  1. I ended up trying some Bolle Cobra glasses - almost 2 hours grading in the heat and no fogging and close fit all round my face. Ended up with a great, yellow and HD clear pair along with storage bags and anti-fog cloth for less than the Blocs. Rated to 0.86g at 120m/s = over 6J so should be fine for airsoft 😆 Not as tacticool but I'll survive
  2. Trigger not resetting can be down to a few things: Lubrication - it needs lube but not too much or too thick. It will slow things down and attract dirt. I find locksmiths graphite spray ideal, very slick but not gloopy like oil or grease. The trigger spring puts a twisting force on the trigger that can cause it to rub the trigger box on opposite sides (front right, back left for example) I used some fine grade abrasive paper to polish these sides of the trigger to help reduce this. It is a while since I had the trigger apart so I can’t remember where the c clip goes!
  3. If it is the same video I am thinking of he said that any travel past the start of the slot was wasted energy. Also, the piston doesn’t have to clear the cylinder slots to allow air in-front of the piston. It can be pulled in through the nozzle and round the piston o-ring just fine.
  4. After a pair of safety rated shooting glasses for airsoft use. I tried a pair of Bloc Lynx and found that they sat very high on my nose but more worryingly there was a BIG gap at the side / side of the cheek. Does anyone with a narrow face have any recommendations? Preferably available with interchangeable lenses.
  5. Thanks for the tips, I have run it at several games and put 1000+ rds through it and not had any semi lock up - must have been a one off! It does sound a little screechy in the video - certainly not that bad in real life, probably down to the cheap mic on the phone. I checked the shimming with all gears in place and the shell screwed shut (not just held shut with fingers!) and it was all spinning smoothly.
  6. I would make sure the zet plate that holds the bolt open moves freely and the bolt/buffer spring is lubricated well. Then maybe unscrew the buffer tube by 1 turn and see if that helps? If the mag is getting low on gas it might not fully retract to allow the lock to work.
  7. Which speedloader? Is it the pistol or rifle sized one? Any regular pistol or M4 mag pouch should suit. Doesn’t need to be anything fancy as the speedloader isn’t heavy. Probably choose one with a flap or bungee to stop it falling out and spilling the BBs 😂
  8. Event was ok, quite a few of the opposing side were no-shows so they were at an immediate disadvantage so really struggled and unbalanced sides doesn't make for demanding play, especially on such a convoluted site. Some good taskings and role-play but still plenty of times where we were making our own stuff up. On site catering was great though. Mostly good hit taking / sportsmanship but still the odd idiot moment on both sides. The alleged anti-semitic bit was actually because the numpty drawing the banner didn't know how many points a pentagram had so it ended up with 6....FFS. As to the mutilated sex doll - I guess that was a castrated former prison guard? Figured the props bill wouldn't stretch to more than an Inflatable Ingrid which given the £100 fee was surprising 🤔 EDIT (re-reading previous comments, missed the first time as still knackered) - I didn't encounter any misogynistic behaviour / language / abuse during my time there. Was it the best immersion event I have been on? No. Was it more interesting and varied than a regular skirmish day? Yes. Would I rather Sterling ran Op ACRE II? Oh defo yes.
  9. Really cool build - not sure about the riser on a riser? Are you a giraffe?!
  10. Are the new gears thicker and the sector gear trapping the tappet plate between it and the gearbox shell? I would check that the tappet plate is sliding freely with no gears installed and the gearbox screwed shut - sounds like that should be fine. Next I would look to remove shims from UNDER the sector gear and add them to the top, fit the tappet plate and seal up the gear box and see if it returns ok (don't need the other gears in for this step) If that does work you will need to - either shim based on the thickness of the tappet plate OR sand down the face of the tappet plate to make it a fraction thinner and free to move with the "correct" shimming on the sector.
  11. I think you misunderstand, I am saying that I did not choose the name of the company running the event, not that I was keeping the name secret 😁
  12. Well I didn’t name the company or the event so 🤷🏽 They seem to have a good rep for themed events and Gloucester Prison is a fun site. Also you aren’t going to be there so it just got better 😂
  13. Excited to be able to make this one as it has been too long since the last event (Op ACRE from Stirling Airsoft....also at Glos Prison) and I love game play with a bit more to it than just 30-40mins of pew-pew and then faffing in the safe zone for almost as long. Still weighing up the primary - M733 AEG (with bodged handguard - Gorilla Glue and Milliput to the rescue!) or the MWS (with heavy, real capacity mags...but RECOIL!) and which chest rig to take. USP with lots of mags is a given for the up close and personal nature of the buildings. Very little comms from the organisers, guess there will be an info dump on the day and I can panic program my UV5R before kick off. Got my gang colour t-shirt and 0.28g BBs sorted and waiver signed.
  14. PSA: Loctite 242 stress fractures TM plastic hand guards and makes then disintegrate :(

You need 425 for plastic. I only found this out a couple weeks ago myself, although not through experience.

