  1. There are quite a lot of different belt manufacturers out there at the moment but it sounds like you are after a shooters belt and most of the real steel brands are probably pretty good... Just please whatever you do avoid FRV tailoring at the moment. from what i can see they've gone into administration. (Although if you do find one second hand it is a decent belt.) As far as my top brands (This is gucci kit with a price to match.) have a look at the C2rfast shootersbelt, ferro concepts bison belt or possibly the axl belt (milspec tailor kit is also in this bracket) Alternative really solid belts that you can get for a good price are things like blackhawk(Old-school but comfortable and proven kit that comes up on ebay often enough.) TacbeltsUK, british tactical (Their lightweight horizon laminate stuff especially is made by a really clever guy on IG Called Flimmurr which is top kit made in the UK at bargain prices.) Obviously there are loads of other brands out there and there are also other styles such as the HSGI and warrior padded belts that will be solid too, but this was just a way to throw some more brands out there for my 2pence worth. (I dont know much about the GP or Odin belts from tactical kit so I can't comment on them unfortunately.) The main thing to remember is that for gas mags you need a fairly stiff belt and a good holster to stop everything flapping around or digging in etc.
  2. I always use optics on my rifles and SMG's but I should caveat that I also mostly use gas rifles and when you're talking about 35 rds in a mag walking rounds on target doesn't work. I'd also say that allows you to indulge in some sneaky shooting... there is something fun about quietly working through some bushes to take a couple of shots and disappear again before they can identify where you were firing from. (Quiet easy to do with a gbbr as the sounds a bit harder to locate from just a few shots.) Having said that I am pretty similar to you with regards to instinctive point shooting with a pistol. although at more open sites you do need to aim a bit more due to longer distances and smaller targets, for that reason I'd never not have the sights on my pistol.
  3. Diggers is run at the Fawkham ultimate wargames site I believe... Its run by sierra bravo airsoft. https://www.sierrabravoairsoft.com/
  4. I think that video is the highlight of my day so far.... it's been a looooong day. ?
  5. I could imagine that the CO2 conversion is just a canister in the bolt style or something like the wolverine bolt although i'd happily be wrong. still be interested to see what the performance is like stock though... although at that price i'm waiting till they're actually in country before i order.
  6. They're definitely a labour of love if you go through with publishing any kind of articles, especially as they are constantly evolving so they become out of date very quickly. And that's before you get the purists involved arguing about the different colours and shades of multicam webbing available and in use (yes that genuinely happened on a FB group yesterday.) Having said that, if you want to write then go for it, put the research in and enjoy the process. You're unlikely get famous or make money or get free stuff but you might have fun and provide a few readers with some entertainment. For some inspiration have a read of some of the good blogs out there like ATRG, thegeardocrow, thefull9, thegearconfessional or the reptile house blog. Enjoy ?
  7. there is that too.... although that kinda comes with the territory of real wood stocks i think. actually for an Ares that is definitely a gamble at that price.
  8. I live in hope.... i guess we'll have to wait and see. the sad bit is the mag is wrong on the L42A1 but thats a minor detail.
  9. Chest rigs are a bit less common these days but still used occasionally for specific roles. I suspect that belt kit will always be king in the light infantry role for a while anyway. The Royal marines will be issued a C2R chest rig soon though (although this is probably British military "soon") Alternatively uksf use a few different variations including C2Rfast, mayflower and Platatac being seen. There will be others out there too I'm sure. (It's mostly private purchase stuff for the most part though.)
  10. my thoughts exactly... but you never know. it looks suspiciously conventional based upon what can be seen of the cylinder anyway. actually scratch that... it looks like the sear goes in the side ... ?
  11. I saw this pop up on the Ares facebook page and since i have such as soft spot for the T variant I had to share it; Wood and metal... i just hope that the hop up is built a little better than the glued S&T No 3....
  12. There is a limit, but that's a maximum number of adverts listed in a week if I remember correctly.
  13. Tbf it would also remove a lot of the spam that needs to be manually filtered out and removed too.
  14. I definitely agree, a minimum 10 posts or a time period would be a nice addition and make life easier to filter through.
  15. That's a good spot... I'd never have even noticed that ?
  16. By the looks of it they make gelblasters... So I assume it's not Airsoft at all...
  17. Yeah, I'm in much the same position. And the talk of a target price actually gives me a hint of hope. Time will tell if the reps are right I guess.
  18. On the topic of MoA I managed to get a few details from someone who is there and has been talking to the VFC reps. Current thinking is a release sometime around July (I have little faith in that bit unfortunately) the price has also been aimed at 19800 TWD which is around £530 plus tax at current exchange rates. Materials wise it sounds like it's mostly steel, including the bolt however, interestingly they've chosen not to apply the full trademarks to keep costs down. All in all it sounds fairly promising and definitely a rif that I'll be trying to get my hands on when they do come out ?
  19. Yeah, It definitely is not at all light tbf and also not at all small either but then It is based upon a .50 cal. Just another option really. sadly i like niche and awkward guns it turns out ?
  20. I've heard that the Silverback HTI has a really nice bolt pull due to the stupidly large cylinder volume. It's certainly one of those rifles that i'd really like to own one day and it seems to perform pretty well by all accounts.
  21. I know they mentioned Q3 last year. so I suspect they found another issue or something came up in production. At least it proves that they haven't given up on it. I'm still really hoping it arrives soon though. would be even nicer to have one in wood or even better an L1A1, but I'd take any FAL/SLR at this point...
  22. And in other news the UK Defence Journal have been very busy...
  23. Since it's April fools Day, I thought I'd make a thread so we can share whatever silliness happens. Our first submission is from AirTac, I mean *geltac* (No affiliation here) "Introducing GELTAC. At Airtac, our finger is firmly on the pulse of modern combat simulation games. Its no secret that Airsoft as a *sport* is dying, and we truly believe the growing move towards gel ball is something we must all embrace. We've decided to scrap our BFG, Hi-Capa split mag, and all other HPA related projects going forward, in order to focus on creating innovative and synergic gel ball products. I would encourage all Airsoft sites to allow gel-blasters at regular events, as part of a transition to gel-only gameplay. I look forward to what the future holds. Stay Jelly, James "
  24. Finally got myself some AOR2. A US surplus field shirt and more interestingly a beyond clothing set of prototype trousers that were made for NSWDG at some point, really nice bits of kit that go for very low prices for some reason. ?
  25. That's good news ... So there is hope then! It'll be an interesting shotgun to see whenever it gets released.
