  1. A few bits have arrived to finish the OpFor rig i'll be using at the next Okto in January... because who doesn't like woodland and a Czech Ushanka ?
  2. Nice, I may bump into you at some point then, although i'm not actually around this week. (It's my local site.)
  3. Basically this is the important tube information. it looks like being a reasonable gen 2 unit although being a pvs 7 means you may need some practice with it to avoid tripping over things (No depth perception.) Either way enjoy your NODs and get yourself to some night games.
  4. The best options for what you're looking for is either a Wilcox L4G11 mount or a norotos AKA2 bayonet mount, as these will fit any OpsCore/Wilcox style night vision shrouds and are highly adjustable. as to where you can get them is a little trickier outside of the states. I would suggest the facebook groups mentioned before or ebay as your best bet. Alternatively Wilcox do make an adapter, but you'll have to have a search for dovetail to bayonet adapters for yourself. Hopefully you'll find something fairly quickly.
  5. Unfortunately not unless you are the only player with night vision in the game area. the thing about digital is that they do still require a light source they just allow you to see IR, so they tend to come with an IR LED illuminator to make anything near darkness visible. unfortunately, because IR is very close on the light spectrum to red you can often appear to people without NV as a glowing red cyclops and for those with NODs you appear as having a giant headtorch, which isn't exactly subtle either. hopefully that explains their limitations, however for dusk and dawn when they don't require the additional light they're great but your eyeball does pretty well too then and is definitely cheaper. as @Monkman said you can pick up a pretty good unit for around 1.5 k second-hand although bargains do occasionally pop up around the 1K mark and there are a couple of FB groups for buying and selling NODs. if you're going the whole hog and making a once in a lifetime investment go for Gen 3s or Photonis Echo's or better if you can, just make sure to see what they're like in person if going second hand. Equally most Gen 2+ units will be amazing for your occasional night game use and it's probably only worth stepping up if you are putting in the hours at night.
  6. New belt arrived just in time this week, ready for testing at Gunman descent this weekend. really comfortable and a nice improvement over my old FRV belt as the pouches are much more stable.
  7. Unfortunately that does sound very sluggish which makes me wonder if there is some cause of additional resistance slowing things down in the gearbox. could be anything from awful shimming, burning out motor or even just low voltage(Flat) batteries so it is probably worth sending to a tech if you're not confident in opening up yourself. someone like Negative airsoft with a good reputation should be able to sort you out. If you do want to go down the mosfet route for precocking a Gate warfet may be an easier option, but whatever is causing this needs to be looked at first really.
  8. If you're at descent I'll be there with my mws... As far as weight goes, mine is stock bar a modify bucking and a six g nub and I like 0.36's but equally my mws is only ever really used in semi really.
  9. I was wondering the same thing. It does require a reasonable over voltage for a FET to actually catch fire, although shorts and current surges aren't good for them either. hopefully things are made a bit more public on this sooner rather than later. They'll release a solution reasonably quickly I'm sure. at least they did with the Mk46 dovetail in the end.
  10. I was surprised too, but there we go. I'm not sure where he's importing them from at that price though. Although £300 for the bundle including the mags is probably still the right price. Especially as the Zhukov is in stock for £230 it works out about right I think ?
  11. you can get the AK74U from zero one or daves custom airsoft for £169 and £139 respectively so that may have to drop in price, but as you say you'll just have to see how it goes.
  12. I have both and I so nearly agree with you... so light and pointy. Just the range you get with heavy ammo in the MWS makes it my go to RIF.
  13. Now for the big question... does anyone have any idea when they're likely to be available? I'm just hoping that it's not TM timing.... I.e. with us fairly soon.
  14. Yep fire support do them... They work on AEGs too. You don't necessarily need to use them, just some rails need them. Barrel Shims
  15. So with the 5ku barrel you don't need an adapter. At least I don't with an angry gun rail, just needed a few shims under the barrel nut to tighten it up nicely. (Sometimes it does need some light sanding but not always.) For the record a PTS adapter also works to fit most AEG type front rails onto the standard Marui barrel. Again the angry gun rail on the original standard mws outer barrel for me. I hope that that makes helps. Having said that I haven't had any direct experience with fitting an Area handguard.
  16. No worries... The answer is probably possibly... Tbh it's worth just using a chrono if you have one and checking your FPS consistency...
  17. Quite possibly... Tbh I'd be happy with 56... But then I always refil gas and BBS at the same time. I'll leave it to someone more knowledgeable to chip in there ...
  18. That is strange, I only have v1 mags unfortunately so I couldn't say your best course of action. Yeah I just stop filling when the hissing disappears. I'm not sure what could be causing you to vent so much gas though...
  19. That sounds like you're not putting enough gas in. With the silent fill mod I'd ignore the 12 second thing as that will be gas dependent and also depend on how much gas was in there to start with. Instead listen to the gas going into mag. Literally ear next to the can as you're filling listen to the quiet hiss. That will give you an actual idea of how long it's going to take... The other thing is how full your can of green gas is. It's worth remembering that these mags can hold A LOT of gas compared to the volume of the gas can...
  20. I use a guns modify ambi selector and it works ok. Not the crispest action bit it functions well enough...
  21. Yeah, no bolt catch... The only way you know that you're out is the deadmans click as the striker hits empty air... Tokyo Marui have done a really nice job there on that.
  22. @alxndrhllI definitely agree it is possibly the oddest business model but I guess you can get away with a lot when you have a good product and consistent QC
  23. There is a special tool that fits over the barrel and slides inside the handguard to do up the barrel nut... Same as the real steel. It's quite a neat design really, just not cheap to reproduce. Having said that, whilst the upper is fairly expensive, the full kit is actually an ok ish price, although still expensive. Considering the very low quantities they actually make them in I'd say it's a decent price. It's certainly not a small bit of machining as you say. If I did a batch of 10 through the suppliers I use at work I would expect to pay about £750 per receiver and that's not including anodising or design time which also adds up really quickly...
  24. Unfortunately not... The width is a little bit different so you would need to make a spacer for the mag release... I think ATRG did a blog on how to do that though so it can be done with some modifications. Edit: Here is the link to the blog post I mentioned
  25. Yes and no. They are reasonably stiff and come in a variety of lengths however they are also two part assemblies so make sure the grub screws are tightened up and loctighted... Don't make the mistake I did and send the outer barrel flying mid fire fight ?
