great nick physically but it is chrono-ing a tiny bit on the low side (315fps with 0.20's) That's not an enormous issue, but the fact it's not wanting to hop 0.28's rather is. So I think I need to try a new hop rubber in there... but I've looked at the disassembly videos - they look a bit .... involved. Please give me some confidence I'm not going to bugger it up Any recommendations for a good hop rubber (and nub)? Also, the stock, being long and all-plastic, is a bit creaky at the front end... are there any easy fixes for that?
  2. I've made a full offer on an LVPO 1.25-5 scope, so I'm going to give it another go... it looks cool if nothing else (Hey @FruitNinja20, check your PM's when you've got stuff for sale ;))
  3. That's really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really disappointing. I mean, really.
  4. I just bought one of the iSoft Full Auto Tracer units being sold as "might work, might not, buy it as a suppressor" things from Airsoft World. £8, so yeah, reasonable price for a standard suppressor. https://www.airsoftworld.net/isoft-t-1000-tracer-unit-suppressor-14mm-ccw.html Well consider this a Public Service Announcement, which might well apply to all tracer units... The bore of this is much tighter than a standard mock suppressor. It turns out my DE M905C doesn't have a perfectly aligned inner barrel - it's drooped(?) low - so when I test fired a few rounds through it, the BBs bounced off the inside of the unit, and flew off at disconcerting angles on the way down the garden! Unfortunately I can see it's cracked the inner sleeve around the BB sensor so any chance I had of a tracer unit is probably gone... But, hey-ho... £8. And it'll probably be fine on my other guns. My Novritsch modular suppressor is absolutely fine on the DE, so it'll stay there.
  5. As I need a 7.4v lipo and some BBs anyway... I chucked this in the cart... if Spec Ops CQB site does open soon then a tracer (if it works) would be cool. If it doesn't... well it's cheaper than most fake suppressors on the market anway - so no harm done. I like suppressors on my guns
  6. Re: selling water: you'd still have the unfortunate situation of people who forgot to bring means of payments (or too stingy to pay anything) collapsing due to dehydration.
  7. Yeah, very true. I'm not going to go to prison (or even court, or even a police station) for that twat, but would never shed a tear for him if he got his just desserts from someone who had nothing to lose, and dispensed some DIY 'justice'...
  8. I'd argue she's fully aware of what a colossal scamming wanker bell-end he is, and that she supports it (or doesn't care). She deserves any side-splatter she gets...
  9. I am sorry, it was only when I saw a pic of your son's hat that yeah we've seen each other a lot but hadn't connected the dots... I'll try to put my 'Ross B' name badge on, but here's me as you mostly see me, and me with specs on in that there "Real Life"...
  10. Riiiiiiight... So I found the very first mag pouch I bought, but discarded (not having a proper MOLLE attachment)... it actually works great for M4 (as expected) and AUG mags, and it's workable with the M14 mags once the bungee is well loosened off. So I've ordered 4 of these from AliExpress, hoping that mine is in fact the 7.62 version You can see the construction from the grey version, I ordered green. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001220175776.html £3.50 each! Plus a tenner for postage for the 4 of 'em. The only problem I've got now is it'll take a month to turn up. Should I return the WAS pouches for a refund? I guess I should, I could always re-order them.
  11. Novritsch sell camo gun covers. I bought a cover that was on sale in the hope it would fit ok, and with a bit of stretching it did, and so the gun looks like this, no permanent painting required: If you're less stingy than me you could buy the actual M4-compliant cover and it would no doubt be even better, but even this does enough to break up the long horizontal 'slab of black' which can be easily seen at distance. (Your hands and arms will block / break up much of the lower receiver and mag, especially from the front) I think this illustrates the worth of it pretty well... side-on is the worst case scenario, and at short range the movement gives away much more than shapes... but even at this super close distance, the only thing that really shows up is the magazine, mag well, and sight. And as someone else mentioned, vertical lines are much more natural than horizontal ones. The super-easy alternative to the camo cover is to get some green or camo scrim and wrap it around the barrel and fore-end, and tie it on with string or (sniper's) tape.
  12. Best: Double Eagle M906C. It's been brilliant ever since I bought it. (Apart from the stock spring losing its oomph, which cost all of £12 to replace) My TM Hi Capa DOR has been smile-inducing too, so that gets a big 'Honourable Mention'... that was a good value purchase as well. Worst: Actually there's nothing I totally regret... I suppose my Tippmann M4 might be considered the biggest disappointment. As it's my most expensive purchase - perhaps a bit overpriced - I rather expected it would be my best gun. It's not there yet, but there's still hope I'll get it fettled eventually, and it'll become my true primary. Oh yeah, I bought a set of Lonex flash mags. Great bits of kit, but the one gun they don't seem very compatible with is ... the DE M906. They unwind as soon as they're inserted. Damn them. Hopefully a bit of packing or filing will sort them out. EDIT: It seems I wasn't putting enough BBs into the flash mags... once they're filled up properly and then wound up, they fit in all my guns without unwinding. Result! And a lesson that 'testing' and 'using for real' are useless when they're very different - in this case my test was useless!
