  1. Agreed. In the past viper kit was considered pretty crap but they've improved alot over the years. While it may not be up there with the real steel gucci gear it's certainly good enough for a sunday skirmish
  2. Bloody hell that's ugly I agree that the price is a bit much, especially as other guns with all those features are available for less
  3. First of all apologies for the necropost but I figured it's not worth starting a whole new thread. After my OCD got the better of me I decided I need a green holster to go with the rest if my kit and as the ammomax P99 bolsters only come in black I decided to paint mine. Unfortunately it looks like halfords have discontinued their camouflage spray paints as they're nowhere to be found on their website, so after searching Google I found this https://www.sprayster.com/product/warehouse-soiled-can-maston-camouflage-spray-paint-ultra-matt-reed-green-ral6013-400ml/ I'd never heard of the brand Maston before, but as it was on offer I decided to bite the bullet and try it out. It went on well and dries to the touch in about 10 to 15 minutes. Colourwise this looks more brown when it goes on but the green comes though as it dries. Edit: here's another pic which gives a better idea of the colour
  4. Very nice. I've got a couple of airfix kits I've had for years that I never seem to get round to starting
  5. I've been playing for 20 years now and I agree. AEGs have certainly come along way in terms of performance in that time. I think alot of the changes have happened as a result of airsoft becoming less of a niche hobby, whether those changes are positive or negative can and will be debated till the cows come home. For example youtubers are loved and despised in equal amounts but there's no denying they've brought new people into the game and I'd even say they're probably part of the reason so many newbies want to but sniper rifles. Combined with the rise in online gaming many get the false impression sniping is just putting the cross hairs on the target and pulling the trigger. It's a similar situation with ghillie suits, people buy them thinking they'll become invisible and forget about fieldcraft. The thing is though, for an average sunday skirmish everyone has paid the same green fees and so are free to play how they want (within site rules obviously). Mind you I'd rather be surrounded by M4 wielding Bush wookies than speed softers with their day glo drum fed hi cappas
  6. Unfortunately there's not much that can be done to make sure the forum is completely free of scammers, just do enough to put them off. I like the idea of having a post count before getting access to the classifieds. Sure this might put off people who only want to buy/sell but if they're not engaging with the rest of the forum are they going to be missed? Imo the most effective way of staying on top of any scammers is to have admin who are quick to deal with any who rear their ugly heads and a community who look out for each other and aren't afraid to call out bullshit. Fortunately this place is pretty good at that, especially compared to other forums or social media platforms
  7. No worries, it's better than getting ripped off. It might just be old age and cynicism but I tend to think if something looks too good to be true it usually is
  8. Sorry but a TM glock 17 posted from the far east to the UK for £89 posted? There's no way that's legitimate. Also, as posted earlier, the company details don't match up to those of TM (who are famous for not giving 2 shits about the market outside of Japan). Checking the shop's details against Google maps shows that the address listed is a block of flats and the location marked on the map is a fashion store
  9. Are you sure that's really their site? It's very different to their official site Bigstew posted and tbh I'd expect TM to have a site that looks like it was made later than 1998. Have you considered to postage cost? This often brings the total cost up to similar to UK prices
  10. It'd be a shame if someone was to add the dickhead's e mail to a particularly dodgy mailing list
  11. They're German para boots. You're right that it could've been on there before getting to the shop but the ink looked quite fresh. Luckily the hand sanitiser has done the job after a few more tries
  12. Don't worry, I've got plenty of that stuff. The trouble is that sometimes the ink can still be visible through the polish so it really needs to be removed. I tried a wet cloth but that did nothing so tried alcohol based hand sanitiser and that started to take it off very slowly. Yes this is only a minor issue that can be sorted relatively easily, but what annoyed me is that it didn't need to happen at all if the shop staff had used a little common sense.
  13. A new pair of boots from Militarymart. Unfortunately some absolute muppet decided the best way to mark the size of said boots is to write it on the top of the toe in white marker pen.
  14. This is one of the reasons I like this forum, scamming twats are dealt with quickly
  15. This. Iirc under UK distance selling laws the seller is responsible for the parcel right up till it's in the buyer's hands. If a seller is holding on to someone's money and delaying giving a refund then any negative feedback is deserved
  16. It might help if you posted in the right place https://airsoft-forums.uk/classifieds/category/17-guns-wanted/
  17. As others have posted, use it for at least 1 full game day before looking at potential upgrades. This will give a better idea of what, if anything, needs changing. That being said, the most likely things that'll need changing will be the hop rubber and spring. Fortunately these are both easily done
  18. Umarex doesn't make any airsoft guns, they just rebrand guns from someone else and jack the price up
  19. Of all my m4 mags the one that came with my SA gun feeds the worst
  20. It's definitely interesting and I always welcome something new but with it being a cheap clone I can't help thinking the blowback just another potential point of failure. Don't get me wrong, cyma make some excellent guns, but I'm just not sold on this
  21. So like every AEP I've seen before then
  22. What's your budget roughly? Knowing that will help us make specific recommendations The cheap red dots often have the problem of ghosting, this is where a second dot is visible due to reflections between the glass. If the dot is adjustable lowering the brightness can reduce the effect Anything by Acetech will be good. Alternatively the nuprol trasers are good but they're not as bright and don't have the extra functions Any cheap on from amazon will do the job. It's a sacrificial part so there's no point spending more than necessary I use the pistol mag size ones. No idea on the brand, sorry I know alit of people slag them off but I've never had any problems with nuprol batteries. Their chargers on the other hand I wouldn't touch with a barge pole. Alternatively turnigy or vapex
