Macks airsoft dreamers of the week thread
Cannonfodder replied to Mack's topic in General Discussion
I think you're right. I would've thought they'd take the hint when it didn't sell first time and lower the price rather than put it up Edit: he's clearly a serial piss taker. His advert for a TM 416 has labour included in the list of costs for the upgrade Running it for 25 years? I'm sure I remember them making a big song and dance about having new owners 10 to 15 years ago -
THIS ADVERT IS 'UNCOMPLETED' - THIS MEANS THE ADVERTISER HASN'T BUMPED THIS LISTING, BUT IT COULD STILL BE WORTH CONTACTING THEM.
- Wanted
- Used or as new
I know this is a long shot but here goes. Does anyone have one of the spring powered mk5 pyro launchers which were released about 10 years ago they'd like to sell on? Link for those who don't know what I mean£1,234

Macks airsoft dreamers of the week thread

I've only ever bought from DCA once as it was a small part I couldn't find anywhere else and it all went smoothly. However I agree some of his prices are an absolute joke. What really puts me off buying from him though is the way he acts like a spoiled child on social media -
Definitely the WE. Raven have terrible quality control and unless you just want a holster filler to complete a look should be avoided, in which case there are cheaper options available

Ares Amoeba Striker AS-01/AS-02 Owners Thread

If it's dead out of the box then return it for a refund or replacement. You shouldn't have to spend extra time or money to fix something that's sold not working. Also don't open it up as this could make the warranty invalid -

Whatever you do avoid the GSR replicas sold by airsoftworld. They're absolute crap and not worth 60 pence, let alone £60 -
Keep Getting Shot Under The Ears And On Jawline Help

Goose I use one of these https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/nuprol-balaclava-mesh-mask?fv=22446&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwlN6wBhCcARIsAKZvD5jaemKkNt3eMcxEP64M6fciO3lcGPPBmUvP7fyB981DH6RCSNfSjdwaApMeEALw_wcB The mesh protects the mouth and nose and the material, while not totally protecting you, helps take some of the sting out of hits to the neck -
The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread
Cannonfodder replied to Skara's topic in General Discussion
Bring your own. Talking to the owner they've looked into having a local burger van or similar but from what they said nobody is really interested as they'd need a minimum of 30 to make it worthwhile. Not really an issue for me as in my experience the food provided at many sites is a bit crap -
The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread
Cannonfodder replied to Skara's topic in General Discussion
Today South Herts Airsoft had their first midweek game and unlike many other sites where they're only in the evening this was a full day. Numbers were very low with only 6 a side but as the site is relatively small this wasn't a problem and the low numbers meant games were more tactical rather than the meat grinder which can happen with greater numbers. Hit taking was excellent and I heard no grumbles or complaints. In fact the only negative part of the day was self inflicted as I sent myself arse over tit running for cover and it was only when the adrenaline wore off I realised I'd landed in a load of stinging nettles All in all I hope this will be the first of many midweek games as I can't always get to games on sundays and I wholeheartedly recommend anyone in the Hertfordshire area give them a try -
This. As much as I dislike the whole trial by social media and cancel culture bollocks, if someone is regularly being a cunt they need to be called out over it. Otherwise they'll just carry on and it gives the impression that sort of behaviour is ok
-
To me it depends on the gun. For example I'm happy to take a rattle can to a M4 but my SL8 is staying black as imo it looks far better that way
-
I've found detol can be good for removing spray paint
-
👍 You'd be surprised how many don't know this.

Battery voltage has no effect on fps, it should increase the rate of fire though No worries, 8 didn't realise you're changing barrel length
-
Not sure if I've missed something but I don't see how changing the outer barrel will make any difference to performance
-
I can see where you're coming from but it's also the prerogative of anyone who isn't in-game to make it clear, whether that's by a hand in the air, dead rags or shouts of "dead man walking". Not doing these tells me the player is a legitimate target

dad wont let me own an airsoft gone (read post please)

I'm not sure. The post was made at the start of the easter holiday and we all know how the number of stupid posts always goes up when the schools are out -
As for AI sentry guns There was also a trial of facial recognition software done years ago by HOSDB. From what I heard it went almost just as badly with a high number of misses and false positives As for players nonchalantly walking into other teams lines, I wouldn't call a lack of situational awareness cheating

Not sure I like the look of that ris rail for optics. Imo the older style carry handle rail added to the overall aesthetics

I've no experience with that brand so I can't say for sure but it looks to me like a rebranded cheap chinese gun, possibly a cyma. If so then the internal parts are great but the plastic bodies are cheap and break easily. This. The chargers that come with guns are crap, so much that many shops warranties won't cover them As others have posted it's often to the materials used and quality control. Also some shop owners are simply greedy and like to hike their prices, only to lower them again to give the impression you're getting a bargain Personally I try to get a game in once a month as long as life doesn't get in the way. Don't worry about turning up on your own as on the whole airsofters are a friendly and welcoming bunch. You'll soon find someone to tag along with who'll show you the ropes

Lots of interesting points and counter points being made here. Personally I'm not a fan of telling people you can't wear x,y or z (unless it's a matter of player safety) as we've all paid to be there and nobody likes to be told how to play, but I can understand why sites would do it. If a game is grinding to a halt because one team can't get more than 10 yards from respawn before being hit then to me the site should be taking steps to change the game either by rearranging teams or by moving players back, eg by deploying smoke to simulate gas. Yes this can be frustrating if you're the one being moved but it's just as annoying being stuck in respawn and is likely to make people give up which then only snowballs and makes the game worse. Unfortunately this would require site staff to actually do some work which, as we all know, can be a rare thing

I did the same at Epsom. Same here. It was years ago though so I'd hope its improved. Mind you it couldn't have gotten worse

The only difference between a 2 tone and a regular airsoft gun is the colour. To over simplify it if you're not an airsofter you can't buy a regular coloured gun (there are other defences, but for the purposes of this thread I'm ignoring them for now). One big problem with painting a two tone is that with use it will take knocks and the paint will start to chip allowing the bright coloured paint to show. For bb weight, outdoors you really want the heavier bbs (.28g or upwards) as they hold their 3nergy for longer and so give better range. For years I used .25g, but one day I used .3s as I had them laying around and wanted to get rid of them and the increase in range was significant. If your playing cqb heavier ammo isn't necessary and many cqb sites have limits on the weight you can use
-
Most briefings can be boiled down to "go that way and shoot people". Mind you, no matter how much you simplify things there's always going to be one person who needs every little thing explaining again. Don't forget the cringeworthy names for each bit of the site that sound like they're taken from a straight to video 80's action film

Are teams with red armbands in the disadvantage?

It was taken at a Christmas fancy dress game in 2008 at Techbrigade, I never knew it made it onto arnies.