  13. Spec Ops have always mandated Bio BBs and I think I've heard of just one instance of bits of a BB getting through a mesh mask in the (checks notes) 'several' times I've been there. It's a shame if they don't break down as we expect... I'm all for leaving the woodland environment and wildlife as undamaged and unaffected as reasonably possible. It could also be one more (small) thing to beat the sport down on.
  14. I tried a 4x32 scope on my M4... spent ages buying scope mounts to get a comfy height, strongly thought about upgrading to a better scope before even trying it, played a morning with it on and switched back to a red dot. It seemed like a good idea at the time. The experience hasn't stopped me from considering another experiment, but I'd probably want to try a scope with zoom, preferably all the way back to 1X, and with a red dot style reticule, so I can play 'normally' when I'm in a hurry to get to an objective. The problem is that such scopes are much more expensive than even the 3-6x40 style that you can pick up quite cheaply off eBay. So it probably won't happen. I may try the scope again, as my playstyle has evolved a bit since that first attempt (it's now slower, measured stalking, rather than a blind rush to the front-line)
  15. Yeah that's pretty much the only way to get them in at the moment! But even then it still needs me pulling the pouch outwards to get enough wriggle-room to wriggle them in. The M4 mag is definitely just loose enough (when only one in the pouch) to make me nervous - but I'll try it on the belt as that might make a difference. I have a full polymer mag pouch in the loft. The first one I bought when I came back to airsoft - it had good retention and yet was still super-slick to pull from, and to re-insert into - I only binned it because it didn't have a proper MOLLE fitting on it. I'm going to go find it and try it just to see if I should find something similar on AliExpress. The nearest I've found to it in the usual shops is this Nuprol one, out of stock... https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/nuprol-m4-open-mag-pouch-v2
  16. WAS Pouches received this morning and tested - off the belt so far... Well, they can definitely hold all 3 types of my mags. And AK mags too I should imagine. They can grip very well, even with just one STANAG mag in there, but that's dependent on the bungee tightness, naturally. Now I've slackened it off to let the M14 mags get in a little easier, it could definitely lose a single STANAG, so I'll install the retention loops too. The M14 mags will be a bit of a 'mare to re-insert once this is on my belt and on me, but it's do-able, and better than not having anything... but it's not a perfect set up. Maybe I should try to find full polymer pouches, if there is such a thing that will stretch to the full M14 size. I'll have to do a full install and trial before I decide whether to keep them. The double pistol pouch is a very snug fit with my hi-capa mags. I don't think I need the retention loops for those, which is good because they're really hard work to get over the base of the mags.
  17. Hmmm. Ok, thanks for that info, it's something I'll test out once they arrive. I've got Distance Selling Regs so I can always send 'em back and go back to the cheaper Viper Elite single mag pouches instead.
  18. How dare you say that about the brand I have just invested (checks receipt...) £77.75 in! I am totally invested! And now that I have bought the darned things, about 27 flavours of high quality mag pouches at bargain prices will inevitably pop up in the classifieds. It's always the way...
  19. out of stock for multicam versions... yeah looks interesting but I'm not so worried about extreme-tactical-speed for pistol reloads as the pouch will be on my right, behind my holster... the cheaper option is good enough. edit: I went ahead and ordered those items in my basket. There's an EVERYTHING5 discount code to knock 5% off, and postage is free. Which was nice.
  20. Nope that's fine thanks...! I already have a couple of pistol pouches but they don't hold the hicapa mags very well, so this bungee version look the very thing to have
  21. Your 'ahem' is noted, and thanked! Assuming the all side panels are stiff enough so the things don't collapse when the mags are out, and re-insertion isn't too tricky, then those are the very (UK sourced) thing I'll buy. Cheers!
  22. Have to say these look tempting... and double pouches save some belt space and cost! https://shop.reconbrothers.com/product/templars-gear-double-fast-rifle-mag-pouch-custom/ Is there a best place to buy Templars Gear? I've found reconbrothers and e-militaria.pl so far
  23. I'm slowly learning that spending "tuppence ha'penny" on airsoft gear is often a false economy, but I still live in hope for the times when it isn't, so I'm still scouring the bargain bins If I was still playing regularly every other weekend, £100+ on essential gear wouldn't frighten me sooooo much now, but I'm still waiting for Spec Ops to come back on-line. Curse the local council and whatever stupid red tape they've come up with that's blocked use of the site. So £10-£20 each feels right for the 4 pouches I want. As for the site... I'll have to be brave and try somewhere else that's local to me, but so far the stars haven't aligned with dates, car availability etc.
  24. Yes they definitely look like the very thing - but the real deal are a somewhat deal-breaking, eye-watering £31 each! I'll have a scout around for clones, if you can recommend anything very similar but half the price, I'm definitely interested Already got a couple of general purpose pouches on my belt (although the bigger one will contain my air bottle when I run the Tippmann), so I think I'll stick with the actual mag pouches if they work. I've fired off an email to AH asking for advice