It was on a metal bolt, not on the plastic! Just being in close proximity was enough to cause issues.

  15. Good work! 1) I am guessing those results are on Joules? 2) I have workshop envy 🤑
  16. Ultrair is often on sale much less than £9, and if you wanted 48 bottles from a retailer I am sure they would do you a deal Also, based on 20g of gas per MWS M4 mag the 15.4kg would equal 768 mags worth, with each fill easily firing 3x mags worth of BBs (35rd) that means you are buying enough Propane to fire over 80 THOUSAND BBs. Assuming no leakage / spillage / venting mags to service them / Coleman bottle giving up on the seams or valve (not designed to long term use) Say you buy all the gas gear and run a quality BB like Geoffs 0.30g, at about £18 per 3000, that is almost £500 in ammo. How many years worth of ammo / gas do you need?! 🤣 Plus allow for dropping BBs, spilling bags in the safe zone (round of applause), etc... So yes there is a saving, eventually, but also a lot of hassle and faffing, and I am sure you will end up running out on a game day and have to spend £12 on a bottle of <gagging noises> Nuprol green and cutting into your savings. Given that most players end up splitting time between AEG and GBBR, only play a handful to times a year or get bored and sell it / sell up and quit you need to be in it for the long run to see a return. I wonder if using a solar panel to charge your AEG batteries would save as much money too? 🤔
  17. BBs do tend to ricochet quite a bit from tin cans but my new Tactical Pellet Catcher 5000 enables me to test accuracy and stop the BBs littering my (or neighbours!) garden! If you are using metal targets on sticks I would angle them so that any BBs that bounce off are directed into the floor. Stringing up some fine mesh sheet (as they use around scaffolding / building sites) is also an option. If the ARU do turn up, be calm and polite, do what they say and be prepared to chat for ages about your RIFs and let them have a play too
  18. Ares Amoeba mid caps seem to work with 99% of stuff (maybe with some tape on the front / back or side) and ran flawlessly in my G&G, G&P, TM and friends WE, KWA and Specna. Obviously Airsoft "specs", "tolerances" and "QC" not withstanding! TM metal STANAG 68rd ones seem pretty universal too, but older looking design and 1/2 the capacity.
  19. What is the centre-to-centre for the MLok bolts? Approximate is fine 😁
  20. Tweaked my two Baofeng UV5R* by removing the inner nubs from the torch/alarm and FM radio button as I am fed up of hitting them and not the PTT. I can still activate them with a pen or small screwdriver if I ever need to. PTT also got some 120grit paper added to make it easy to locate even with gloves on. Final tweak was a Larry Vickers double mag set up. Watch the Colt 723 video on Forgotten Weapons youtube channel. *yes I have a licence for them, sit down. Also stay off my frequencies 😂
  21. Yes, if you can get Ultrair or similar gas on sale / bundle deal it will be cheaper and better than faffing with propane tanks and adapters.
  22. Thanks, not owned / used a NBB for comparison - I know anecdotally they are more efficient in terms of shots per mag fill. If I get really bored one day I might give it a try both ways and compare.
  23. As to 1) I can’t see it causing an issue as only the trigger parts moving. Keep it lubricated (but not too much) and should be fine for dry fire practice. 2) is tricky as the Coleman propane cylinders are hard to find - Go Outdoors might be worth a try. Unfortunately the price of Propane has gone up and even using a Coleman bottle and refilling that from a 13kg bottle will take hundreds of refils to recoup the cost of the two adaptors. Best bet is to look out for deals on gas and buy a few bottles. ASG Ultrair seems good and is often on sale. My WE G19 and TM USP and MWS run well on it down to 10degC
  24. Been thinking about this for a while and would open it up to the hive mind to see if I am on to something or talking cross-eyed badger spit. There are plenty of videos out there where someone fills a mag with gas, but no BBs, and proceed to fire until the bolt or slide won’t lock back. They then proclaim that “tHiS GnU iZ ThE bEsTs bCuZ tWeLfTy tHoUsAnD sHoTs oN oNe MaG” But here is the rub, there is no BB being fired and thus less gas used. Usually the pressure in the barrel due to the BB blocking it keeps the rocket valve open. Once the BB leaves the barrel and the pressure drops the rocket valve can close against the little spring. This diverts the gas back and cycles the action. So are these tests misguided and a rough guide only?
  25. Pressie to myself, Elliot Brown Holton Professional. Solid build, clicky bezel and comfortable strap.
