concretesnail got a reaction from Aj698 in Newbie & Wet Weather
Playing in the wet ccan be great, i have a very fond memories of playing night games in extremely heavy rain.
Kit wise it's good boots and a pair of rab gaiters which sorts the below knee and above its left to quick drying trousers, personally I go for clawgear. The top half is a mixed depending on the style of play, if it's a slow and steady type game or a long one then waterproof jacket that is breathable, breathable is a must. Shorter or very active games, then just my ubacs and base layer.
Vision I play in ess glasses so it a treatment and a hat; tilley, boonie, cap.
Water proofing the rif i do with a touch of conformal coating on exposed connections and swapping all plugs to xt type connectors.
Then ts the little things and the nicer things like a charcoal hand warmer and ziplock bags for anything carried which needs to be kept dry. Spare clothes, towel and thermos in the van.

Strikes me as open and honest, and I enjoy his presentation of whatever does.
Similarly to madmole, my experiences of opening and working on rifs seems to mirror his opinions. I also still own an ares rif, though only one.

I'm glad I asked, I can't find much positivity for them outside of youtube content players and it's putting a pending disappointment feeling in my gut.
Despite the draw of getting to play a cool site I think it might be worth using the funds to get to a better run site.

It might not be broken but might be out of place or worn slightly. If you attach the motor and hold the selector in place to fire, and cycle the rif and get normal function then I'd look at the selectors shape, it's a D shape if memory serves to lock into the mechanism and then the plates interaction with the etu.

Do you know which trigger unit it has? If it is the micro switch type the it be worth running the gear box outside if the rif and manually operating the selector plate. I had a build recently where the selector plate had warped slightly and would not put enough pressure on the switch to activate, similar symptoms to you, the same function in both possible positions.

Well my wife was getting ready for a party and asked me "does my bum look big in this"
I replied "yes, but to be fair, it is a small bathroom"

Under the GDPR, personal data is that which identifies/links to you as a living individual, which includes your name, DOB, address/postcode, email, telephone number, memberships number etc
Sensitive personal data covers areas such as:
race
ethnic background
political opinions
religious beliefs
trade union membership
genetics
biometrics (where used for identification)
health
sex life or orientation
https://www.gov.uk/data-protection
Trade unions are listed, which can be particularly sensitive when considering employment, protest groups are not listed but are a fair call with regards to the potential links to beliefs / politics and sensitivities on differing opinions and the influence it could have on someone’s opinion of you in unrelated areas.
Membership of a group does not fall into the same level, unless there would be factors relating to the type of group.
Airsoft could be something you feel touchey about publicising it.
However, you are attempting to buy an Airsoft gun from someone which implies you play Airsoft and they are also legally liable if they sell to you without a valid purpose.
You have given them the elements of personal data, and there would be no GDPR breach in confirming status under the UKARA.
The entire purpose of the UKARA player database is to validate an individuals status, and the GDPR declaration states that information will be shared among parties - and they are not restricted to retailers only (it does state that they are the primary purpose). The specifics on the wording from the UKARA may vary over time and also with a site specific form as you sign up as a member of a site which is then added to the central UKARA player database.
Note that a seller does not get provided with the members details. The UKARA or a site confirm or deny that the records match

I think my chronic masterbating addiction has returned.
It's ok though, I've beaten it before and will beat it again

concretesnail got a reaction from 1st commando in UKARA - yes I know it should be a banned topic….but
As far as I'm aware the ukara only last 12months and then has to renewed by a site. I should be possible to for a retailer to see if that particular number is "active" or "dormant", then confirm either way for an enquiring party without having to divulge any details.
So the ukara number should be the only information passed to the third party. Then you yourself would be giving the name and address to the seller for shipping.
I believe that is how I should work, as the ukara is only there to facilitate distance selling. This is just how I understand it and and happy to be corrected/informed if it differs either way.

concretesnail got a reaction from Rogerborg in Ghillie suit wearers/snipers wearing team armbands around their ankles or hidden among their foliage. Cheating? Close to the limits? Tactical?
Site rules apply but if its supposed to be an arm band it should remain an arm band.
If the site doesn't object to the armband moving shoot on sight.

And you found a perfectly good gun laying on the ground. Some guys have all the luck. 😉

concretesnail reacted to Speedbird_666 in Favouritism
Was at UCAP Valiant yesterday - and some of the staff playing the day along with some of the regulars and friends. The day's reffing staff made the effort to ensure that there was roughly equal numbers of players with experience of the site on each team. The day went smoothly and the playing staff received their fair share of eliminations from the game throughout. Probably the best day of airsoft I've had in years TBH.
So while yes, favouritism does happen, it shouldn't on a decent, well managed site.

I don't get it, how can you even feel like you're "winning" at something if you're not playing by the same rules as everyone else.
Regulars should be held to a higher standard if anything, because they can't use ignorance as an excuse.

concretesnail got a reaction from Rogerborg in Radios... What do you recommend?
I'd second the baofeng. I've been using them for years and they are still going. I run a fist mic attached to my rig then plug in my earpro when I wearing them. The only mod I did to the fist mic was to add a mute switch so I could sneak up to folk and not have the radio give me away.

When I asked what body wash they prefer to use in the shower, 8 out of 10 women said: "How the hell did you get in here!"
